Let your pre-Christmas celebrations begin at Richmond Fashion Festival
The High street fashion industry was not just touched by the coronavirus pandemic. It was crushed!
Overall fashion sales are up but mostly in favour of online purchases, now 30% of the market. This does not bode well for the stores and fantastic boutiques in Richmond hence the need for this festival. It’s organised by Eddie Ottmann at EKO Marketing which helps charities raise funds, this time through an auction in aid of the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust. Visit
richmondfashionfestival.co.uk/ auction after 1 October.
The festival will take place on Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 December

To hold it against a backdrop of COVID-19 threat and its restrictions is not ideal but after the cancellation of all other major events in town because of the pandemic, there’s great anticipation for the festival and Darling is delighted to be its official media partner. Sophie Ottmann, the festival’s PR & Marketing Manager, reports an overwhelmingly positive response from retailers and is expecting 15 to 20 businesses to do their own thing in-store as well as hold fashion shows on strategically placed stages around the Town.

Navigating the menopause
Your menopause should NOT be a midlife crisis
Anew one-to-one service aimed at women aged between 40 and 60, who are either coming up to peri-menopause, or are already going through the menopause.
The majority of my clients fall into the 40 to 60 year age range. It’s their feedback and concerns about the effects of the menopause that has been the catalyst behind me offering this service. I’ve seen hundreds of women for oneto-one consultations relating to some or many of the symptoms of the menopause. I’m here to make sure that you look colourful, stylish, appropriate and current and, most importantly, that you feel comfortable.
Who’s it for?
It’s for women who feel they’ve undergone or are going through a huge change in the way they look and feel, and who need support, advice and encouragement to help them look and feel incredible. Going through the menopause can affect one’s self-esteem and confidence, especially at work. My job is to help rebuild that through showing you how to dress your changing body shape.
What’s involved?
The four hour consultation at your home costs £500 and covers ways in which personal styling can help you to weather some of the symptoms of the menopause. We’ll look at the following: 1. Practical advice on choosing the right fabrics; what to wear and how to wear it to keep cool 2. This season’s trends, specifically targeting you 3. How to dress your changing body shape 4. Where to source comfortable yet stylish clothes 5. Advice on skincare and makeup to wear near your face to best complement your complexion 6. Advice on which colours suit you best, according to your hair, eyes and skin tone 7. How to adapt to a change in lifestyle 8. Accessories: I’ll bring along lots of examples to show you how you can jazz up your outfits with shoes, scarves and jewellery
Shopping
My extensive knowledge of the high street, online independent brands and Instagram means that if you need to replace or add items in order to create the perfect capsule wardrobe, I’ll know exactly where to source them. n
