About the performance

Directed by visionary choreographer Oulouy, KONG is a beastly work that denounces imperialism and colonialism, performed by the Ivorian street dance icon Ordinateur, with the direct participation from Namibia of the multidisciplinary artist xamques. A manifesto where image and sound come together powerfully to deliver a performance rich in satire and symbolism, featuring a choreographic display that pushes the limits of a single movement’s potential.

About the artist

Born on the Ivory Coast and based in Spain, Oulouy combines his role as choreographer, dancer and artistic director with teaching masterclasses worldwide. His first work ’Black’ (2020) is a reflection on violence and the emancipation of black bodies in contemporary societies. Accompanied on stage by his international crew of Supa Rich Kids, ’Afrikan Party’ (2022) is a futuristic ode to Africa. And his most recent work is ’Kong’ (2024).

His stage works have been presented internationally in venues such as Perelman Performing Arts Center in New York, Bluma Appel in Toronto, Fabrik Potsdam in Germany, Dansens Hus Oslo, Blaagard Teater at Detour Dance Festival, Mercat de les Flors, Teatro Principal de Palma, Journées Théâtrales de Carthage, Suzanne Dellal Centre, Dampfzentrale, among others. ’Black’ was selected for the Danza a Escena 2024 catalogue to tour within Spain –Oulouy actually one of the first choreographers to present their work within this network. ’Afrikan Party’ received the Best Choreography award of the Catalan Performing Arts Critics Awards (2023), and this work has also been included in the choreographic archive of the New York Public Library. Oulouy is also the founder and curator of the festival Oyofe dedicated to street dances. Oulouy has been selected as an Aerowaves25 artist this year with his piece ‘Black’.

About the performance

‘Black’ is a reflection on the violence and emancipation of blackness in today’s world, through a body that challenges and disturbs, a body that is both wounded and celebrated. Using a set devoid of artifice and brimming with symbolism, choreographer and performer Oulouy hints at recent history such as the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the murder of George Floyd to rethink the Black African body in the Western world.

About the performance

With STUCK , Mounia Nassangar signs her first choreographic piece. Through the prism of the sensitive, she reveals the culture of whacking in a different way and explores the capacity of dance to take over from a failing speech.

With their bodies and stories, the 5 performers on stage each embody, through their flesh and gestures, the living memory of a dance of urgency and expression born of oppression.

About the artist

A key figure in whacking in France and internationally, Mounia Nassangar is a choreographer, dancer, actress, model, DJ, event producer and director of her own dance company. Dancing since the age of 5, she went through popping , locking , new style , house dance , dancehall and street jazz before specializing in waacking .

In 2018, Mounia was revealed to the general public thanks to Jean-Paul Gaultier’s touching Fashion Freak Show at the Folies Bergère and the film Climax by Gaspar Noé, awarded at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. In 2019, she created Oui, et vous? a Whacking  play with the Ma Dame Paris collective (created by Sonia Bel Hadj Brahim, Josepha Madoki and Mounia Nassangar). At the same time, she joined the Blacksheep company.

About the performance

Joanna Holewa Chrona’s first solo work, “Phakathi Inside,” is a solo odyssey, a return to the inner body and the force dwelling within. It explores the physical and spiritual dimensions, strengthening the manifestation of an inner avatar—an embodiment of a powerful spirit in physical form. Through a unique approach to self and movement, Joanna Holewa Chrona investigates the purpose of dance as a vessel to navigate life’speaks and valleys. What unfolds when one discovers that the magic resides within ourselves, and that the true superpower lies in the art of transmutation? As Joanna’s avatar embarks on her journey, the room metamorphoses, enveloped in light and sound that accentuate her essence and presence.

About the artist.

Joanna Holewa Chrona is a Swedish dancer, choreographer, project manager, and DJ, active in Sweden, South Africa, and now touring internationally. Her practice draws both technically and in terms of inspiration from African-American dance styles such as popping, hip hop, and house, as well as folk dances including isiPantsula, Sabar, and Afro-Cuban traditions from South Africa, Senegal, and Cuba. In recent years, she has devoted much of her time to developing her own “Slowmotion practice.”

Holewa Chrona also works in the duo LAND BEFORE TIME together with Yared Tilahun Cederlund. Their first piece, [...it is contained in...], was presented at MDT in Stockholm spring 2022 and later developed into a new work entitled Waterkind, which in 2025 was selected by the European network Aerowaves as part of its Twenty25 artists.
