EXPERIENCE NT CHINESE MUSEUM

Litchfield Territory Wildlife Park

BERRY SPRINGS, BATCHELOR EXPLORE SWIMMABLE WATERFALLS, GIGANTIC TERMITE MOUNDS AND OLD MINES The old tin-mining town of Batchelor remains the gateway to Litchfield, and the Wet season is when its waterfalls truly earn their reputation, running fuller and faster than any other time of year. Explore the old mine remnants and learn about local Indigenous art and traditions at the Coomalie Cultural Centre, then marvel at termite mounds towering up to two metres high on the way into the park. A quick note for Wet season visitors: rangers closely manage swimming at Florence Falls, Buley Rockhole and Wangi Falls, and may close them at short notice after heavy rain or during crocodile monitoring, so always check current signage before jumping in — the falls themselves are spectacular to view regardless. For a glimpse into the past, the abandoned Blyth Homestead is well worth the detour. Purchase your

SOUTH ALLIGATOR AREA

Just 7km east of the South Alligator River bridge is the popular Mamukala wetlands. Often teeming with birdlife, it is easily accessed by a 3km walk which includes an observation platform and bird hide. A mural depicts the changes which take place during the year. From Kakadu Resort the 3.6km Gungarre walk passes through monsoon forest and woodlands along the edge of Nggardabal billabong.

Check out the videos and displays at the Bowali Visitor Centre, 5km west of Jabiru, for a comprehensive overview of the region. The Marrawuddi Gallery has Aboriginal arts
