“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
Photographs by Mr. Barry Robinson
It seemed like the whole town had come together, disregarding the cold, icy conditions, in a massive show of respect to remember our fallen, our fighters and our survivors. People of all ages were marching, lining the streets and then standing at the war memorial solemnly and respectfully laying wreaths.

Guinea Pigs Keeping Guinea Pigs as pets
Guinea Pigs are inquisitive, friendly animals that enjoy being handled and rarely bite or scratch – making them ideal pets for young children. They are active during the daytime, fun to watch and play with, and they communicate vocally, with different noises having different meanings! They originate from South America and live between 4 and 8 years. Males are known as boars; females as sows. They like company and, as with all pets, should be treated gently – they can be nervous creatures.
Housing: Your Guinea Pig can be kept indoors or
outdoors all year round. They do not like sudden loud noises so it’s best to position their hutch in a quiet position. A wooden hutch is ideal although a wire cage can also be used provided it is fitted with a plastic floor to avoid injury. Your hutch must be weatherproof with a separate nest area for each Guinea Pig and plenty of dry bedding - shredded paper or wheat straw are ideal but do not use fluffy bedding. A louvered door can be fitted over a wire door to offer protection in cold weather. Two Guinea Pigs should ideally be housed in a hutch or cage around 120 x 60 x 45cm. If using a smaller hutch, consider adding a separate run in the garden or allow your pets some daily supervised exercise outside their cage. The hutch should allow shade during the heat of the day and shelter from strong winds. A grass run can be built into the hutch or located elsewhere in your garden – again with a nest area protected from the sun. Keeping Guinea Pigs and Rabbits together in the same hutch is not recommended. They have different requirements and unless you have previous experience of keeping both pets together, they should not be mixed.
Feeding: Guinea Pigs are natural grazers so they should
be given plenty of fresh clean hay along with a quality Guinea Pig mix or pellets twice a day (note, Rabbit food is not suitable). Guinea Pigs lack the enzyme that produces vitamin C so it’s important to supplement their diet with small quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables - melon, oranges, and dark green leafy vegetables are all good sources but, as with Rabbits, care should be taken not to overfeed. You can also buy vitamin C to add to your Guinea Pig’s water – this is recommended. Fresh drinking water should always be available from a gravity bottle, and food should be given in earthenware bowls – Guinea Pigs will chew plastic!

as much floor space as possible – at least 900 sq cms – and provide them with an outdoor run. Guinea Pigs are not usually interested in toys, but may enjoy exploring cardboard boxes, tubes, or pipes, helping them feel safe, secure, and ‘hidden’ which in turn helps reduce stress. Hiding small amounts of food around the hutch is a fun way to keep them alert and active. They can also be allowed to run indoors under supervision but be sure to keep cats and dogs out of the way. Handling: Young Guinea Pigs are nervous creatures and and should be allowed to gradually get used to their surroundings – and to you. For the first few days, talk gently to your Guinea Pig to build up trust, then slowly introduce your hand into the hutch. Your Guinea Pig will become inquisitive and more confident around you. After a week or two, try picking up your pet using both hands. Place your thumb across its shoulders with your fingers wrapped gently around the ribs; place your other hand beneath the hindquarters for support. This is a good time to start grooming your Guinea Pig – something which should be done daily.
Breeding: Guinea Pigs can actually breed from 30 days, but to ensure healthy babies (and parents) it is recommended that males are not mated until 6 months; females 10 months. Pregnancy lasts 60-65 days, producing a litter of 3-4 babies. Young Guinea Pigs can be weaned at 3-4 weeks. Always seek expert advice before considering keeping a breeding pair.
Tips for a happy healthy Guinea Pig
Community: Guinea Pigs are sociable creatures so it’s best to keep a compatible pair or group - two young from the same litter (same sex) or a mother/daughter, father/son combination. Neutering and spaying will prevent unwanted litters and fighting. Health: A healthy Guinea Pig will be alert, have bright eyes and a shiny coat. Breathing should be quiet and regular. If you are worried about any aspect of your pet’s health, seek veterinary advice. For a healthy life, your Guinea Pig needs the following:
l Your time and attention - they love company l A good balanced diet with no sudden changes l Clean dry bedding changed daily l Clean dry housing, cleaned once a week with a mild disinfectant l No extreme or sudden changes in temperature l Water bottle and feed bowls cleaned daily l Gnawing blocks and chew toys to help wear their continually growing teeth l Daily grooming – especially for longhaired breeds.

The three-course New Year’s Eve menu (£85pp for non-guests) features lobster ravioli, guinea fowl, and white chocolate and raspberry creme brulee. The pub provides pamphlets for six circular walks that will blow away the cobwebs on New Year’s Day; its bar is designed for muddy walkers (and pets), and serves ale from the Wye Valley Brewery and cider from nearby Whitehouse Farm.

The regular menu is unsurprisingly seafood-heavy – tikka-spiced monkfish, crab pizza – and the cocktail list imaginative (the 90s cosmopolitan gets a rhubarb and blood orange twist). Its inaugural New Year’s Eve party features a “fruits de mer spectacle” and “roast meat stations”, and entertainment including magicians and DJs.

Dale House, Dove Holes, Buxton, Derbyshire
Combining rustic charm with all mod cons, Dale House in Derbyshire is a party pad. There’s a modern kitchen, dining room for 30, two large living rooms, 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, across two properties. Litton village is a short walk away and the market town of Bakewell is nearby, as is Buxton; but it’s the rural location – surrounded by five dales, with great walks on the doorstep – that makes this place such a treat.
Due to a cancellation, four nights for up to 30 people at New Year is £6,000, or £50pp per night (low season £6,500 a week). coolstays.com
Cottage Lodge, Brockenhurst, New Forest
A charming low-rise, whitewashed building just five minutes walk from Brockenhurst station, Cottage Lodge has 15 pretty rooms named after local woodland beauty spots, several with Tolkienesque four-posters.

The restaurant, White Tails, has a six-course NYE gala dinner for £65 a head, including a glass of prosecco and a “surprise tipple”. The waiting staff will include an actress recreating Julie Walters’ role in Victoria Wood’s Two Soups sketch. There is a range of forest walks from the door to blow away the hangover.

Christmas Day
Cherry pecan Christmas pudding This lighter version of the classic Christmas pud is still full of festive flavours. Citrus zest and brandy are added to this nutty spiced
fruitcake. Ingredients
1 medium carrot, finely grated | zest and juice 1 lemon | 1 orange, zested and segments cut out | 100g light muscovado sugar | 1 tsp mixed spice | 100ml brandy 50ml Disaronno | 100g butter, frozen, plus 25g extra for greasing | 2 large eggs, beaten 50g blanched almond, half of each chopped | 50g pecan nuts, half of each chopped | glace cherries | 100g selfraising flour | 175g fresh white breadcrumbs | 2 tbsp golden syrup | 1 sprig of holly, to decorate (optional)
Method
1 Put the mixed fruit, glacĂŠ cherries, mixed peel, carrot,
lemon and orange zest in a bowl with the sugar and spice. Pour in the lemon juice and alcohol and stir really well. Cover and leave to soak overnight. 2 Heat oven to 160C/140C fan/gas 3 and boil a full kettle of water. Grease a 1.5-litre pudding basin and put a disc of baking parchment in the base. Stir the eggs into the fruit mixture, then stir in the chopped nuts, flour and breadcrumbs. Finally, grate in the frozen butter, stirring the mixture frequently so that it evenly disperses. 3 For the topping, mix the soft butter and golden syrup together, and spread over the bottom of the basin. Pile in the whole cherries, orange segments and whole nuts,

breaking the pecans in half as you add them. Try not to just make a thick layer of fruit and nuts on the base – ease some up the side too. Spoon in the pudding mixture and level the top, then cover with baking parchment and foil. Tie the top with string or an extra-large rubber band, then place in a roasting tin and pour in the water from the kettle. Cover the whole thing with a tent of foil to seal in all the steam, then place in the oven for 6 hrs. This gives a light pudding, so if you prefer a darker one, cook for up to 8 hrs. Will keep in the fridge for 1 month. If you want it to last longer, omit the orange segments.
4 To serve, steam in a large pan with an upturned saucer on the base for 2 hrs, then turn out and decorate with holly, if you like. Serve with Brandy syrup cream.

Boxing Day
Roast potato, turkey, sausage & stuffing pie This easy pie has all the best bits from Christmas dinner in one: turkey, stuffing, sausage and roasties. Bake until golden brown and tuck in! Method
1 Heat the oil and butter in a large, shallow
ovenproof casserole dish. Add the onion and cook for 10 mins until really soft. Push the onion to one side of the dish and add the sausages, browning them all over (skip this step if you’re using cooked leftovers).
2 Remove the sausages from the dish and set aside to cool a little. Stir the mustard powder, flour and stock cube into the oil and butter for 1-2 mins, then add the white wine. Bubble for 1 min, scraping the bottom of the dish to release any tasty bits, then add the stock. Stir to make a smooth sauce, season and bubble for 5 mins. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. 3 Cut the sausages and stuffing into bite-sized chunks, add to the sauce with the turkey, mustard, crème fraîche and parsley. When bubbling, remove from the heat. Crumble the potatoes in your hands over the top of the filling, so you have some larger and smaller chunks. Scatter with cheese and bake for 40 mins until the potatoes are crisp and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil or rapeseed oil | 1 knob of butter | 1 large onion, halved and sliced 6 sausages or 8 chipolatas | 2 tsp English mustard powder | 50g plain flour | 1 chicken stock cube, crumbled | 150ml white wine 500ml chicken stock or leftover gravy 6 stuffing balls, leftover or shop-bought 300g cooked turkey, shredded | 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard | 100g low-fat crème fraîche | small bunch parsley, chopped 800g leftover roast potatoes | 20g mature cheddar, grated.

Nothing says Christmas is on its way quite like the annual tradition (or ordeal) of putting up the family Christmas tree. Forget vacuuming up pine needles every day – it’s far easier to go artificial with trees,
and with so many great realistic designs that can last you for many years to come, we think it’s all the better to fake it. Take a look at the interesting new designs for 2017, all hoping to be the next big thing.

Best tinsel tree
Tinsel is back big time this year – we have it on good authority from John Lewis. You know they must stand by that claim because here is a tree entirely made of tinsel! If you want to make a style statement and break the mould of having a traditional pine green tree, go for tinsel! This statement tinsel tree is stylish enough just as it stands, but for further enhancement try dressing it with on-trend kitsch decorations. Keeping all the decorations to one colour palette or look will keep it looking the right side of stylish, rather than OTT. Best 3ft tree
Add a touch of Scandinavian charm to Christmas proceedings with a simple Nordic pine tree. The incredibly realistic look of this faux fir tree is in part down to the genuine pine cones added for decoration, and the fact that each branch has been expertly handpainted. It’s the attention to detail that makes The White Company trees so fabulous. The aged zinc-effect pot is a lovely finishing touch too. Gardening tips for
December
Many of us do more shopping and planning for our gardens during the winter months than actual gardening, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. In the warmer zones, December is the start of pleasant weather and a chance to enjoy planting cool season vegetables and flowers that don’t tolerate our summers.
Lawns
Avoid walking on lawns on frosty mornings when it is blanketed by heavy frost or snow, as this will damage the grass beneath. If it’s a mild winter, continue to cut the lawn if it’s growing, but raise the height of the mower blades. Spike lawns with a garden fork to improve drainage and aeration. Keep clearing leaves off the lawn to let the light in and prevent dead patches appearing. Send your lawnmower and shears to be serviced and sharpened while they are in less demand.
Gardening tip
Trees and shrubs
This is the ideal time to clean the greenhouse, pots using a pot brush and trays in readiness for plant raising. Wash down all of your garden tools and give them a wipe of linseed oil on the wooden and metal areas to help prevent rusting.
Protect newly planted trees, hedges and shrubs from cold winds and frosts, which can loosen and lift the roots. Gently re-firm them in if you notice this problem, and erect a temporary netting windbreak if there is no natural shelter. Thick dry mulches will protect the roots from cold, and branches can be covered with fleece, or even packed with dry straw and then covered with fleece, for tender plants. A wooden frame with clear polythene stretched over it does a similar job for evergreens without blocking the light, but don’t let the polythene touch the leaves, as condensation could freeze or cause rots.
40
Plant some shrubs for winter interest. If you still haven’t planted your tulip bulbs there is still time, provided the ground isn’t frozen.
Flowers & Plants
Should you have a few spare hours available, pruning dormant plants quite severely will prove beneficial for their growth next season. Gather up fallen leaves from around the base of rose bushes which suffered from blackspot or rust this summer, to reduce the chance of infection next year. Move containers of shrubs or bedding plants to a sheltered spot; clustering them together helps protect the root systems from suffering frost damage. Sowings can be made of coleus, cyclamen and geranium provided suitable temperatures can be maintained. Taller growing bush roses can be pruned down by about half which will prevent the wind from causing them to become loose through swaying and in turn damaging the roots. The branches of standard roses should also be shortened. Bare-rooted rose bushes can be planted this month.
Winter pond care
Use pond heaters to keep ponds from freezing over, as this can be fatal for fish and other pond life. There are other precautions you can take to prevent your pond freezing over, if you do not have a heater. To make a hole in frozen ponds, hold a saucepan of hot water on the surface until melted through. Do not crack the ice, as this is harmful to fish.
Wild Birds
Wash and disinfect bird feeders and bird tables. Clean out bird baths too. Hang fat balls and keep bird feeders topped up to attract birds, who will in turn eat pests in your garden. Please remember to hang bird feeders at a height so that they will be beyond the reach of cats.

Motoring review
December
The new Jaguar XE It’s a family affair
wonder what they talk about around the Callum family table. Older brother Ian, now 63, is the head of design at Jaguar, while Moray, four years his junior, is vice president of design at Ford. Maybe they play Top Trumps, with their own car designs. Ian’s stunning F-Type would just edge Moray’s new Mustang. Between them, the two brothers from Dumfries have given car lovers some rare beauties over the years.
But not all are instant winners. Further down Ian’s deck of cards, you’ll find the new XE. It’s rather witheringly described as a “junior executive saloon”.
If you’re the sort who aspires to the executive classes, this would put you right off. “Junior” is hardly the stuff of corner offices, hostile takeovers and three-martini lunches. But the XE has quickly established itself as Britain’s leading combatant in the eternal battle against the German trio of the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4. Auto Express certainly thinks the baby Jag is worth a punt – the magazine has named it best “compact executive car” for the past three years running. You might argue this was patriotic attempt to big up the British entry, as empirically the German threesome are ahead in performance, equipment and efficiency, but for the junior exec wishing to stand out in the corporate snake pit, the XE packs a very seductive punch. Motoring review
December
The mid-size XE replaces the unloved X-Type and sits neatly beneath the more lavish XF and XJ saloons. It’s unmistakably a Jag and has the trademark “Coventry face” – a rectangular grille flanked by slim headlights. From the front it really is a terrific looking car. This is its best side. Walk around to the back, however, and Ian seems to have given up – the rear looks as tedious as a meeting with accounts. I tried to pop the boot of a Ford Mondeo parked next to me at Sainsbury’s. They looked so similar I couldn’t fathom why my key wasn’t working. Once you do open the boot you’ll then have to leave half your shopping on the pavement as the storage space is small and weirdly configured. Golfers take note: it would fail the double bag test. Inside, the elegantly sloping roofline takes a big bite out of the headroom for your rear passengers. Moving forward to the midway point of the car and things start to look up; everything from here – seats, cabin, cockpit, aesthetics – is of a higher grade.
Perhaps the best approach to an XE, which will also serve you well in your business career, is ‘don’t worry, don’t look back’. But there’s plenty to applaud. The cabin is roomy and well configured – an elegant wraparound fascia makes it feel both welcoming and professional. The XE also comes with a rotary gear selector which rises solemnly from the centre console every time you press the starter button, adding a theatrical touch to the mundane act of ignition. On the road, the overriding sense is that the XE is both hair-raising and in complete control, which is a tricky double act to pull off. Mostly this is thanks to the new Ingenium engines. The entry-level diesel has a 2-litre with 161bhp, which in some configurations will do a headline grabbing 99g of CO2 per km. But it’s the superb petrol 2-litre with 197bhp that caught my eye, delivering a heady mix of both pace and peacefulness.

MKM Building Supplies raise funds for Eresby School Basically we started doing this because our rep from Marsh Industries (who sell water & waste water treatment products) came in and their way of advertising is by making charity tubs in the shape of their tanks so it’s good advertising for them and good for us because we are doing something good for our local community. All we had to do was pick a charity and we all thought it would be a good idea to choose the Eresby school. It’s a school for disabled children in Spilsby and they constantly need money to help with funds for things they need for the children and as soon as you say diabled everything goes up in price! We are still raising money as well at the moment so we haven’t got a total yet of what we have raised but I will let you know! Hollie Simpson MKM Building Supplies (Skegness) Ltd

Christmas and New Year
Hangover cures For many of us the holiday season is synonymous with partying and with that, of course, comes the natural temptation to over-indulge. Food, and more specifically, alcohol are consumed in copious quantities and even the most
hardened party-goer can be left feeling the worse for wear. These handy tips will separate fact from fiction and hopefully help prevent Christmas and New Year turning into one long hangover!
Te mts
Having a fry-up the morning after:
Alcohol causes blood sugar to fall, tricking your body into thinking it needs more calories. We therefore crave fatty foods as they are the most concentrated form of energy, but they don’t make us feel better.
Hair of the dog:
There’s no evidence to suggest that having another alcoholic drink the following morning reduces hangover symptoms. It’s more likely to merely postpone its effects.
Eating before bedtime:
The alcohol cannot be absorbed in this way. The food has to be in your stomach first.
Drinking water the morning after:
This will not flush out the alcohol. It will help, but it is much more important to take on water while you are actually drinking alcohol.
Sleeping it off:
Spending the following day in bed will not help you recover quicker. The last thing you will want to do is get out of bed and walk around the block, but it is exactly what you should do. Alcohol leaves the body through urine and through your breath, so if you want to sober up faster, get yourself out for a walk or a jog.
Drinking a strong cup of black coffee: Sorry caffeine lovers, but this is another myth. Caffeine will increase alertness and focus your attention, but it won’t help your body process alcohol any faster. Not only that coffee is very acidic, so if you’re already feeling queasy then it might just make you vomit.
Te tuh
Eat before you start drinking: Food in the stomach (especially carbs and starch such as pasta and bananas) slows down the absorbtion of alcohol into your blood. Keep hydrated:
Follow each drink with a glass of water and drink plenty of water before you go to sleep.
Don’t drink dark liquors:
Try to avoid drinks such as red wine, brandy or whisky, which have higher concentrations of congeners, chemicals which are toxic to the body.
Avoid spicy foods:
Don’t be tempted by a curry or kebab after drinking as they may upset your stomach.
Get some fresh air:
Walk home with friends - exercise helps increase the speed at which alcohol leaves the body.
Vitamin B is your friend:
Eat a bowl of cereal and milk, topped with a banana to replenish lost potassium, or a gentle probiotic drink.
Eggs: Eggs may have a beneficial effect in reducing the effects of a hangover because they contain an amino acid called cysteine which breaks down acetaldehyde, a toxin produced by excessive alcohol consuption. Moderation:
As a rule, men should not drink more than 3-4 units of alcohol per day; women no more than 2-3 units.
Avoid drinking too much!
Obvious, we know, but it’s still the best hangover prevention method available.

Donna Nook National Nature Reserve It’s that time of year again.... Grey seals
For much of the year grey seals at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trusts’ Donna Nook National Nature Reserve are at sea or hauled out on distant sandbanks. Every November and December, the seals give birth to their pups near the sand dunes: a wildlife spectacle which attracts visitors from across the UK.
The Viewing Area - open late October to December
The viewing area at the foot of the sand dunes reduces disturbance to the seals and ensures the safety of visitors. Visitors should be aware that the Ministry of Defence maintains part of the area as a bombing target range. The seal viewing area is accessible at all times. Seals are large predators and are very powerful. They can move surprisingly quickly and, having teeth similar to a dog, can inflict a nasty bite – including the pups. Mothers with pups can be very protective and big bulls can be aggressive. A mother seal may abandon her pup if it smells of humans or dogs.
Visitor Guidelines
For your own safety and to reduce disturbance to the seals, please follow these guidelines: ● Stay within the viewing area behind the fence.
Photography at Donna Nook All visitors should follow the Visitor Guidelines above. It is possible to get wonderful photographs from the viewing area. From this location the full spectacle can be witnessed from cute seal pups and interactions between mother and pup to the powerful and brutal fights between the males. When taking wildlife photographs it is important to remember: ● The welfare of the subject is more important than the photograph ● Photography should not be undertaken if it puts the subject at risk from disturbance, physical damage, and lessened reproductive success, or if it causes the subject anxiety ● Please read the Nature Photographers’ Code of Conduct.
● Strictly observe all red flag and other bombing range warnings ● Never feed or pet the seals ● No unaccompanied children ● No dogs. Please be considerate when visiting: park only in designated areas. If possible, visit during the week – at weekends, the narrow lanes and car park get very congested. Organised group visits should be booked in advance. Contact the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Headquarters on 01507 526667, email info@lincstrust.co.uk
Facilities
Main car park ‘Stonebridge’ ● Maintained by the Environment Agency ● Well-surfaced path to the viewing area ● Limited number of disabled bays with ramp access to the path ● Free ● No toilets ● No parking overnight ● Catering van (private) operates throughout the season selling hot drinks and food.
Overflow car park
Privately operated, in a farmers field. No disabled access. Access to the seal viewing area is over the sand dunes (unsurfaced) – £2 Toilets (only for those who park in this car park) – there are public toilets in North Somercotes. Places to eat and stay are available in North Somercotes and the local area. See the village website and Lincolnshire Tourism for further information.
To all our new members who haven’t visited the beautiful Donna Nook yet but are planning to; as you can imagine it gets quite busy at the height of pupping season, so a local farmer lets out one of his fields every day as a makeshift car park. He usually charges a small £2 fee. There are toilet facilities on this field, also a food van and other stalls. The wardens will happily answer any questions you may have. There are donation boxes scattered about so please give generously if you can. We hope you all have a safe journey and a memorable experience. Photographs are courtesy of Mr. Ian Long

Your Horoscopes
December
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries people will need to stay alert this month in order to keep up with recent events. Demands will be made on your time from a lot of different people - some of whom will be professional colleagues and some will be family members. Don’t be afraid to say “no” to unrealistic demands. You will gain more respect this way than you would by trying to please everyone all of the time.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
December will present many good opportunities for Taurus men and women. As it unfolds, more and more chances for you to further yourself and improve your life will present themselves. You would be unwise not to make the most of what is offered. Things often happen for good reasons and Taurus folk would be wise to try to understand that when one door closes, another opens.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
What a happy month for Geminis! Your December horoscope indicates great joy in social occasions, celebrations and get-togethers. You will not be short of party invitations if you are single. If you are settled in a partnership, you too will have a fun time together and in the company of friends and family. It is the perfect time to reflect on the positive effects that have helped to shape the year favourably for you.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Your friends and family will welcome spending time with you, and you are going to enjoy the socialising that comes with this month. Overall, 2017 has been a positive year for those born under the water sign of the Crab. You are likely to be in high spirits and will enjoy the parties and social events you are invited to. The family will play a very important part in the celebrations.
LEO (July 23- August 22)
In this month, your Leo life will change for the better. You are most likely to notice a steady improvement as the month moves on. You will be in high spirits around the festive period and your social calendar is likely to be full. I foresee lots of fun and laughter in the lives of Leo people, some of whom could take to the stage, a place where many of you feel right at home.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
There could be some arguments and disagreements in both your personal and professional life. If you are extra careful you can avoid getting mixed up in them. Folk born under the Virgo sign of the Maiden are blessed with diplomatic skills and this will be a chance to show others how well you can handle people around you with tact and diplomacy.

Find out what’s in the stars for you this month
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
You could be feeling a bit nostalgic at this time of year, 2017 Libra! If you have lost loved ones, your thoughts might turn to them, and memories from your childhood could come flooding back to you. If you are in a sentimental mood, it may be best to go with the flow and let the year meet its end without too much ado. If you find yourself reflecting on some of the challenges you’ve faced this year, you can feel proud that you have met them all.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
This will be a very positive month for those people born under the water sign of Scorpio. You are likely to spend some of your happiest times in the company of family and friends. You might be tempted to spend some of your hard-earned cash on one very expensive item. Above all, you will feel happy in yourself and generally relaxed around others. The positive vibrations you send out will be picked up on by those closest to you.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
This will be an easy month for you, Sagittarians! It is the perfect time to relax, take things at a slower pace and recharge your batteries. Even if your mind is focused on your next activity, you should enjoy this phase when no demands are made on you. I foresee reading, engaging in group sports and a short break away for those born under the Fire sign.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorn horoscope predictions for 2017 have indicated that your life has become very stable in terms of your career and finances. Capricorn men and women can look back at the end of 2017 and be proud of what they have achieved. Others will be proud too - especially those closest to you. One area that may need attention is your love life and relationship, which does not seem settled or particularly stable. Perhaps this should be your main focus in 2018.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
This is a month where everything seems to work out for the best, and very much in your favour. You will find the right balance between work and home life, feeling a great sense of achievement while at the same time feeling that you have not neglected home or family life. You will have made the right adjustments in retaining your personal independence without shunning family obligations. Those in partnerships can reflect on a generally very happy 12 months.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisceans are likely to feel that they have reached the end of a very steep learning curve this month, feeling much more settled and grounded as a result. Those born under the sign of the Fish will be able to look forward - not backwards - to the exciting new future that beckons them in 2018.
