Daniel ThomasPRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Wow! What a great convention and fundraiser we had in April.

Brenda and I had a blast meeting and seeing everyone. I want to really thank everyone that attended the convention and those that worked so hard to put it together. The Board has voted to keep the crawfish boil Friday night, but we are happy to announce we are going to have it at the Cajun Dome where we have the auction every year. We were able to get the Cajun Dome staff to extend our hours to 10 p.m. Instead of closing at 5 p.m. and heading to the Acadian Village we are able to stay there. This will allow everyone to keep their booths open and eliminate the wasted travel time. The Cajun Dome chef will boil the crawfish and prepare the sides.

I think the most important thing all deer farmers and preserve owners can do is mark their calendars for August 24, 2019. This sale has been designed to put the deer farmers and the preserve owners under the same roof. The success of our August 24, 2019 auction is imperative. All of us go through a thought process every year on where we are going to sell our deer and obviously all preserve owners are wondering, where are we going to find enough stocker bucks and doe to upgrade our genetics. Also, many deer farmers are looking to upgrade their doe herd and breeder bucks. Everyone please mark your calendar to be at Donny and Lisa Soderberg’s farm August 24, 2019. Myra has been sending out weekly email blast of directions to Toro Whitetails, plus the nearest hotels. We would like for everyone to arrive around 10 a.m. Donny and Lisa are providing barbeque with all the fixings around 11 a.m. The auction is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. Please contact Myra or me if you have any questions. The address to Toro Whitetails is 1000 Park Road, Florien, Louisiana 71429. Donny’s phone number is (318) 315-0157. It is important that everyone talk to every hunter they know and advise them to stay and hunt in Louisiana. It just kills me to hear of all the thousands of hunters that drive or fly out of Louisiana to hunt every year. What a waste!
I pray that God blesses and takes care of all of you. Thank you, Daniel Thomas
