YEARS

OUR 60TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON BRINGS EVEN MORE OF THE WORLD’S BEST DANCE!
THE EVOLUTION OF BECOMING THE REGION’S GATEWAY TO WORLD DANCE™

Known rst as the Dance Concert Society from 1966 until the early 1980’s was a time when many iconic dance companies were just beginning. Sixty dance concerts were presented in the rst 15 seasons that included Alvin Ailey, Merce Cunningham, The Joffrey Ballet, Jose Limon, Paul Taylor, among many other stars in the dance world.

The evolution of the organization brought a new name, Dance St. Louis – with the same clear focus to grow the appreciation of dance by presenting the world of dance to the St. Louis region. Legendary artists like Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev ocked to our city.
Dance St. Louis continues to transform our region into a dance mecca and destination by way of presenting seasons and the creation of SPRING TO DANCE® in 2008, as the region’s leading cultural ambassador for world-class dance. The festival is now famous in the dance world and is a cultural gem for our city.
Today, the newly designed Dance St. Louis Gateway to World Dance™ logo embodies and celebrates our leading role in the region as presenter, producer and educator of world-renowned dance from across the globe. The iconic Gateway Arch at the center symbolizes the entryway into our city and region while the lines that travel through represent the 30,000+ dancers and artists and 500+ world-class dance companies presented during the last 60 seasons while also launching Dance St. Louis into the future.
