Jiten Barot
Jiten joined East Lane last summer and his audition for a part in was his first attempt to get a
part. He acted at school and has wanted to have another go for ages.

The audition process was to read for several roles rather than one particular role – though, had
he been selected, Krogstad would have been his preferred part. He has not had much acting
experience so he was looking for a small part. Unfortunately, all the parts inA Doll’s Houseare
quite big roles. However, he found the audition experience itself was very worthwhile as it was the
first step in reading to a small audience from the stage.
At first it was quite nerve-racking but once he started reading he got caught up in the character
and was involved in the action. Afterwards, other members of East Lane gave him good tips,
such as avoiding swaying while he was standing and reading as the character rather than
simply reading. These and adjusting his tonalities will come with experience. He said that he was
not disappointed as he had achieved the initial experience of trying and enjoyed it.
Jiten is a marketing manager and felt that there is a direct link between acting and the
marketing presentations he routinely undertakes. As a manager he appreciated the
professional and organised way in which the audition process was conducted.
