Summer might be winding down, but things are only just getting started here. From babes in slings to over 50s, find your groove in the Move section of this brochure, with classes and workshops spanning contemporary, hip hop dance and ballet.

Kicking off this season is DEEPFAKE, the debut show from Jess & Morgs, whose choreography has graced stages including English National Ballet and Paris Opera Ballet. Now, they’re bringing a show of their own for the first time, as a DanceEast Jerwood Commission. We’re welcoming back Jasmin Vardimon Company, Shechter II and Ekleido, alongside a rare chance to see Olivier Award-winning artist Botis Seva with Far From The Norm. New this autumn, Studio Scratch invites you to watch dance works in development, share your thoughts and meet the stars of tomorrow. Our free, multi-arts festival, YouthFest, returns in October, and to round off the year, something a bit different: Starchitects Save Santa! by Motionhouse. This high-energy dance-circus-panto, complete with cheeky characters you can meet after the show, makes perfect festive fun for all the family. Whatever sort of movement you’re seeking, we’ve got something for you.

Set in a green-screen TV studio, DEEPFAKE follows a high-stakes interview between a modern-day politician and a political journalist, embroiled in scandal. As the interview unravels, an ensemble of performers clad in green morph suits become a metaphor for the half-truths and lies that are being spoken, playfully and absurdly revealing the manipulation in plain sight. Using dance, film, text and innovative digital technology, this new work from this award-winning choreographic duo speaks to the global uncertainties of today and the crumbling notion of truth.
