Professional Development: We ensure that Davidson Day teachers stay at the forefront of their fields and learn best practices in teaching. In 2017-2018, teachers attended the NCAIS Conference, the Early Identification of Developing Learning Issues in Preschool Conference, the Teaching Music Conference, the Coding and Robotics Workshop, the Social and Emotional Development Workshop, and the Project-Based Learning Workshop, among others. Academics: We seek to enrich the Davidson Day learning environment; 2017-2018 examples include guest authors who visited middle school language art classes and ACT/SAT test preparation. Technology: We want to provide Davidson Day’s students and teachers with technology beyond that of a public or charter school; in 2017-2018, we invested in chromebooks for lower and middle school as well as faculty laptops. Specials: We prioritize broadening the scope of learning beyond a conventional classroom; we enable students in all grades to fully engage in art, music, theater, and physical education. In 2017-2018, we purchased new lighting and microphones for theater, physical education equipment, music and band equipment; and coordinated year-end field days.
