WELCOME FROM OUR FOUNDER When I founded David Game College in 1974, I had a clear vision of the type of educational establishment I wanted to create. Now, over 49 years on, our ethos remains the same: to promote the joy of learning and knowledge to our students in the context of academic rigour and curiosity, while remaining focused on enabling them to achieve examination success and secure a place at university. Our aim, now as then, is to ensure that every student who passes through our College leaves more skilled and informed, prepared for their next academic journey, and more mature in their understanding and respect for others. Since 1974, over 10,000 students have studied with us and have, with our help, secured places on degree courses at top British universities. I am often asked what makes David Game College different from other colleges. Part of what makes us unique is our genuine independence. The College is not part of a larger commercial group that has to consider its shareholders’ interests. At David Game College our students’ interests come first. David Game Co-Principal & Founder – MA (Oxon), MPhil (Lond)

21ST CENTURY URBAN BOARDING IN CENTRAL LONDON David Game College is an exciting educational establishment to be part of these days. Ambitious, driven and innovative, the College provides all of its students with exceptional academic and pastoral support. The addition of boarding to our day-college provision is one of the most important developments in the College’s history. I strongly believe that boarding not only enhances and enriches the academic experience of students, it also provides the environment for students to go beyond the core curriculum, and explore and discover what really interests them. Boarding improves everything we do – it helps students form strong friendships and a cohesive college community, it offers students the opportunity to grow in confidence and develop new skills that prepare them for life. Boarders have all of the College’s facilities at their disposal. There is always scope to establish new clubs or arrange trips. London certainly has a great deal to offer. Our weekend boarding trips include sightseeing around London as well as surrounding areas. My role, and that of all the staff at the College, is to provide you, the student, with a safe, nurturing environment within which no student will be limited or defined by their past, and where dreams can become a reality and all can excel academically. I look forward to welcoming you to David Game College Boarding. Mr John Dalton Co-Principal – BSc, CBiol, MRSB davidgamecollege.com | 5

GCSE Results
David Game College really helped me mature, I really feel like I am a new person in a way. I’ve been really focused on studies, in my old school I wasn’t as focused. I’ve never had teachers that have been so caring, they have helped me so much; so I think David Game College is the place to go. Talia, GCSE Student

GCSES This is a one-year or two-year course, for students who have finished Year 9 in the UK or abroad. We prepare our students for the IGCSE examination in most subjects, because we believe that the IGCSE is a better preparation for future AS and A level study, being more rigorous and more traditionally academic than the GCSE.

I liked my course tutors because they were knowledgeable and patient. If I didn’t understand something at first, they made sure I understood it before the class was over. The smaller class sizes minimised distraction and continual assessment made it easier to study for my exams. Cherish, UFP Student

TEACHING & LEARNING EXPERIENCED TUTORS All our tutors have a first degree in the subject they teach, and many also hold doctorates, or other postgraduate degrees and teaching certificates. Many of them have worked as examiners with the major GCSE and A level examination boards. Our tutors are great motivators. Their dynamic and enthusiastic approach to their subjects inspires our students to work hard and succeed.
SMALL CLASSES Our small classes enable students to form good working relationships with their tutors, and guarantee that all students receive individual attention. In most subjects classes are limited to six to eight students. Some Economics and Mathematics classes are delivered to slightly larger groups of 12 to 15 students, but receive additional tutorial classes in smaller groups.
SUPERVISED STUDY SESSIONS GCSE students have supervised study sessions built into their timetables, ensuring that they are in College. The study session supervisor provides help and advice, and ensures that students put these sessions to good use and remain focussed on their work.
ACADEMIC AND PASTORAL SUPPORT All students are assigned a Personal Tutor whom they meet weekly and with whom they can discuss any problems or concerns, whether academic or personal. Personal Tutors are responsible for monitoring their students’ progress. They work closely with the Head of Sixth Form and Head of GCSE and provide students with initial advice about career and university options.
The diversity of the programme allows everyone to make new friends which helped me mentally and academically throughout this rigorous course. Adham, UFP Student

EVENTS, CLUBS & ACTIVITIES LEARNING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in trips and visits outside lesson time. Such initiatives give our students the chance to consolidate their learning in a more informal and relaxed environment and to further develop stronger relationships with each other and with staff. Our students have the chance to attend regular events relating to their studies such as Art, Music, Film and undertake visits for specific fieldwork for subjects like Geography and Biology. The College also organises educational trips to visit the many iconic sites in London and its surrounding areas.

SPORTS AND FITNESS Sports and fitness are also one of our priorities. London has many clubs, swimming pools and parks. If you like exercising and keeping fit, you will have plenty of choices. Our central London location means we take full advantage of using the local sports facilities. We also have an on-site gym. We hold regular training sessions and play matches against other colleges, in sports such as basketball and football. Other popular activities are badminton, squash, dance and yoga clubs.

CENTRAL LONDON LOCATION David Game College is located in the heart of the City of London, with part of the ancient walls of the Roman City of Londinium running through its basement and displayed in a museum within the Boarding House itself. Historic buildings such as the Tower of London, Bank of England and St Paul’s Cathedral are interspersed with modern steel and glass skyscrapers – the Gherkin, the Walkie Talkie, the Cheesegrater – which mixes the ancient and the modern, and tells the story of the development of London over the past 2000 years.
Shopping areas such as Spitalfields Market and Borough Market (London’s most renowned food market) along with the art, design and fashion hub of Brick Lane and Shoreditch are all within easy walking distance. Many of London’s elite universities such as LSE, UCL, King’s College London, City and SOAS can also be easily visited from the College. All of which creates a unique and inspiring environment for our students to live and learn in. David Game College is only a short bus or underground journey away from London’s many mainline train stations. It is also quick and easy to reach, via express train and underground, from the major London airports of Gatwick, Heathrow or Stansted.
