Where will the breeze take you
Deben Meadows is right on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with very little light pollution you have the perfect opportunity for stargazing! What a perfect way to end the day and best of all, you don’t even need to leave your home! With full length windows in every dwelling of Deben Meadows you’re sure to relax and take stock whilst catching the odd shooting star [or… catching the comets flying by].
Why not make memorable moments with loved ones, while you take an evening paddle out on the river, listening to the water as it hits the bow with the backdrop sound of the local wading birds calls as they fly home to roost, all the time experiencing the wonders of the vast Suffolk nights sky.
Living near the river is a perfect place to bring up your little ones. As well as having numerous water sport activities on offer, for the more creative there is also plenty of hobbies including a local Stagecoach.
For family interests The Longshed in Woodbridge is run by Woodbridge Riverside Trust, it puts on various nautical themed activities such films and exhibitions, but its main project is the building a replica of the Sutton Hoo ship. Very near The Longshed is the Riverside cinema, which shows all the latest releases.
A lovely day out for all the family and it’s only just under half an hour drive away is Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park. Started as a traditional farm that rears British rare breeds and is now home to a wildlife park, restaurant, gardens and an assortment of shops.
Not forgetting the importance of education, local schools in Melton and Woodbridge are a plenty with pre-schools and primary schools just minutes away. Farlingaye High School is just under two miles away and for those looking for higher education the University of Suffolk is in Ipswich just over 9 miles away.
Tee up on one of the many local Golf courses
The Suffolk coast is renowned for having some of the UK’s best fish and seafood producers, it’s really not surprising with its miles of beautiful coastline. This means whether you like to create your own seafood delicacies at home from the local market, or would rather eat out at a nearby restaurant, you are definitely spoilt for choice.
If it’s fine dining or even a casual evening you’re looking for, you are just a short stroll from The Crown in Woodbridge. Or if you’re looking to blow the cobwebs away experience fresh delectable fish and chips on the beach a short drive away in Aldeburgh.
Living in and around the sea you’re likely to hear of the fisherman’s tales and folklore. One such story originates very close to Deben Meadows, the story of how ghosts of AngloSaxon soldiers highlighted the burial mound of the ship that is now known as Sutton Hoo. Keep your eyes peeled you never know if they’ll show you the next treasure trove.
