2017 brings some exciting news for the charity, with the announcement and confirmation received:

The Oakley Waterman Foundation is now officially a U.K. registered Charity. A board of trustees has been setup to run the charity in line with the charity commissions guidelines. The Trustees are: • Lorraine Waterman • Dave Waterman • Dulleach Ryan • Harry Redknapp • Tony Male • Tania Clark • Martyn Webb • Nick Carter • Phil Reeves • Dougie Leask

With the new NEW lodge last year and the addition off the 3rd caravan, the future of the charity is looking good. None of this would be possible without the help and support of everyone within Oak’s Army. Long may this continue.

Thankyou SO MUCH

A Message from Dave and Lorraine When Lorraine & I first started the charity, to grant Oakley his wish, we never expected that 12 years on, it would have achieved as much as it has. Oakley always put others first and through the charity we have been able to give over 500 families’ holidays they may never have had, at a time when they most needed it. The costs are high due to for disability/wheelchair access. phenomenal and is something it regularly and are staggered by charity to heart and support us has grown and is going from participants joining all the time.

stringent Health & Safety regulations and the need But the commitment & support for Oak’s Charity is Lorraine and I find extremely humbling. We discuss the way so many in the community have taken the by taking part in all of the challenges. Oak’s Army strength to strength, with new friends and

Oak’s loved his sport and would and challenges that are organised swimming, kayaking and boxing, auctions; there’s something for

love the ideas and sporting theme of so many events for the benefit of the charity. From running, cycling, to bush tucker trials, coffee mornings, raffles and everyone to take part in.

We know Oaks is smiling down on us all and watches over us with each event that we do. The idea of the boxing event was a dream of Lee’s. He has supported Lorraine and I in everything we’ve done. Team Oak’s have been unbelievable, based at Bally's gym. As boxing professionals they have all made the lads welcome and put them through their paces to make sure they are properly prepared and able to put on a great event tonight. Special thanks to Micheal Ballingall, Lee Burchill, Gavin Jones and our own coaching team of Paul Miles, Kev McCormack and my brother Lee Waterman Finally, Lorraine and I would like to thank everyone for keeping Oaks wish alive. We could not have achieved it without people like you.

“All the best to the boxers tonight, now is your time to shine and put all the hard work into practice. Give it your all and don’t come out thinking I could have done more”

Win, lose or draw, I’m proud of YOU ! ! !

All the hard work is done now, it’s time to step in that ring and give it your all. Go do yourselves proud, hard work pays off.

“Blood, sweat and tears have been put into this training camp for one night. Enjoy it and don’t have any regrets”

CARL ALLEN After I became a dad, it made me more aware of the fact that horrible illnesses affect children as much as adults, so to be involved in the Oak’s boxing show, to raise money for this great charity is a real honour and one, I feel, I have given my all to get ready for. I have no boxing experience at all but with the help of the coaches I think I have improved a lot and my fitness is probably at the best it has been in years. The training itself has been brilliant, although its been hard at times. I’ve always come away feeling good about myself and if people are struggling or need a hand, the whole group pull together to get everyone through!! I think its going to be a surreal moment when my time comes to step into the ring but its going to be a moment I will never forget. Thanks to my sponsors for my training and support BS STEELS. Thanks for your support guys!!! 5

steve britten People have often said to me ‘Why start boxing’ and ‘Why this event?’. Clearly they have never done anything like this before and ‘Why this event?’, I couldn't think of anything better to challenge and push myself to the limit to help this amazing charity out that's helps so many families. My time with the Oak’s army has been incredible.

I would like this opportunity to thank Paul Miles, Lee Waterman, Gav Jones, Kev McCormack, oh and Trina haha for getting me to this point today, would also like to thank T&T FACADES for sponsoring me and a big thank you to Elizabeth my wife, who has been so supportive through this whole experience. 6

I’ve never been with such a bunch of dedicated and determined people that push and help one another to succeed, they are a true credit to this charity, which, I feel so honoured to be apart of.

I was introduced to the Oakley Waterman Caravan Foundation by my good friend Lindsay Waterman, I had heard of the charity before but never took part in any of the fund raising. Since taking part in the training for this fight, I have realised how important this charity is not only to all of Oakley’s family but also to the coaches, the boxers and other families and children that the charity helps. When Lindsay explained to me how the charity started and what it was based on, I initially wanted to help in any way I could. I have a bit of boxing experience and when this opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance. I can honestly say it has been one of the best experience’s I have had and I would like to say a personal thank you to every single person who has taken part, from the coaches, to the physio, my fellow boxers and everyone in-between. Paul Miles, Lee Waterman, Trina Wheeler, Big Kev thank you all for letting me be part of this journey with you and thank you for the time and effort you have put into me, I will forever be grateful. I would also like to thank my beautiful family and friends for coming to support me and supporting me in everything that I do. I would like to thank my partner for putting up with having a part time girlfriend for a few week but also for putting up with all the moaning and injuries, I picked up along the way. Without all of you people this wouldn’t have been possible so once again thank you so much. Lastly, Henry Braithwaite, my sponsor from Marketmakers - you’ve been awesome. 7

laura kay " I came to this event last year and totally loved it!...so when the opportunity came to take part in it this year, I jumped at the chance! I've not had any boxing experience before but I do regularly run to keep fit. I have taken part in a couple of small triathlons and last October I ran my first marathon! I've been to quite a few Oaks charity events over the years and have always sponsored 'oaks army' but I've never actually raised money for the charity before personally, so this seemed like a great opportunity to do my bit. Two weeks in to training I tore the ligaments in my ankle, this set me back a few weeks and I was unable to train. I was so disappointed and unsure if I was going to be able to continue but luckily I healed quickly and was soon back at the gym! The training has been incredible thanks to all the people that have given their time and expertise to ensure the fighters are prepared for the event. It's been intense and tough at times but I have loved every moment! I've been pushed beyond what I thought was my limit and have smashed well past my comfort zone. The relationships that have been built between the fighters has been priceless....we've trained, laughed and built friendships! I'm greatful for this incredible opportunity and to my sponsors ARBONNE, I know that boxing will now be a part of my life forever. I want to thank everyone who has given their time to train and support us through this epic journey! Xx " 8

aaron cleaver I’ve known about the Oakley Waterman Foundation for sometime now and what a charity it is! ! ! Since becoming a dad my whole life has changed, we didn’t have the best start due to complications at birth, but, we were one of the lucky ones. I couldn’t imagine going through what some people have to go through and I feel privileged to be a part of this family, who can give back to the unfortunate ones and that’s exactly what this charity is about. I take my hat off to the people involved in the Waterman Foundation, the amount of time and effort they go through is amazing. These 12 weeks of hard brutal training have been amazing. TEAMOAKs have put their heart and soul into this and I’m so glad to be a part of it. I had a little head start as I used to box as a kid and to be able to get back into it after being out for so long was really tough, but worth it.I’d like to thank the Miss’es for putting up with my lack of daddy duties and the sweaty bloody kit that comes home :)I’d like to say a massive thank you to Dave and Lee for giving me this opportunity to represent this charity. Big thanks to the coaches Paul, Lee, Gal & Kev who have just put in as much work and time in as the rest of us. Without them this wouldn’t be possible. A massive thanks to Dave Birmingham for taking time out of your training to help us out. 9

Occupation : Estate Agent

I’m married to Emma and have two sons, Wilfred (10) & Charlie (8). This is my first ‘organised’ fight ever and I would like to say Thankyou to everyone involved up to today’s fight especially Austin & Wyatt, my sponsors. The whole experience has been unlike anything I’ve known from the very start. Training 3-4 times a week, some amazing support from a great team, has really been hard work at times, but the thing that has kept me going above else, is that this wonderful charity has a real heart. People really care. I’m proud to be involved and hope that I won’t let anyone down on the night. Thankyou for supporting me and the Oakley Waterman Caravan Trust, Thankyou to Emma & the boys for helping me 10 through this. I hope you enjoy!.

MEET THE

dave waterman Wow-once again what an experience and journey I have found myself on in taking part in another Oak’s Challenge, and what a challenge this has been. Having declared myself to not take part in an Oaks boxing show in the past (my excuse was the kids and Lorraine not wanting me to do it) but also being a trustee and founder member of Oaks Charity, we weren't sure if it was appropriate for me to do. But after taking some banter/ridicule from 2 particular people, my Bruv Lee and Coach Paul Miles to do one, I felt it was time to get involved and shut those two up Lol. With everyone on this show and others, in the past putting themselves through a training camp & showing such commitment and a great attitude, it was only right for me do the same. Having always been on the outside looking in with the other boxing shows it has been great on the inside training alongside this #TEAMOAKS crew, in fact it's been a privilege and honour to have shared these last few months with you all. The bond has grown strong throughout the camp with everyone looking out for each other and helping each other out. My HUGE thanks to Leigh Bollard and SOLENT HEATING LTD for sponsoring me this year. We couldn't do this without the coach's alongside us who once again have done a great job in getting Oak’s boxers ready and giving up their precious time for us and Oak’s charity, so thank you Lee, Milesy, Big Kev, Gav and Trina. Thank you to two lads who fought on Oaks last show but have come in regular to help us out in sparring/keeping spirits up and staying a part of it Stu Hensman & Jason Mann. Big thanks to our very own personal physio's Claire Bennett Simon Bennett, your help, expertise and dedication is always appreciated and once again got a few of us through another challenge! 11

MEET THE

FIGHTERS and SUPPORTERS “The Charity is of course very special to me with Oakley being my nephew. Be it the service we provide to the families that use us or to those who join Oaks army in support it’s a truly amazing cause so that is why I am doing this, it’s because nights like these mean we can continue ensuring Oakley’s wish is kept alive. I’ve never been on this side about to step into the ring before but thanks to the amazing commitment from the coaches I would say we are near on professionals now so not even scared (I say that with a wink in the hope my opponent reads this before the fight) For me this experience has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. Being someone who did little exercise beforehand, liked an alcoholic beverage, liked food and socialising etc to then cut all that out, training 5 to 6 times a week means there has been a lot to get used to with a lot of ups and downs. I have always appreciated the effort the boxers put in but now, I have an entirely new level of appreciation. Every person fighting here tonight is a hero, each individual you see fight tonight in Oak’s corner has at some point been the reason another fighter is here and hasn’t given up! Each fighter has put blood, sweat and tears into preparing for this night and that is something I will never forget. No matter how we do in the ring everyone here is a winner. The credit for all of us getting into the ring has to go to the coaches, my brother Lee Waterman, Paul Miles, Big Kev, Gavin Jones and Trina Wheeler! Without them this wouldn’t be possible, thank you all for your beastings, your shouting, time and patience. I want to end by thanking everyone who has come to support me tonight. Thanks to my employers, LEAD FORENSICS for being my Sponsor throughout. To my mum and dad thank you for your constant support, I hope I can do you proud, No crying mum! Natalie, thank you for your support and guidance. Thankyou for listening to me moan everyday about how much I hurt, Thankyou for fitting in around my busy schedule and sticking with me through this, it means a lot.

PS Somebody get a pint ready for me please ! 14

gavin barclay I said ‘Yes’ to this challenge after another drunken night around Stuart Hensman’s house. I said ‘if he done it, I would the following year thinking he wouldn't do it, but he did, so here I am’. I have never done any boxing at all before this twelve week training camp. I have learnt about mine and other’s determination and drive to push themselves to the limit for this incredible charity. I have been involved in a few other events but this is by far the toughest and have shed my fair share of sweat and blood during training. We are all part of the Oakley family and that is exactly what it is, a family. I would like to say a big thank you to all the coaches for their patience and effort with me and to my son Callum who has come and helped me with my training thanks to Paul Silence and ABLE STEEL for sponsoring me and all my friends for there support lets keep the Oakley dream going xx 15

MEET THE

FIGHTERS

and SUPPORTERS Telling my husband I had decided to put myself forward to fight on the Oakley Waterman Charity boxing night was like telling him I was expecting quads!!! (A married mother of 2 under 7’s, doesn't do things like this.....does she!??) "Don't be silly, you can't box, you've never done anything like that in your life'" were a few of his words!! But.....here I am!!! Intense training, the most amazing support and the best bunch of people have lead me to participate in something I wouldn't ever of dreamed of doing, had I not of had a connection with the “Oak's Army Family" I took part in the Oak’s Girls bike ride in 2015 and this lead to a new love of road cycling and something I've never stopped doing since. So when the boxing event came up I thought "let's do this!" This has taken me completely out of any comfort zone I've ever been in and I love it!! I love the charity, I love the Oak’s Family and I love what these challenges give to people, who then as an absolute added bonus, make loads of money for a fantastic cause! I want to thank my sponsors LUCKETTS TRAVEL for your support. Knowing I'm helping to keep Oakley's dream alive gives me an amazing buzz and I can't wait till the next event already!!!

joe edmonds What a experience this has been. I found out about the charity from working for Dave and Lee. I've never done nothing for the charity before and I always wanted to do something, so I saw this as the perfect opportunity. There has been times where I thought I couldn't make it through the training camp, but, with help from the coaches and my fellow boxers I didn't give in. I want to say THANKYOU to all the coaches for giving up there own time to come and train us and my sponsor for backing me. I hope you enjoy the show.

louis hylands I wanted to be a part of something bigger then myself, be involved with a charity that makes a difference and an event where I can be with good people. After being lucky enough to win a bid for a round with Tony Oakey on the last show, the togetherness of the team really stayed with me. Even though I hadn’t been on the training camp I was made to feel welcome, so when the chance came to this show I jumped at it. The camp has been one hell of an experience and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. I hope we can do a young lad’s dream justice with the show on March 25th and I hope we raise loads of money for the foundation to keep doing the amazing work it does and put on a show that everyone enjoys. I want to thank HOUNSELL COMMERCIAL ALUMINIUM for supporting me and my journey. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

phil brooks After taking part in last year.

year’s show I decided to give it a go again this

As a young lad I did not real do a lot and certainly did not make the most of my youth. As I’ve grown older It has become important to me to try and make a difference and help improve the life’s of less fortunate people, the OAKLEY WATERMAN FOUNDATION is a fantastic charity which enables me to be part of something special and really make a difference to the life’s of sick children. In the two years I have been involved with the charity I have made some genuine lifelong friends and I would encourage anyone who wants to make a difference to get involved with the Oaks challenges and be part of something special. I would like to say a special thanks to Paul Miles for helping me out with my boxing & Chris Peden of HOPE & ANCHOR FITNESS with the guidance of these two guys, I am the fittest I have ever been and as important WILMOTT DIXON for their commitment to this cause. I would also like to thank lee, Big Kev & Gav, for all their time, commitment and effort training us, these guys work just as hard as fighters. I hope everyone enjoys the show and please show some support for all of the Oak’s fighters, many of whom are massively taking themselves out of their comfort zone tonight.

reece searle I am 20 years old currently working at Toolstation on a management programme to progress my retail career. I first met Dave and Lee along with many others involved in the charity just before the first boxing show, back then I never realised I would actually be participating in the third one ! I have had an excellent couple of years meeting so many inspirational people who push themselves to the limit for this amazing charity. Both Dave and Lee and all of Oak’s Army have inspired me, helping me personally without realising it . I feel very privileged that myself and my family can help raise money in the events to keep Oakley’s wish alive. I began getting involved with the boxing a couple of months before the new year when Lee and Jimma were training for the Evan Parry charity boxing evening , originally it was for the fitness but as my confidence grew along with the encouragement of the lads I decided to box this evening. I would like to say a few thankyou’s to people who have helped me over this last twelve weeks. Firstly my mum for organising my meals and constantly washing all my kit ! , my Dad who is not only sponsored me this evening (SEARLE CONSTRUCTION), bought my gloves and shorts but has also attended most training sessions including running with me at 6am .I also have to give a special mention to Milesy for pushing me all the way and teaching me,I owe him a great deal . Finally thank you to my girlfriend Lucy for supporting me all the way through this putting up with my ups and downs over the last twelve weeks. 20

shaun evans Unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to meet young Oakley, but his Mum and Dad, Lorraine and Dave, are doing a great job in keeping his dreams alive. I have taken part in a couple of the Oakley charity events, but this is by far the most challenging to date and I will also be supporting this great charity throughout 2017 in other events. I’ve continued boxing after fighting last year in Ryan McKinlay’s honour and the buzz of working with the guys in the gym and challenging myself personally keeps me and others going. I would like to thank this years sponsors ACS ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS and the coaches, family & friends that have supported me. I especially want to mention Paul, Tania, Gary and Micheala from ACS and Jason & Sue from THOMAS and SON. I hope you enjoy the show and keep supporting this great charity.

spencer hagedorn Having heard about this amazing charity boxing event from Lindsay Waterman at work, when the opportunity to take part came up, I ensured my name was down on the list to fight. It’s been an intense 12 weeks of training and I have met an amazing group of people! I would like to thank all of the coaches for their incredible support and advice. It has been a great experience and one I will never forget and is something I would 100% do again if the opportunity presented itself. I have loved all the training sessions with everyone and being motivated and pushed by those around me has helped me a lot! It’s now fight night and I feel both mentally and physically prepared to give it my all in the ring!
