About the work
A revealing dance. An opening show.
Slit Show cuts through the masquerade of the exterior and slides along the slits to the interior. It’s a dance for a theater and an open mouth. A tease for the space between curtains and coming. An inner song longing to be shown.
Through removal of clothing, erratic moaning and deep opera, choreographer and composer Karis Zidore strips down and exposes inner states in the theater spotlight. Somewhere between erotics and entries, maskings and unmasking, sensing and exhibiting, a sincere show reveals itself from the curtains.
About the Choreographer
Karis Zidore (she/her) is a choreographer and composer based in Copenhagen. Through body, voice and sound her choreographic practice moves between loaded images and heartfelt sensations. In her works she often departs from gendered voice and body materials in attempt to tease, disrupt and reshape. She is a co-founding member of Danseatelier, and the artistic director and curator of thecarrierbag festival together with Emilia Gasiorek. Karis has collaborated with a.o. choreographers Emilie Gregersen, Olivia Rivière and Naya Moll. She has presented works at Dansehallerne, Copenhagen Contemporary, Den Frie Udstilling and Momentum. With the alias Gel she has released abrupt and inconsistent dance music through labels such as Kulør, Petrola80 and Escho.

About Dansehallerne
Dansehallerne is a national center for dance and choreography. Our focus lies in presenting and co-producing Danish and international productions for all ages. We are a gathering point for passionate dance audiences and professionals. From our center, we communicate professional knowledge of the art of dance, and we drive discussions about all aspects of the art of dance, at an intermediate level and in-depth.
Being a national center, as well as a gathering point for the local and international communities, we continuously work to ensure the best possible settings for artistic production and for the audience’s encounter with the art of dance. Every year, people from all around the country can experience the best that dance has to offer. And for several hundred artists, Dansehallerne is the year-round base and interface for professional activities within the field of dance.
