In the UK, the Automotive industry employs more than half a million people, in all kinds of vehiclerelated jobs. This sector expects growth of +10.1% in our catchment area (up to 2025). This demand will be primarily working with HGV and Electric / Hybrid Engine vehicles, alongside regular Light Vehicles. Mechanic and Technician roles are in huge demand, with increasing salary scales as a result.

Darlington College offers dedicated industry standard workshops with state-of-the-art equipment including an Axone Nemo 2 from Texa diagnostics and can diagnose trucks, cars, bikes and marine vehicles. The great thing about this piece of equipment is that it is not brand specific… meaning it will diagnose almost any vehicle available.

Our Digital IT courses can develop learners from the very basics, at entry level, to competent IT users, at Level 2. Learners can then progress onto specialist IT, Computing, Business, Arts, Marketing, and other courses at Level 3. Learners can also progress in Life and Employment with improved confidence and skills. All courses we offer are produced in conjunction with the UK’s Essential Digital Skills framework.

They also pay 29% more, on average, than those that don’t require these skills (£37,000 vs £28,000 a year). Despite this, employers struggled to fill one-third of vacancies last year due to lack of digital competency. Digital skills are no longer limited to tech and online roles but are nearly universal requirements across all sectors and skill levels today.
