The Danner Mountain Trail is based on one of our vintage silhouettes from the ‘60s. It features a domestically tanned leather and is leather lined. The Vibram® Gumlite outsole is lightweight and cushioning and offers a solid tread for city-to-mountain escapes.

The USA-made Mountain Light hiking boot is legendary for its unmatched quality, durability and support. GORE-TEX lining provides waterproof protection. Danner’s famous stitchdown construction provides a wider platform for stability and the lace-to-toe system provides a secure fit. The women’s Mountain Light Cascade was featured in the Fox Searchlight Pictures release WILD in 2014.

As far as this boot is concerned, it’s still the golden era of backpacking. To build it, Danner bootmakers sought out leathers similar to those used on the original Danner Light. This classicinspired boot features stitchdown construction and a Vibram® Kletterlift outsole. The Danner Light is still built by hand in our Portland factory with rich full-grain leather, denier nylon panels and waterproof GORE-TEX liners.

Oregon’s lush but rough terrain was the perfect backdrop to inspire a high-performance boot, designed to keep feet dry and comfortable in the most extreme of environments. An innovator since its inception, in 1979, Danner became the first company to use GORE-TEX to build a 100% waterproof, breathable boot.
VIBRAM ®
For more than 50 years, Danner has featured premium Vibram® outsoles on our boots to provide the best traction available for hiking and everyday use. Tried and true designs such as the Kletterlift outsole are featured throughout the line. New technologies such as Vibram® Megagrip and Arctic Grip are now available in some Portland Select styles, providing extra grip in wet and icy conditions.
FIT
Portland Select styles offer a roomier fit for relaxed comfort while still offering rugged support and stability. Our EE sizing is not as wide as others, so it offers the most universal fit for casual, everyday wear. We recommend sizing down a half size for the best fit.
RECRAFTING
You can go a long way in a pair of Danner boots. And since many of our boots can be recrafted by replacing the outsole, reworking the leather and restitching the seams, you can go even farther.
