COTTAGE WALKS/VILLAGE CENTER: The main boardwalks near the ferry terminal provide the quickest access for day-trippers to the most popular, lifeguard-patrolled sections.
OCEAN BREEZE WALK: Offers direct, easy access to calmer, family-friendly sections of the beach.
BEST BIKE ROUTES
OCEAN BEACH/SEAVIEW LOOP: Pedal the residential paths for a casual ride. Focus on paths connecting to quieter communities like Seaview (east) or Corneille Estates (west).
OCEAN BEACH TO POINT O’ WOODS: Take the eastern route toward Point O’ Woods for a scenic, quieter ride, though some areas may be strictly residential.
TIPS FOR BIKE RIDERS
BIKE TYPE: A cruiser or fat-tire bike is essential for managing sandy paths and boardwalks.
REGULATIONS: Be aware of local, seasonal, and daily regulations; riding is prohibited on many pedestrian-only boardwalks in the peak of summer.
SHARED PATHS: Always yield to pedestrians and share the narrow, winding paths with caution.

My OB seasonal life started in the mid ’90s, being part of shared summer rentals. Back then, you rented the home from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Now, it’s predominantly week to week.
What I enjoy most about OB, besides the beach, is a bike ride to take in the different styles of homes and read the catchy house names. There aren’t many places in this country without cars, street lights, or even a stop sign.
Yes, OB has some rules that visitors may complain about. That’s to protect a way of living like no other. This Ocean Beach community is special. Those who stay year-round are closer than family. They take care of and look out for one another. Ask and you shall receive, it’s just what happens naturally.
