Dansehallerne proudly presents RIPE BODY, created by Ruth Rebekka Hansen with live music by Lauge Heebøll. The performance is co-produced and presented in collaboration with Roskilde Festival, Aaben Dans, Bora Bora, and Teater Momentum.
With RIPE BODY, choreographer and performer Ruth Rebekka Hansen delivers a cross-genre solo dance performance in two parts:
RIPE BODY:INSTALLATION and RIPE BODY:RIP IT.
At the center of the performance is a nearly fourmeter-high transparent box with a mirrored ceiling and floor. Within the box and through the body, Ruth Rebekka Hansen seeks to apply a kaleidoscopic filter to gender, deconstructing and redefining the feminine.
In the first part, the body is presented as a living sculpture of flesh, transitioning through recognizable shapes, awkward gestures, and a gaze that mimics connection. Surrounding the mirrored pedestal, the audience is invited to observe and question the shaping of femininity and their own reactions to the body’s transformation.
The second part shifts into an explosive and mesmerizing performance. Ruth Rebekka Hansen is joined on stage by composer and musician Lauge Heebøll, whose pulsating live music sets the tone for a high-energy finale. Amid heavy beats and glittering costumes, the audience is invited to a vibrant celebration of femininity—overflowing with “more” of everything. The result is fluid, seductive, and festive.
RIPE BODY invites the audience into a feminine universe that is both sparkling and carnal and is dedicated to anyone who feels a connection to a feminine universe, in any form or degree.
The Danish choreographer and performer Ruth Rebekka Hansen premiered her first full-length performance RIPE BODY at Roskilde Festival in July 2024. Her work as both a creative artist and dancer, moves in the intersections between dance, theatre, visual art, and live performance. After graduating from the Ballet Academy Stockholm in 2018, she has worked nationally and internationally with artists such as Falk Richter, Gunilla Lind, Lara Vejrup Ostan, Jernej Bizják, Thomas Eisenhardt, and DeLeón Company.
With a voice that embraces both melancholic darkness and inviting light, the composer and musician Lauge Heebøll sets the tone for RIPE BODY. His live sets, which blend pulsating EDM and floating soundscapes, invite the listener into the alternative reality that RIPE BODY explores. After releasing three singles, Lauge Heebøll is really finding his musical voice and his debut album will be released in late 2024.
