SWT Community Petal Project Overview

Page 1

1. Planting & Growing

Our petal fields sit on the border of Tsavo East, Kenya's largestNational Park, and have been planted with over 13,000 plants, making us the biggest bougainvillea farm in the world! We don't use any pesticides or chemicals - just sunlight, rain and air!

Tsavo East is home to Kenya's largest population of elephants and a huge diversity of endangered and threatened wild species

2. Community & Conservation

Our team are employed from marginalised communities bordering Tsavo East, and we are proud to say that over 80% are women. Proceeds from the petals you purchase go towards supporting these communities, conserving habitats and protecting elephants and all wildlife.

3. Harvesting

Our petals are handpicked and harvested at the perfect time to ensure the very best quality real flower confetti.

4. Drying

After the petals are picked, they are taken straight to theDryingRoom for our 100% natural preserving process.

5. Seperating & Sorting

Once dried, the petals are transferred to the Sorting Room where the team removes each individual petal from the stem by hand - the most labour-intensive stage of the Petal Process - before they are sifted, sorted and graded.

6. Packaging

Our petals can be purchased loose or from our stunning packaged collection, which is 100% recyclable. Light and fly-away, they are perfect for throwing, creating petal paths, decorating tables and dancefloors, designing grand petal drop displays and more
