Disasters and Emergencies It’s hard to watch the news sometimes. The steady barrage of disasters worldwide has made it difficult to process the devastation being experienced around the world. These emergencies take diverse forms – be it a natural catastrophe like the earthquake in Morocco or a manmade crisis such as the war in Ukraine. In the face of such adversity, it is important that we don’t just watch but actively engage and respond in whatever way we can.
Addressing a crisis requires a diverse array of responses and each is significant to the collective efforts aimed at resolving the challenge. Whether it takes the form of heartfelt prayers, generous donations, spreading awareness, offering support services, or providing handson assistance, our role is crucial. Daughters of Charity often find themselves on the front lines of disasters, particularly in impoverished areas that are prone to tragic upheavals. Dedicated sisters adeptly pivot their skills and activities to effectively address the urgent needs of crisis situations.
