Dedicated To Michael Gebbia ... the wise man looks into space, and does not regard the small as too little, nor the great as too big; for he knows that there is no limit to dimensions Lao-Tse

Past yearbooks have listed him as simply a social studies teacher, but Michael Gebbia is so very much more than that.

If you look at the activities he has been involved in while at OHS, you will see that Mr. Gebbia is a devoted friend to both students and teachers alike.

Mr. Gebbia has shown he is willing to make sacrifices for his students. Four years ago, for instance, he volunteered to be the advisor to the Debate Club. When Mr. Gebbia was not driving students in his own car to observe debating matches, he could be found aiding his own debaters who were trying to put together an active OHS team. That team quickly became a reality . In shortly over a month, Mr. Gebbia had molded a winning debate team from students who had never debated before!!

In addition to helping students, Mr. Gebbia has worked hard to assist his fellow teachers. He was instrumental in the formation of the Ossining Federation of Teachers, which was a group founded to improve the working conditions and benefits of the Ossining teacher.

Mr. Gebbia ' s willingness to help may also be seen in his role of advisor to the Class of 1973 . Originally not an advisor, he took the position when chaos reigned at the first class meet ing and it was evident a strong advisor was needed . And a strong advisor he has been! Mr. Gebbia has managed to hold the class together even though everything the students have planned has not always worked out as well as expected.

Mr. Gebbia ' s proven ability as an advisor led the Student Union to ask him to be their advisor in the winter of 1971.

He agreed and his work with the Union has gotten it on the road toward being an extremely effective form of government.

Michael Gebbia is quite a man - willing to listen, dedicated to students and teachers , ready to make sac rifi ces for others, hard -working, and always there when you need him. It is for these and his other fine qu alities that we take great pleasure in dedicating the 1973 Wizard to Micha el Gebbia, our friend .

A teacher ho can arouse a feeling for one single good action , for one single good poem , accomplishes more than he who fills our me mory with rows on rows of natural objects , classified with name and form.

Imagine , a typical first day in the Guidan ce offices at 0 .H .5 . Frustrated students stampeding the offices of Mangels , Sortevik , Campbell and Friedman all requesting schedule changes, better teachers and earlier dismissal. Many girls bitterly complain that they definitely did not sign up for t,,1odem Truckdriving, while the boys absolutely refuse to go to Contemporary Fashions.

The Senior Class presents a unique problem . Trying to find the ' right ' college for each anxious senior all vying for a place in the Ivy Leagues , while the guidance counselor suggests a small college in Alaska .

This is the Guidance department , a group of dedicated professionals trying to meet t~e needs of 1600 students while retaining their sanity .

Mathematics Department What can be said about the O .H.S. math program? It is so up to date and modem that the teachers themselves have trouble understanding it.

This new math involves doing a problem with the suitable formula. Getting the correct answer is no longer the objective . for example: a simple 4 + 6 can not be determined by mere addition. You have to substitute 4 with x 2 and 6 with y 2 , then finding the cube root of x + y will leave you with the absolute value of the vertical asymptote which of course equals 11; but as long as the formula is correct who needs the correct answer? At the end of one of these stimulating problems you find yourself completely baffled and ready for the challenging homework assignment which of course involves finding 4 + 8.

After struggling over this problem for hours your six year old brother comes in and gives you the answer with out a second thought. But then he didn ' t get to high school yet.

Now we'll set you straight on your physic s. A nuclear accelerator is not a futuristic gas pedal , nor is a ripple tank a new weapon developed by the Pentagon .

It is very important to know what you ' re talking or not talking about, especially in the field of science. Oh , in case anyone should ask, you can ' t hear the ocean in an electron shell.

Student Union Imagine five starry-eyed Student Union officers trying to arouse some interest in the 1 ,600 apathetic students who pitter patter around O .H.S . Even worse than that, stick 200 of them in the auditorium at 8: 00 in the morning when they could have been at the Briarcade with their chums. To top it off , your microphone suddenly comes down with a bad case of laryngitis and you ' ve got yourself a real problem .

This is the major one that the highly idealistic Student Union officers must attempt to solve .

Despite a rocky start in the Union ' s first year (1971 -1972) this year ' s Union appeared to be well on the way to solving the problems of administration interference and student apathy. The Student Union has now become , and hopes to remain , a fully workable and reliable form of student government. Although still in an embryonic state , the Union made the school board sit up and take notice , as this year the president of the Union , Peter Jaroff , was also the representative to the school board. The other officers who must also be commended for their hard work and innovative ideas were : Mark Hessel, V.P. ; Peggy Tierney , Corres . secy. ; Paula Dagen , Rec. Sec. ; and Jon Nash , treasurer.

Chess Club After one fairly obnoxious American chess champion paved the way, O .H.S. established for the first time a devious , competitive chess team. Playoff s were run , order of talent was announced, and Mr. Karson shoved the team off. Enthusiasm has literally been known to be seen flying about the atmosphere in one of the many chess club meetings . How well is entirely dependent upon how well we ' d like to do. We certainly have the battling potential. The only question rema ining concerns how many of us are willing to do battle . But if the chess clul:, turns out like most of the extra-curricular activities in this school, it will ip.evitably be a smashing suc cess!!

Debate Club

Audio Visual Staff "Look, the film strip is melting in the projector! " " Why is the tape recorder playing back so fast? " " Hey, you - where ' s the sound on this movie, anyway? " The above crises and dilemmas are but a sample of those that the Ossining High School Audio Visual Club must try to remedy every school day. This is not an easy job for the club as it requires that they know of everything from film and slide projectors to tape recorders and sound systems.

The club, comprised of young men and women who have an interest in the audio-visual "world " , is headed by Jeff Davidson, audiovisual coordinator at OHS. It affords the novice a chance to learn, and it gives the more advanced student the opportunity to delve into more difficult and complicated areas.

Of course, the members of the club would be running around like "chickens without their heads " if it were not for Mrs. Jean Wright, the audio-visual secretary, who , through her conscientious work, continues to maintain the highest degree of order possible within the department.

However , it is the students who are the "true backbone " of the club . They must cart heavy machines halfway across the school, run in several directions at once searching for lost films, and try to keep their heads despite all sorts of chaos.

A film, or slides, or a filmstrip - they all express various meanings, but they need an INT ACT projector to do it. A voice can say so much , but it needs a healthy tape recorder or finely tuned record player to say it.

So, now you know - the next time your slide goes amuck, or your record player just skips along - you 'll know what to do - simply call the OHS Audio-Visual Club.

Language Clubs

If an OHS student has a hankering for that extra i Hola amigo! or Bonjour that he just can ' t get in the classroom , he does have a place he can turn to. He may jo in one of the various language clubs here at OHS , and be provided with an expanded view of the life, people , and the culture of different coun tries in addition to receiving an extra opportunity to use the language he is studying .

The OHS language clubs offer a wide range of activities . Besides the annual tri lingual banquet, the clubs engage in tutoring, lectures from foreign students , and there have even been attempts at a multilingual newspaper . However , due to that ever-present desire to visit that " special " foreign land, you are apt to find language club members doing everything from selling candy to showing horror films. Won ' t it be wonderful when the day finally arrives that the Latin Club members' moans of ,:: " maybe, someday, when we get enough money, we can go to Rome ... , are changed to one triumphant cry of, "PHOOEY ON CICERO, I'M GOIN ' TO IT ALY!" So, remember, a "vacci" in the" arb6e azue " is worth two in Mr. Toil's office, anyday!

The National Honor Society is an organization comprised of seniors selected for exceptional qualities in scholarship , leadership service and character.

This year under the watchful eye of their advisor , Miss Moglia , the club has assumed a " new look ." The society has become much more flexible, as demonstrated by the activities it has undertaken.

If you looked carefully this year, you saw society members working towards the passage of school referendums, selling " Bye Bye Birdie" tickets, running cake sales, showing films, and dining at the induction of new members .

However, as treasurer Neil Mackay would tell you, the society, did face one problem. Although they engaged in a variety of activities, the society made very little money . If you attended a meeting you understood why, though. It is very easy for a~ intelligent senior to come up with a fund-raising idea, but if you ask him for one that is both ~ega_land morally above board, it is virtually impossible for him to do.

The Science Club continued this year to be the watchdogs of the Hudson River. Each week neither rain nor snow nor coldness of day nor briskness of wind stayed these loyal, trustworthy . . . insane ( !) " scientists " from collecting water samples and testing their quality.

Take heart, folks, the river isn '.t as polluted as it looks.

The club has branched out into checking out other streams in the Ossining area .

The members of the club along with a few friends made sure there was a packed audience at the monthly RESA dinner-lecture series at IBM. They must have been truly dedicated for not much can be said for the food. But the lectures were interesting, .. . well anyway the seats were comfortable.

To make other students in the High School aware of the problems confronting our environment the club arranged to have speakers to celebrate the annual observanceof Earth week. ~rs it seem that_this is an awfully "intellectual" club? th·e fall and spring field and camping trips are anymg but. On these trips the club tries to learn about naturalfoods, but steaks taste better!

Did you realize that there was a club here at Ossining High School concerned with promoting U.S . relat ions toward other countries ? The Interact Club is such an organization .

The Interact Club is a service club wh ich always stands ready to lend a hand to any worthy cause . What make s Interact un ique is that , through travel and living abroad, it tries to promote better relations between America and other nations.

Hampered by a small membership, the club has, none the less, been very active during the past year. Among their activities was a highly successful raffle, at which a frisbee was awarded as one of the prizes. And as everyone knows, there is nothing like a frisbee towards furthering world harmony.

What club boosts school spirit , gets involved with the community and has a good time doing it?

The OHS Leaders ' Club does.

We could never manage this without our two fantastic advisors: Miss Marie Mandarano and Mrs . Hermina Stambler.

This year was a busy one . Some of our activities included selling "Swallow the Hollow " buttons , collecting for the Heart Fund , going to a Broadwa y play (watch out New Yorkers) , singing at where-ever they ' ll take us and ended up with a camping trip that never quite turned out the way most camp weekends do .

In addition we plan on doing something to help our community .

The officers of the Leaders' Club are : Nancy Shults , who counts the monies , Sue Mazzacone , who has a case of writer ' s cramp , Sue DiCesare, who complicates matters and Bern Bloom , who tries to run the meetings.

The start of a new school year brought a new problem to the OHS chorus - no director . It was promptly solved with the arrival of a student teacher from The King's College , Dan Anderson . Mr. Anderson decided to continue teaching at OHS after the completion of his college course and did a great job. Although the chorus was smaller this year than in past years, its sound was just as good , if not better.

The individual students had a chance to demonstrate their fine voices with a number of solo or small group parts . The music that was sung was more familiar to the listeners who showed their appreciation with much applause at the concerts.

Orchestra Although the orchestra has had nearly as many conductors in the past few years as the high school has had administrators, the organization has managed to keep its head above water. This year under the direction of Robert Beckman, the orchestra rehearsed and performed the works of such greats as Berlioz, Tschaikovsky, Hadyn, and Mozart.

Although the orchestra is not yet giving the Philharmonic a run for its money, who knows what hard work and determination can do! Leonard Bernstein watch out!

Band " Is that the West Point Band I hear?'' asked an incredulous student of his comrade one Friday afternoon . " Of course not ," answered the scholar. " It' s our very own OHS band! " Yes , indeed . Although the word " band " is usually linked in mo st peoples ' minds as the group which accompanies the wild shrieks at Saturday afternoon football games , the organization prefers to think of itself in more melodious terms .

Under the highly capable and experienced baton of Roy C. Wilkinson , the group has attempted to attain greater heights in its ability to perform as a concert band. Enthusiasm is the key to success in any organization, and the band is no exception, led heroically by its mascot, Chester the Chicken . It has even been rumored that a certain Stanley Toll has been seen sitting among the saxophone section , tooting with the best of 'em . Officers of the band are : Kathy Helmers, Pres., Ralph Colao , V.P., and Regina Kane, Secretary .

Twirling Precision and co-ordination are perhaps the prime elements of a good twirling squad , but enthusiasm and school spirit are the foremost thoughts on the minds of the OHS Twirlers. One cannot help but join in the merrymaking once one sees the radiant faces of our twirlers.

First in line are Bonnie Newman , head majorette , and Meryl Besen, captain, who are followed by fellow twirlers Barbara Brady , Nancy Levin, Barbara Nylander , Jay Scott, Kathy O 'Mara , Bern Coyne and Janice Bernhardt.

Marching Band Ensemble

Color Guard The school color guard is composed of eight girls. Under the direction of Mr. George Moore , they perform at all home football games . Aside from that , they also represent Ossining High School at local functions , including the Memorial Day Parade and the Jaycees Soap Box Derby .

Go face them and fight them.

Go out there and be savage again.

Football As the saying goes " You can 't win them all. " The 1972 Varsity Football team fought for a hard earned 3-3-2 record this year. Playing the toughest schedule in the county - Ossining met with two teams that only lost one game apiece (Scarsdale and Peekskill) and one team who went on to become undefeated county champs (guess who).

Despite their unimpressive record , Ossining still managed to place six player~ on the all league team: co-captains Steve " Wild Bill" Cordy and Bob " Stump " Farrell . and Tim Thomas , Steve " Winnie " Windsor , Ralph " Bubba " Colao , and Paul " Mindy " Pisano . Steve Cordy also made all-county with Steve Windsor getting honorable mention.

Looking forward to next year the Ossining Indians will retain their tough schedule, and could be heard saying , while walking off the field after the Sleepy game , " We will be back!!! "

Soccer

After a super season last year , many a student expected the 0 .H.S . Soccer Team to fade into its playing habits of yesteryear. But t' was not to be so .

Leadership , optimism , and a loud voice supplied by our coach Henry Alviti has paved a way to a winning season . Finishing the year at 10-6-1 really shows no proof of the quality of play we are capable of. This year we were befuddled by inexperience and jinxed by maroon jerseys.

Coach Alviti leading a team of Juniors and Sophomores should be well stocked with " talent " in the seasons yet to come .

Basketball

Many people think girl ' s can ' t play basketball , but they were proven wrong by Ossining High ' s G irls ' Basketball Team .

Under the leadership of Ms. Lucille Bloom and with a little help from " Pudding " they were able to have a successful and exciting season . Ms . Bloom , although new at the game , was able to teach the girls new techn iques and plays which proved to be vital during the game . The two captains Mary Badia and Molly Cavanough gave the team confidence throughout the whole season. However , most of the strength lay within the team.

Th ey had spirit and the ability to work well together. And you thought girls couldn ' t play basketball , Ha! Gooooooo Pudding!

The 1973 edition of the OHS Basketb all team closed out a successful season with a record of 9 wins against 8 losses, thus earning the team a trip to county center to complete in theclass A division of the section I Toumamen t.

The Indians, led by first year coach Ed Mant ie, showed markedimprovement with each game they played. With allleague guard Steve Winsor showing the way , the team played to thrilling victories over such teams as Sleepy Hollow, Peekskill, and Portchester.

JoiningWinsor in the starting line-up were Albert " Junior " Peterson, a guard ; Walter Bush and Butch Williams , forwards; and Kenny Horton at center. Completing the roster were subs Gary Morgan , Brian Harris , Carlton Wilcher, Mike Sawyer, Harvey Smith, Russ Muller , Earl Jones, and Steve Holohan.

More important than the team's record this year, however , was the fact that it has once again demonstrated through goodhard play and excellent sportsmanship, that basketball at OHS is on a par with every other team in the country.

Cross Country

The pavement rises before your blurry eyelids, and the sweat rolls down the sides of your whiskers, and the stench of your own sweat might just get to you if you 're not too careful, and you can see the red gleams of a pinkish sun setting. The legs are stiffening , fatigued , overworked , churning like a buttermill, pounding on that asphalt.

The sun goes down and it's getting col der and darker , and you ' re glad to be in some nicely snug sweats. But whatever challenge you imagined to be confronting you has been met by no one other than you .

And Petrie and Rosen and Wolf and Potanovic and Smith and Barnes and Hass , and all the newcomers keep running and running and still running .

Hockey The Ossining ice hockey team finished it's regular season at 7 _ 7, beating Greenwich once, and White Plains, Sleepy Hollow, and New Rochelle twice each .

The Bobby Hull of Ossining , captain Roger Peterson along with teammate Marty Dugan , were in the top five in league scoring. The team members emerged with all their pearly whites intact. Smile boys, you have reason to!

If you drop by the girls ' gym at 4 o'clock you will find a group of young men, all bundled up in sweats as if to go outside yet the temperature of the gym is 90 degrees. This is the O .H.S. wrestling team . Led by Coach Mike Nardone, they have captured their league title for the tenth straight year and have no intention of breaking this streak in the near future.

The O .H.S . girls gymnastic team started competing for the first time last year and during the season, improved tremendously.

Proving this was their divisional win, beating ten teams in their division. Two weeks later they gave Mamaroneck, the number one team in the county, a good fighting struggle in the sectionals, losing to them by only a few points.

This year has started off extremely well , and the girls hope to con tinue doing well throughout the season. So far this year they have beaten some of the most difficult teams in the league including John Jay and Mamaroneck. Many of the team ' s records have been broken along with many of girls ' personal records.

Gymnastics

The entire team works extremely hard and this is shown by their excellent record . The girls have lots of stamina and work well together, which proves to be a winning combination .

The coach , Mr. Alviti, puts in long hours and is very much responsible for the girls improvement. He gives these girls the extra boost they need which helps give the team the encouragement to go on.

No , they 're playing lacrosse , a sport which , although only introduced to OHS four years ago, is already one of the most popular spring sports.

In order for a team to win at lacrosse , it must advance the ball down the field and into the other teams ' goal. This is done making crisp passes with the lacrosse stick , at the same time trying to avoid a check from players on the other team .

Key players on this year ' s lacrosse team include Steve Cordy , Bruce R""eynolds,and Drew Barrett.

Lacrosse certainly is a sport for everyone . It has speed , action and agility. So , if you enjoy a good streetbrawl , and even if you don ' t, lacrosse is a sport for you.

Outdoor coach Ron " the rock " Whatley and the Assistant Coach Bob George looked forward to improving on last year ' s 5-3 won-lost record. At the first meeting of the year 75 girls and approximately 36 boys signed up for tryouts for the team . The girls team, started last year, is one of the strongest in the county , if not the cutist. As usual the boys team is strongest in the distance and jumping events.

One of the stars of last years team, high jumper George Potonovic, was back this year to attempt to break the school record he set last year at 6 ' 4Âź" . In the long jump senior Ted Mciver looked forward to jumping over 21 feet. Also in the field events Brad Carter took care of the shot put and discus.

The team also has Duane Cambridge and a few newcomers who run the sprints . In the distance events Dan Petrie and Jeff Rosen, both award winners of the Yonkers Marathon had many good races this year. Un fortunately star half -milers Russ Wolf and Rich Barnes were not with the team this year , as last year ' s practices were too much for them.

This year the OHS Baseball Team searched for yet another Section Championship. Already , the team had produced a string of three of them . But the success of this year ' s team depended on the performance of the younger, less experienced players . With only a handful of returning players , catcher , Steve Winsor ; pitcher, Butch Williams and outfielder, Jim Tobin , the team needed much work. Under the direction of Coach Winter , using the veterans as a foundation , and the new players as building blocks , the team strengthened itself. It is the veterans combined with the new players that produced a winning baseball team for OHS .

If a person has love , yet wants to crush you, who can he or she be? The person must be a member of the OHS tennis team.

The OHS tennis team, coached by Mr. Gerald Kahn , has established itself as a solid team over the past few years . Since we are not a county powerhouse , however, our team members have developed several techniques for winning which are listed below.

Golf

1. The Bright Method - to use this method, you try and psyche your opponent out by shooting balls at 100 MPH at the coaches, spectators , and your teammates - DURING WARM-UP! If that doesn 't scare him , nothing will!

2. The Ho-Hum Plan - This one is simple.

You pretend to be so great that you don ' t warm up , you talk with spectators while your opponents warm up , and when you finally walk on the court it was as though you were waking up; you are stretching, yawning, etc. If, however, your opponent has not fallen for this routine , there is just one thing for you to do - use method 3.

These individuals bowl in teams of five against teams from other schools . To the non-bowler or the once-in-a-while bowler , the scores have been known to cause severe nausea. But take heart, non-bowlers , after all , isn ' t it nice to know that the highest score you ever had is less than their averages?

If you spot a student

here at OHS carrying around pieces of paper with a number of holes in them , don ' t automatically assume that he has moths in his loose-leaf notebook . Consider the possibility that he may be a member of the OHS Rifle Team looking at his targets after some time at the rifle range .

Located in the " basement " of OHS, the rifle range is the place where interested students go to learn the various aspects of riflery - from the different shooting positions to the proper breathing technique.

The most precise gunners at OHS Rifle Team this year annihilated virtually every team it met in competition .

You are now a bit more informed about riflery at Ossining High . Oh, one last warning - if some day the first floor of the old building goes crumbling into the earth , you 'll know a member of the rifle team missed and shot out a supporting post under the school.

Senior Class History So homo re year started off quite well with Mr. Gebbia anI Mrs. Kizer still leading the class along with officers Paul Pisano , President ; Mark Hessel , Vice-President; Alan Schwartz , Treasurer ; and Bern Bloom , Secretary . . . we got the brilliant idea to order our rings a year early and became known as the radicals of the school - imagine, breaking tradition at 0.H.S.! This year was known for its money raising tactics , from stationary to candy bars to our famous Food Festival ... we were fortunate enough to have two principals that year , first Mr. Palmer, then Mr . Keller - in the typical style of O .H.S ... . The Crucible was performed . . . the band journeyed across the ocean to play in various European cities , . . . and, our football team was undefeated for the first time in Ossining ' s history!

We entered O .H.S. in the fall of 1969, but it was not until the spring of 1970 that the class got together as a ':h: ¡ It was then that the first class meeting was held _m e girls ' gym under the leadership of Mrs ._Sara Kizer '. a guidance counselor who was also class advisor . Mrs . Kizer had understandable difficulty contro lling the rowd y bunch of freshmen , so a young Social Studies teacher by the name of Michael Gebbia stepped out to restore order .

He became the person we could count on for the ne~t three years. Officers we.re elected - Tim Thomas , President ; Steve Rauschkolb . Vice-President ; Janice Turro , Treasurer ; and Ellyce Brower, Secretary ... and we were off! .. . $100 was raised by raffling off a deluxe AM-FM radio and a ring-toss game was the feature of the Freshman Class booth during " Together Weekend " Mr. Rosenstein was the principal that year - our knight in shining armor who rode off after one year ... our dismay at the Kent State killings and the war in Indochina was expressed when many Freshmen along with Sophomores and upperclassmen marched in front of O.H.S. to protest ... "Guys and Dolls " was produced including only a handful of freshmen, but , our presence was felt nonetheless ...

Finally ... Our Senior year! Plagued with senioritis , college applications, and Freshmen (were we ever really like that?) we somehow made it through the year ... Our devoted leaders were Steve Rauschkolb, President; Sue DiCeasare, Vice-President; Irene Handler, Treasurer; and Bernadette Coyne, Secretary . . . Mr. Toll returned - he set a record for the principal who survived longest at O.H.S. in the last three years . .. the National Presidential election found many of us campaigning, rallying , and debating ... The traditional Senior Class Buffet was held untraditionally in the fall instead of the spring ... the school referendum was defeated and we were threatened with major cuts in teachers, activities, and special programs ... "Bye, Bye Birdie" was produced with many of the leads played by fellow seniors and a host of chorus members . . . we sold candy bars, again!, and were very impressed with our Senior Portraits - perhaps a little melancholy that it was almost over, but more thrilled that we'd soon be "outta this place" .. . Our Senior Class Christmas Party included a play about our class, the announcement of the Hall of Fame, a band which could not make up for our lack of enthusiasm, and 100 disillusioned seniors who left the party at 9:30 for the Cozy and other assorted spots . .. the Senior Class Play , "The Happy Time, ' ' directed by Mr. Alan Criswell, was another success .. . and when April 15 arrived most had been accepted by at least one college ... Colonial Terrace, the customary site of our Senior Prom, was not only elegant but thrilling as well . . . And as a perfect finale to a four-year stay at O.H.S., the Class of '73 was officially graduated onJune21 . ..

In our junior year Mrs. Meredith Paisley replaced Mrs. Kizer as class advisor and we elected Mark Hessel. President; Paula Dagen, Vice-President ; Ralph Colao, Treasurer; and Sue DiCeasare , Secretary . .. we sold all kinds of crazy items that year - does anyone remember the porn-porns or the "Indian Power " buttons? and did anyone fail to see a Junior class officer at the football games, wrestling matches, and concerts marketing an assortment of goodies? ... tradition was broken again - a letter was sent home to parents asking them to cooperate in the payment of their child's dues and a Semi-Formal Junior Class Dinner-Dance to which you could go stag was planned and later cancelled because less than 100 people wanted to come, not suprising for our enthusiastic class ... Mr. Stanley Toll arrived as the new principal .. . house principals made their debut - remember, they were supposed to unify our class, bring us together, etc . . . a Student Union was adopted .. . we were shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Mr. Thomas Warner, a man who meant infinitely more to us than just another Spanish teacher . .. PSAT's, SAT's, achievement tests, and class ranks were upon us and the realization that college applications lurked around the corner inspired us to do some studying ... after all, who doesn't want to make it to Harvard?
