Riding Club The Dauntsey’s Equestrian Club is open to all pupils and is a sociable, fun and popular club. There are 40 places available, divided into two sessions (by year group). The club attends Grovely Riding Centre once a week for a 1.5 hour session - 40 minutes is focused on stable management and 40 minutes on riding, either in the school or out on a hack. Club members work towards their BHS (British Horse Society) Progressive Riding Test Certificates. Club members are not required to have their own horse.
Riding Team The Dauntsey’s Equestrian Team is a successful and dedicated team of around 25 riders who wish to represent Dauntsey’s at various competitions throughout the year. Members of the Team must have access to their own horse and transport and the horses are kept privately. Regular training sessions are available with local professionals after school or on a Sunday. Team members are potentially, able to chose Riding as their sport as they move further up the school. This is a close-knit community with many of the parents playing an active role.

Grovely Riding Centre Grovely Riding Centre is located just three miles west of Salisbury. Set in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, the school has access to an extensive range of bridleways across downlands and through the ancient Grovely woods. Grovely has 18 horses and ponies which have been carefully selected and are matched to riders ability. The team of instructors are all BHS qualified, offering high quality instruction in a friendly and supportive environment. Additional Facilities • • • •

Competitions Dauntsey’s Riding Team regularly competes in showjumping, eventing and dressage competitions. We have won at Windsor Horse Show, Hickstead and regularly place at the NSEA championships. We have a team of over 20 riders competing between 70 and 110cm. The Dauntsey’s Riding Team is made up of a dedicated and committed group of riders. It has momentum behind it and Dauntsey’s has become a well renowned school on the equestrian school circuit.
Head of Riding - Lucie McNichol Our Head of Riding, Lucie McNichol competed at top level Eventing (5*) and for team GB. Lucie now trains our riding squad alongside Australian Olympic Silver medal winner Lucinda Fredericks and 5* eventer Louisa Lockwood. In addition to running the Equestrian Club, Lucie teaches Geography and Sport at Dauntsey’s.
Old Dauntseian Eventers Julia Norman (2005) nee Hussey - After leaving Dauntsey’s, Julia initially trained as a quantity surveyor. Julia now events professionally alongside breeding and producing event horses, and training race horses. Julia is based at Windmill Stud. David S. Doel (2011) - Coming from an eventing family, David left school to follow his dreams of riding professionally. In addition to competing, David now runs Reybridge Eventing and Lacock Dairy Ice Cream with his father. Libby Seed (2015) - After Dauntsey’s, Libby went on to study Medical Sciences at Exeter University. Libby now works full-time in the Medical Devices industry whilst competing as an amateur eventer. Highlights for Libby are Winning Gold at the Pony Europeans in 2013, Winning 4* in Poland 2021 and Jumping double clear at Badminton 5* 2022.
