Welcome from our Founder When I founded David Game College in 1974, I had a clear vision of the type of educational establishment I wanted to create. Now, over 49 47 years on, our ethos remains the same: to promote the joy of learning and knowledge to our students in the context of academic rigour and curiosity, while remaining focused on enabling them to achieve examination success and secure a place at university. Our aim, now as then, is to ensure that every student who passes through our College leaves more skilled and informed, prepared for their next academic journey, and more mature in their understanding and respect for others.

If you would like to visit the College, please contact us to arrange an appointment. It would give me great and our current students. pleasure to welcome you to David Game College and to introduce you to my 4

About the College Established in 1974, David Game College is a boarding and day independent college located in the City of London. As a co-educational establishment, we are very studentcentred, looking after all the specific needs of those in our care. We have well-established and robust systems for ensuring that the academic and pastoral needs of all students are well monitored and no individual is left behind. We are ambitious for all of our students and we think deeply about how we sequence, plan and deliver our curriculum. To this end, we stretch and challenge our students academically and we are skilled in adaptive learning, ensuring that all students make progress.

Our boarding provision is a new and exciting development of the College, which has improved our facilities, extracurricular provision, pastoral care and the focus on the individual student’s academic needs. Our results demonstrate significant added value in the teaching of our GCSE and A level curriculum and we send the majority of our students on to a university of their choice, many of which are within the Russell Group. We welcome you to become part of our educational family.

At David Game College we take great pride in our ability to cater for students of all educational abilities and backgrounds. Our tutors have high expectations, so all students – including the most able – are stretched intellectually and encouraged to aim high. If students are capable of gaining entry to the most competitive degree courses and the most prestigious universities, they have an excellent chance of being successful here.

‘David Game College has been life changing and one the bestwho We are proudof of our students achieve top grades, but we are experiences’ also committed to raising the level

We recognise that A level grade C, for example, constitutes a major underachievement for some a cause for celebration for others. For many students, David Game College represents a fresh approach, a new beginning. This is particularly true where students have become large classes at their previous school or college, leading underachievement.

Our Values Ambition | Curiosity | Self-belief | Tolerance David Game College is committed to providing high quality education, ensuring that all students experience rapid learning and achieve their ambition. Our role is to ignite a flame of learning and curiosity within students so they can understand and relate to the complexities of the world they will inherit. We want our students to be ambitious and optimistic about their futures and to be prepared to push themselves to achieve the extraordinary. For us there are no barriers to learning; students should be encouraged to break free from any limiting self-doubts, and not be constrained by the past. In this regard, we have a strong commitment to students’ mental health and wellbeing, ensuring that students can handle setbacks and become resilient. Our strategic vision is clear – select and develop the very best teachers to deliver a progressive and modern curriculum that not only gives students the knowledge and techniques to excel in examinations, but also the critical thinking skills and broader education to navigate their place in the world. Our ethos and values are reflected in our curriculum; students should not be limited or defined by the past and it is the College’s role to develop students self-belief, and confidence to grow and ask questions and learn within a safe, tolerant environment, one that respects ambition and works towards enabling a dream to become a reality. The curriculum successfully blends traditional values with modernity. We never lose sight of the fundamentals – literacy and numeracy – and we take care to ensure that students understand the importance of detail, without losing sight of the bigger picture. We encourage and foster a learning environment that is tolerant and respects the beliefs and values of all. In this regard, the College is non-denominational and welcomes everyone. Values and beliefs that unite the College include: · · · · · · ·

Self-belief Endeavour and resilience Tolerance and respect for others A desire to explore the great issues of the day Ambition Not being limited or defined by the past Respect for what the past can teach us in the present

Our Vision To be recognised as a centre of excellence for boarding and day education, and one that provides a rich educational experience to prepare students for the complex challenges and opportunities of the 21st Century.

Preparing for University Entry At David Game College, we prepare our students very thoroughly for their future careers. Students wishing to study at a British university are required to submit an application to the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). We guide our students through every stage of the UCAS application process. Our UCAS Advisor, holds regular one-to-one meetings with all A level students, providing them with individual support tailored to their needs that includes specialist advice and information about subject choices and combinations, suitable degree courses and which offers to accept.

Our UCAS Advisor also helps students to write an effective personal statement and to complete their UCAS form correctly. Those students who are invited to interview receive coaching in interview techniques and mock interview practice. In addition to supporting students with their UCAS application, our UCAS Advisor offers careers advice and can help students to arrange work experience placements, providing guidance about composing an eyecatching CV and writing a covering letter.

We were very pleased to attend the Cife (The Council for Independent Education) Awards Ceremony at the House of Lords hosted by Lord Lexdon OBE. Eshaya Lim, an ex David Game College student, won an award for outstanding for science and mathematics and her performance in Year 12 was commendable. She has all the characteristics of a determined, academically driven person and she showed herself to be a role model among the students. We are very grateful for her work on the student council and her contribution to the school community. Eshaya is now studying Medicine at Imperial College.

Extracurricular Activities and Events Learning Outside the Classroom

Sports and Fitness

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in trips and visits outside lesson time. Such initiatives give our students the chance to consolidate their learning in a more informal and relaxed environment and to further develop stronger relationships with each other and with staff.

Sports and fitness are also one of our priorities. London has many clubs, swimming pools and parks. If you like exercising and keeping fit, you will have plenty of choices. Our central London location means we take full advantage of using the local sports facilities. We also have an on-site gym. We hold regular training sessions and play matches against other colleges, in sports such as basketball and football. Other popular activities are badminton, squash, dance and yoga clubs.

Our students have the chance to attend regular events relating to their studies such as Art, Music and Film and undertake visits for specific fieldwork for subjects like Geography and Biology. The College also organises educational trips to visit the many iconic sites in London and its surrounding areas.
