When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to work in the corner shop with all the sweets and chocolate… true fact!

What is your biggest accomplishment this month?

MADELINE IS CHASING ARTWORK

My morning starts by welcoming all our co-workers (new and old) into our hotdesking lounge and making sure they have everything they need to start their working day, next its getting myself a cup of tea so I can start my day, I sit on centre stage in reception and are on hand to anyone that needs me from our office members to our class and gym members, my days are always busy from answering emails, taking phone calls and arranging tours of our beautiful business centre and making sure I engage with as many people as I possibly can to sell new memberships.

When I left school I started life as an estate agent, then I ventured into property recruitment where I spent an amazing 27 years (18 years running my own business, still operational now, more on a part-time basis after my days spent at Sópers.

What is your go-to order on the Sópers menu?

Find out about our Memberships Manager

Meet Hayley

35 years ago when I first started working and I was working in my current job, I would have said “to manage a team of membership managers across a whole network of Sópers House’s” but I am very content within my current life and my work, as long as I am happy, work to the best of my ability and continue to help others around me achieve their goals and aspirations then that is good enough for me.

What app do you use the most on your phone? All social media sites; Facebook, Insta, Twitter, LinkedIn, Nextdoor – I am a networking junkie, and very nosey, LOL!

How do you relax and unwind after work? Relaxing… what’s that?!

Sucessfully growing our new members on a daily basis and helping to build a healthy Sópers House community with all my colleagues.

What does a typical day in the life at Sópers look like to you?

Haha! If you asked me this question

Do you really need to ask?!! I was voted ‘employee of the month’ by my work colleagues – enough said!

Whats the most exciting part of my job? Adding a new name to our ever growing members spreadsheet, my colleagues will tell you this pleases me very much.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced this month?

Whats the best place you have travelled to? New York..! Love, love, love being a tourist; enjoying broadway shows and hopping on and off the tourist buses, although Dubai was very special to me as well.

Where did you work before Sópers House?

What habit are you trying to get into (or get out of)?

Healthy eating, no fizzy drinks – I fail every day!

Oh my goodness this is a hard question, I love our chefs ever changing daily specials in our restaurant, but equally love our café’s classic beans on toast, I am very easily pleased.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

What made you want to become a footballer?

Who were your idols, growing up?

LOCAL SPORTS PERSONALITY JAKE LIVERMORE ANSWERS A FEW BRIEF QUESTIONS...

ou will no doubt have seen Jake around Sópers House, at one of the social events, or maybe in the gym. If you didn’t already know, he is a professional footballer and is currently captain of West Bromwich Albion.

My greatest achievement, in football, would definitely be playing for England, but also overcoming the few injuries I have had over the years.

My Dad, Mike Tyson and Zidane.

What would you consider to be the greatest achievement of your career?

My older cousin played for a local team (Percival) and they were a player short one day. I always liked cars as a kid, too, and this was the quickest and safest route for me to get one!

Growing up in Enfield most of my family and friends were either Tottenham or Arsenal fans, so there was always that banter from day one. We’ve had our ups and downs for bragging rights over the years.

Jake, you’re from the local area and came through the academy at Tottenham. What was that like?

You’ve recently made your 200th appearance for your current club West Bromwich Albion. How much do you enjoy your role as captain?

Born in 1989, Jake joined local club Tottenham Hotspur as a 16-year-old and his career has seen him play for several top-tier teams, with 200 Premier League appearances so far. He has also played for England – quite an accomplishment, whether you are a football fan or not.

Jake is a vocal, motivational figure for his fellow team-mates at West Bromwich Albion and continues to lead by example after more than five years at the club.

Here he is chatting to Madeline Wells:

A captain’s role can be rewarding at times, you become more like a big brother to the team, do the uncomfortable interviews, argue with the manager on the dressing room’s behalf etc, but overall it is a real honour.

Jake

11 ‘MYENGLAND’BEWOULDINACHIEVEMENT,GREATESTFOOTBALL,DEFINITELYPLAYINGFOR

My biggest inspirations would be those who have been at a low and then made their way back to the top (Tyson fury for example).

I’d have to be active doing something. I would have loved to have been a professional boxer but I am currently enjoying building a family home, maybe I would’ve done that a little earlier too.

Some of my favourite things outside of football are anything that involves my kids or boxing, which I do most nights up here at Sópers House when I can. Also cycling has become a favourite of mine over the last couple of years.

I have a love-hate relationship with golf, but it can be a nice way to unwind and I do like to play poker with a few close friends – nothing too crazy.

Who are your biggest inspirations?

Outside of football, what’s your favourite thing to do?

It’s every kid’s dream to play for their country. What was it like representing England?

I promised myself I’d start having earlier nights and be less grumpy in the morning. That habit is still in progress...

What app do you use the most on your phone?

The Rightmove app randomly takes up the majority of my day. That and the YouTube app, watching completely non-relevant stuff to me.

‘SOME OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS OUTSIDE OF FOOTBALL ARE ANYTHING THAT INVOLVES MY KIDS OR BOXING, WHICH I DO MOST NIGHTS UP HERE AT SÓPERS HOUSE’

It’s an amazing feeling representing your country, but while you are in it. I don’t think I really took the time to enjoy it. Nevertheless, looking back now, they were good times.

What would you do if you were not a footballer?

What habit are you trying to get into (or get out of)?

How do you like to relax and unwind after your workday?

We had toyed with the idea of serviced offices several years ago, but the Sópers House you all see today evolved through lockdown. Many of our commuting friends told us about the difficulties they faced with productivity slumps whilst ‘working from home’, and yet still not being able to physically go to their office.

CAROL-ANNE BRUNT

This is the first time in our working partnership of over twenty years that we have had the pleasure of seeing people enjoy the space we have created together, especially through the end of very difficult Covid restrictions.

JOURNEYFANTASTIC

W

itnessing Sópers House transform over the past twelve months into the buzzy community it is today, has filled my husband and I with overloads of pride and joy.

We wanted to create an all-round space where everybody’s to-do list is slightly shorter by the end of the day. The working

day doesn’t have to be consumed by grey walls and screens. There can be speciality coffee just steps away, haircuts, beautiful meeting spaces and post-work gym and class passes.

21

Thank you for the continued support with this journey.

We do believe we have achieved the all-inone dream and cannot wait for our future. Phase two is on its way…

3. WATCH YOUR WEIGHT

Get your desk assessed and consider investing in a good chair. Work on your core by doing pilates or an Alexander technique class. Set an alarm so you get up and walk around the office regularly and try to stay off your phone as much as possible.

2. STRETCHING AND EXERCISE

‘GET UP AND WALK AROUND THE OFFICE REGULARLY AND TRY TO STAY OFF YOUR PHONE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE’

Try to regularly stretch your muscles, particularly your hamstrings. Once any pain has eased, keep up regular exercise, cycle, swim, walk – whatever it is that you enjoy.

As an osteopath, one of the most common issues I see patients for is lower back pain. This can be really debilitating for some people, so I wanted to share some tips for how to avoid it.

ANDENOUGHPROVIDINGMATTRESSYOUWITHCOMFORTSUPPORT?

Go through your handbag to make sure you’re not carrying more than you need to at any given time. Switch to a backpack if you can as this more evenly distributes the weight. Avoid lifting where possible but if you have to, keep your back straight and bend your knees
