The crushing realities of human trafficking are faced daily by survivors. Daughters of Charity combat these modern-day forms of slavery in countries including Colombia, Venezuela, Philippines, Nigeria and Tanzania. The variety of locations mirrors the variety of approaches. Sisters collaborate within their communities to create programs that include services needed to prevent, rescue, and reintegrate survivors into the community.

Unique features of these projects include the involvement of community organizations to assist with skill-building and job placement, as well as provision of counseling services, medical treatment, and education for both victims and their children.

Each program addresses the vital needs of mental and emotional health, establishing a support system, building a workable skill set and reintegrating into the community of choice for the survivors.

The hardships placed on victims do not end with removal from this horrific experience. Ongoing support and rehabilitation are necessary for these individuals to find true healing, safety, and the ability to thrive.

By approaching survivors with care and understanding, Sisters create a safety net of wraparound services specifically designed to meet the needs of their community and those they serve with devotion. - Sister Mary Louise
