DanceArts Presents our 2026 Annual Academy Performance
‘Stage to Screen’ This year, we invite you to experience the magic of Stage to Screen—a spectacular celebration of iconic musicals and movies through the decades. Join us on a journey through time as our dancers bring beloved stories, unforgettable characters, and timeless soundtracks to life, showcasing the excitement, emotion, and wonder of the stage and the silver screen!
Taking of Photographs and Videos We are so grateful to have our performance being captured professionally by videographer, Aiden Nielen and photographer Amy Hazebroek. Therefore, the taking of Photographs and Video on any personal recording device, including phones, is both unnecessary and prohibited during our performance. Each student will receive access to their photos and the performance video in due course. Please also ensure all mobile phones are switched to silent. We thank you in advance for your respect
Post-Performance Pickup Procedure To ensure the safe collection of our dancers at the end of their performance, we ask that one parent per dancer stay in the auditorium at the end of the show. We would appreciate other audience members making their way to the foyer, courtyard or carpark. Once students have collected their items backstage, they will be escorted to the auditorium (to the door at the left of the stage). Parents are asked to collect their child from the stage and exit up the side aisles and out to the carpark.
A Message from the Principal of DanceArts 2026 has been another year filled with growth, new opportunities and so many memorable moments for our students and the DanceArts community. One of my greatest joys is watching our dancers grow, not only in their technique and artistry, but in their confidence, resilience and kindness towards one another. We began the year with our Ballet Assessment students completing their Ballet Conservatoire examinations, now in their third year of this challenging syllabus. I am incredibly proud of every student who committed themselves to the process, and a special congratulations must go to Yolanda Williams (Level 1), Neil Tang (Level 3), Reese Williams (Level 6) and Scarlett Anderson (Level 6), who each achieved the remarkable result of Distinction, a perfect score, in this year’s examinations. Our Prima Ensemble and Vega Troupe also represented DanceArts beautifully at CanDance for a Cure. Congratulations to Abbey McGahey, who was selected for the 2026 CanDance Opening Ensemble and Core Group—an achievement that reflects her dedication and commitment to her craft. Beyond the stage, we have continued to strengthen the community that makes DanceArts so special. Wear Blue Week raised funds and awareness for Beyond Blue, while our Dance Hearts Program, performance groups and private coaching have continued to create new opportunities for our students. It has also been wonderful to welcome new dancers and families, and even more special to see the warmth with which they have been embraced. As we prepared for tonight, our Level 3 and above students auditioned for the Opening Ensemble, and our trivia night brought our community together as the excitement of performance season began. Tonight’s performance has challenged our dancers to explore the characters, stories and worlds that have captivated audiences on stage and screen.. To our dancers, you have poured so much of yourselves into this performance. Every rehearsal, correction and moment of encouragement has helped create what you will share tonight. I am incredibly proud of your commitment, your courage and the way you continue to lift each other up. Tonight, we celebrate the stories that have moved us from Stage to Screen, but most importantly, we celebrate our dancers and everything they have achieved along the way.
