ABOUTÂ DAVIDSON DAY OUR LOCATION Conveniently located off I-77 at exit 30, in the heart of Lake Norman, North Carolina, we educate students two years old through twelfth grade.

OUR MISSION Davidson Day School fosters academic excellence through focus on collaboration, creativity, and character development.

OUR VISION To be the premier college preparatory organization in the Lake Norman area, by offering innovative, personalized learning that unlocks student potential. A Davidson Day School education prepares well-rounded, compassionate leaders to succeed on the global stage.

OUR VALUES

Meaningful connections. Our faculty, staff, and coaches build genuine relationships with students in their care, seeking to understand how they think, feel, and learn.

A secure, supportive learning environment. We prioritize physical, emotional, and intellectual safety in every academic and social environment.

Enriching experiences. We cultivate curious, well-rounded students. Our academic and extracurricular programs help students discover and explore their interests.

Integrity. We have high standards for honorable and respectful behavior. We expect our community members to be compassionate and contribute to the wellbeing of others.

WHY DAVIDSON DAY

We teach with meaning. For us, teaching means far more than just covering content; it means defining a best-fit path forward for your child and making a difference in his or her life.

We inspire potential. We nurture skills, uncover new talents, and motivate students to reach new milestones every day.

We cultivate curiosity. At Davidson Day, we celebrate exploration and innovation. We give ourselves permission to experiment and take risks to uncover a new way forward.

We embrace individuality. We value differences and appreciate what makes each person unique. We encourage self-expression, creativity, and selfadvocacy.

We foster community. We support each other and treat each other with the utmost respect. We recognize that collaboration is the key to making progress.

ACADEMICS AT DAVIDSON DAY With an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio, Davidson Day teachers provide the individualized attention each student deserves, getting to know each child and how they prefer to learn.

EARLY CHILDHOOD Toddlers-PreKindergarten We are the only independent school in the Lake Norman area that delivers an academic program for students as young as two years old. We teach skills and content in context to help young learners understand the world around them and their role in it.

LOWER SCHOOL Kindergarten-4th Grade Lower School is a time of hands-on exploration—of academics, of social relationships, of new experiences, and of personal character. We provide the enriching experiences and student support services that ensure all students exceed their potential.

MIDDLE SCHOOL 5th-8th Grade Middle Schoolers benefit from teamteaching and “looping” with their instructors for 5th and 6th grades, then 7th and 8th grades. We encourage our students to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and advocate for themselves and others.

UPPER SCHOOL 9th-12th Grade Our Upper School curriculum is designed to prepare students for the academic rigor and individual responsibility expected throughout a collegiate education—while also equipping students with real-world-ready skills so they’ll be prepared to lead on the global stage.

COLLEGE COUNSELING Outcomes For our future-ready graduates, the college search process is as empowering as it is expansive. We prepare our Patriots for success in the college search, admission, and enrollment process, and for success in academics, leadership roles, and social experiences.

STUDENT LIFE AT DAVIDSON DAY One of our core values is "Enriching Experiences." From the first day you step on campus, you’ll be welcomed, supported, and challenged to push yourself, beyond the classroom walls.

THE ARTS Our immersive, enriching arts programs in music and band, visual arts, digital illustration, photography, and theater and performing arts are integrated into the academic and social lives of our students as they cultivate creativity and work collaboratively. We offer Music & Band, Visual & Fine Arts, and Theater.

ATHLETICS We care about student development, and our athletics program inspires our student-athletes to become the best at getting better. More than 90 percent of our students elect to participate in a varsity sport, and many participate and compete in more than one.

INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH The American Foreign Academic Research (AFAR) Program at Davidson Day is pioneering full-scale archaeological field research and cultural site preservation for students in grades 7-12, creating a bridge to international cultures and communities.

CLUBS Clubs are an integral part of the students’ extracurricular experiences, and they offer an array of enrichment activities and leadership opportunities.

SOCIAL EVENTS Davidson Day School believes strong school spirit helps build community. Each division has regular, 'marquee' events such as Lower School's Night at the Museum, Middle School's Mini-Term, and Upper School Prom.
