Dr. Nyambane fi rst joined Davenport as an adjunct instructor in 2004 and continued on to earn the rank of associate professor. In addition, he has served as associate department chair and program director, associate dean, and most recently, the interim dean of the college.
He also received a post-graduate certifi cate in fi nance and a graduate certifi cate in data analytics from Davenport, which he earned after completing his Ph.D. from MSU in agricultural economics.
“Dr. Nyambane has shown a keen interest in serving the institution when and how it has needed him,” said Dr. Gilda Gely, provost and executive vice president of academic aff airs. “He redesigned the Data Analytics program and developed two Data Analytics concentrations for the MBA degree program. These became graduate certifi cates that enable students to get stand-alone credentials in data mining or predictive analytics. We look forward to working with him as he continues to expand the college’s off erings to meet Davenport’s Vision 2025 goals.” One focus over the upcoming year for Dr. Nyambane will be leveraging partnerships to explore new program opportunities.
“I am excited to lead the college at this pivotal moment when it is projected that STEM jobs will be the future of our economy,” said Dr. Nyambane. “With our fi rst-class faculty, we have countless opportunities to create in-demand programs such as mental health counseling, strategic communication and media literacy, data science, and many more that will guarantee our students strong careers while also providing essential services to our communities.”
The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to providing a foundation of excellence for students, equipping them with the core skills necessary to achieve the highest level of academic and professional performance.
“Now, more than ever, employers seek graduates who are not only professionals in their chosen fi elds, but are also equipped with the critical skills needed to be productive members of their organizations and communities,” said Dr. Nyambane. “We need to provide our students the skills and expertise to be problemsolvers, good communicators, critical thinkers, and embrace cultural diversity — and that is exactly what we are going to deliver."
