Davidson Day School is a coeducational, independent, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school enrolling students from pre-school through grade 12. We are located in Davidson, NC, a small town of 9,000 residents located about 25 miles north of Charlotte. Davidson is home to Davidson College, a highly selective liberal arts college, which is one mile away from the Davidson Day School campus. 2007, we moved into a new academic facility to accommodate a growing student population, and a new arts and athletics center opened in January 2009. In Spring 2009, Davidson Day School graduated its first class of 10 students. The Class of 2019 has 35 students. The Upper School at Davidson Day School is comprised of a diverse student body that is educated by an exceptional faculty committed to providing excellence throughout all facets
of our learning environment. We embrace a Socratic classroom that fosters critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and strength of character. Our curriculum includes collegiate choices throughout all departments, and we challenge students with Advanced Placement courses in English, Math, Science, History, World Language, Technology, and the Arts. Students at Davidson Day are expected to utilize a sense of inquiry, deconstruct sophisticated material, and fuel class discussion with cogent commentary.

INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH PROJECTS Davidson Day has led full-scale anthropological and archaeological research projects in Belize since 2009, Spain since 2014, Greece since 2017, and Portugal since 2018. Our programs partner with top-level colleges and universities to execute scientific research, and our students have the opportunity to present their findings at international archaeology conferences. The Belize program has been responsible for the majority of excavation and site preservation at the ancient Maya city of Cahal Pech. In Spain, our student-led team is engaged in a long-term archaeological testing project at the medieval Spanish castle of Zorita de los Canes. Here students live and work alongside Spanish professors and Spanish students working to better understand the onetime headquarters of the Calatrava Order of the Knights. Our newest project pairs student-led teams with governmentorganized archaeologists and conservators to excavate and conserve the ancient Macedonian city of Mieza, which once hosted Alexander the Great as he studied under Aristotle.
