The second high-profile cabinet minister in the United Kingdom has resigned amid political crisis over Brexit. Boris Johnson followed Brexit Secretary, David Davis in resigning from the UK Government. He resigned few hours after Davis plunging May’s Brexit into crisis.

Jeremy Hunt, New UK Foreign Secretary The Prime Minister swiftly appointed Dominic Raab (44), housing minister to replace David Davis and Jeremy Hunt as new Foreign Secretary.

10 Downing Street announced that Boris Johnson had quit UK Government in a short statement issued by 10 Downing Street-the office of the Prime Minister. The prime minister accepted the resignation of both two top UK Government officials. Theresa May ‘thanks Boris for his work’ May is ready to reshuffle her top team immediately after the resignation of the two top officials.

Martin Kettle said power is behind the Johnson’s decision to quit the UK Government. Keir Starmer said ‘Theresa May’s Brexit strategy has failed, Parliament must take the lead’.

UK Political critics say May is trying her best to save her Chequers deal and her leadership. David Davis said UK government has moved too far from its Brexit promises in what Davis described as a ‘dangerous strategy’.

Boris’s resignation letter May, The Prime Minister has replied Boris Johnson’s resignation stressed that he initially agreed to the plan over which he is now resigning. She states:

I am sorry – and a little surprised – to receive [your resignation letter] after the productive discussions we had at Chequers on Friday, and the comprehensive and detailed proposal which we agreed as a cabinet.

The new foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt promised May to support her strategy over the Brexit so that UK Government can get through an agreement with the European Union based on what was agreed by the Cabinet last week at Chequers.
