Noi, uomini, abbiamo sempre desiderato volare; uno dei modi migliori per placare questa sete è volare su una mongolfiera. Dalla prima esperienza con i Fratelli Mongolfier nel 18° secolo, le persone hanno praticato questa esperienza in tutto il mondo sorvolando tutti i tipi di paesaggi. Con le sue numerose valli, i suoi noti rilievi rocciosi chiamati “camini delle fate”, di differenti misure e forme, vigneti e frutteti, la Cappadocia offre un contesto perfetto per questa esperienza.

We, people, have always wanted to fly; one of the best ways to ‘quench this thirst’ is to fly in a hot-air balloons. Since the first experience with the Montgolfier Brothers in the 18th C, people have had this experience all around the world over all kinds of landscapes. With its numerous valleys, fairy chimneys of different sizes and shapes, vineyards and orchards, Cappadocia offers a perfect setting to have this experience.

Ballooning started by a swedish pilot named Lars, in Cappadocia in 1992. He came here as a pilot and loved the place and opened a company and run the business many years.

Since 1998 there was only one company and 2 balloon in the area with a capacity of 12 people in total.

Giunto in questa regione come pilota si innamorò del posto e fondò una compagnia rimanendone a capo per diversi anni. Fino al 1998 in tutta la zona era presente una sola attività e due mongolfiere, con una capacità totale di 12 persone.

prepararsi al volo GET READY TO FLY

Nel 1998 Halis aydogan fonda una seconda compagnia con 2 mongolfiere e una capacità di 8 persone. Ad oggi esistono in Cappadocia 21 compagnie e 176 mongolfiere, per una capacità totale di 1800 persone. lo scorso anno circa 300.000 persone hanno volato in mongolfiera sopra la Cappadocia e in alta stagione ogni mattina è possibile vedere in aria più di 100 mongolfiere.

I voli vengono generalmente programmati al mattino presto oppure di sera. La mongolfiera ha necessità di venti stabili e le prime ore dell’alba e quelle poco prima del tramonto sono le migliori per avere questi venti. Dato che le mongolfiere si muovono con il vento è molto importante conoscere bene il meteo prima di decidere se decollare o meno.

L’equipaggio incontra un’ora prima i passeggeri che vengono trasferiti ai vari ristoranti con lussuosi minibus. Mentre i piloti scelgono il luogo per il lancio, sulla base della direzione del vento, i passeggeri fanno colazione con un ampio buffet all’aperto, interamente fornito dai ristoranti delle varie compagnie.

In 1998 Halis aydogan started the second company with 2 balloons and 8 people capacity. At the moment we have 21 companies and 176 hot air balloons in Cappadocia. Total capacity of the region for hot air ballooning is around 1800 people. Last year in 2012 around 300.000 people flew with hot air balloon ove Cappadocia. in the high season we can see more then 100 balloons every morning over Cappadocia.

Flight are scheduled in the early morning or in the evening.

Balloons need stable winds to operate effectively and the hours just following sunrise or two hours before sunset are the best for finding these winds. Since balloons move with the air, the weather is very important in deciding to fly or not to fly.

The companies meet one hour prior to sunrise by transfer of the passengers to their restaurants with luxury minibuses. While the pilots are choosing the launch site according to the wind directions, passengers will have an open buffet – fully catered breakfast in balloon company restaurants.

Scelto il luogo del decollo e una volta che la mongolfiera si è stabilizzata i passeggeri vengono chiamati e fatti salire e l’avventura inizia.

La sensazione che si prova è molto delicata e l’effetto rasserenante che ne deriva sembra mettere il mondo sottostante in un’altra prospettiva. le composizioni rocciose e i celebri “camini delle fate” trasportano la vista, generando una rara sensazione di essere al di sopra di tutto.

Il pilota può ruotare la mongolfiera servendosi della rotazione del vento permettendo di avere una visione a 360° del panorama sottostante. il volo dura circa un’ora, in base alle condizioni del vento e all’adeguatezza dei luoghi di atterraggio, ma l’intera esperienza dura all’incirca 4 ore.

The sensation of ballooning is very gentle and its calming effect seems to put the world below into perspective. rock formations and world-famous fairychimneys drift into view, giving you an unmatched feeling of being above it all.

The pilot can turn the balloon using the rotation vents and provide you with a full panoramic view as you glide through the skies. The flight lasts about an hour, depending on prevailing weather conditions and suitability of landing sites, but you should allow at least four hours for the whole experience.

Ci si sposta tanto lontano fin dove il vento porta. Le mongolfiere dipendono completamente dal vento. Ci sono giorni in cui si vola per un’ora e un quarto percorrendo poco più di un km e giorni in cui si vola per 45 minuti percorrendo anche 30 km. Se il volo viene cancellato a causa delle condizioni meteorologiche la compagnia non addebita alcuna spesa ai passeggeri.

Al termine del volo, quando i piedi toccano nuovamente terra, l’equipaggio raggiunge i passeggeri aiutandoli a scendere e festeggiando il viaggio con un tradizionale brindisi di champagne e un certificato di volo di ricordo da incorniciare.

Sulla mongolfiera fa abbastanza caldo. In genere al mattino appena si sale l’aria si riscalda di qualche grado. Si consiglia un abbigliamento comodo, come per una passeggiata fuori porta. Per volare in mongolfiera si devono avere almeno 6 anni ed è necessario che i passeggeri più giovani (sotto i 16 anni) siano accompagnati da una persona responsabile che abbia almeno 18 anni. Can an exhibition be rock?

Certamente si, e noi l’abbiamo vista lo scorso aprile in concomitanza del Salone del Mobile di Milano proprio nel cuore del primo MotoQuartiere d’Europa: in uno spazio underground, ecco a voi “Marble Rocks”, il marmo che “spacca”, il marmo che con un nuovo linguaggio artistico si presenta in forme inedite e originali, ridefinendo se stesso e la sua percezione nell’arte contemporanea.

Of course it can, and we saw it happen last April, during the Salone del Mobile in Milan, in the very middle of the first MotoQuartiere of Europe: in an underground space, here it is “Marble Rocks”, when the marble rocks; the marble which, using a new artistic language, presents itself in new and original shapes, redefining itself and its perception into contemporary art.

There was need of the creativity of Gualtiero Vanelli, GVM boss, who, collaborating with the Paris art gallery White Moon, curated and prepared a “gutsy” and original exhibition, which combined design, architecture and contemporary art.

C’è stato bisogno dell’estro creativo di Gualtiero Vanelli, il patron di GVM che in collaborazione con la galleria d’arte parigina White Moon, ha curato ed allestito una grintosissima ed originale mostra che ha saputo combinare insieme design, architettura ed arte contemporanea.

Lavorando con tecnologie digitali innovative, questi artisti sono stati in grado di piegare il marmo alla propria creativitĂ ed al proprio estro artistico dando alla luce dei pezzi unici e davvero originali, tutti realizzati in edizioni limitatissime. Dai teschi e ai posacenere di Philippe Pasqua ai vasi di Raynaud e Botta per poi rimanere senza parole davanti alla moto in marmo realizzata da Mattehw Spender ed arrivata direttamente dal Museo Piaggio.

Tanti artisti e tanti pezzi unici tutti uniti da Vanelli che da collezionista, animatore culturale, fondatore e presidente di GVM La Civiltà del Marmo é da anni impegnato in una vera e propria “rivoluzione del marmo” volta a ridefinire e reinventare l’uso del marmo bianco, portandolo negli anni a sperimentare ed a collaborare coi i più famosi talenti del mondo dell’architettura, della scultura, del design e dell’arte contemporanea.

Sono nati in questo modo pezzi d’arte unici e prototipi destinati a finire sui libri d’arte e di design: dal “Pianoforte di Marmo” realizzato per David Bryan, tastierista di BonJovi, al “Cinderella Table” presentato all’Art Basel e subito acquistato da Bradd Pitt, alla “MercuryHouseOne” il primo prototipo di casa spaziale interamente rivestito in marmo, fino alla “Sala da tè” realizzata per l’imperatore del Giappone.

Anche per tutto questo, la mostra “Marble Rocks” si è subito rivelata un appuntamento imperdibile per i principali collezionisti stranieri e nostrani che si sono rapidamente contesi i pezzi in mostra, e poi grande presenza di vips e celebrities...perché proprio non si poteva mancare all’evento più rock del Fuori Salone di Milano e soprattutto perché ormai Gualtiero Vanelli é sinonimo di meraviglia e stupore per chi da anni lo segue nelle sue attività imprenditoriali artistiche.

So many artists and so many unique pieces, all together thanks to Vanelli, who, as a collector, cultural entertainer, founder and president of GVM – La Civiltà del Marmo, has been busy for years pursuing a true and authentic “marble revolution”. This is thought to redefine and reinvent the use of the white marble, experimenting and collaborating with the most famous talents of architecture, sculpture, design and contemporary art.

Thus were born unique pieces of art and prototypes, bound to be in art and design manuals: from the “Marble piano” crafted for David Bryan, BonJovi’s keyboardist, to “Cinderella Table” presented at the Art Basel and bought at once by Brad Pitt, and the “MercuryHouseOne”, the first prototype of space house entirely covered with marble, and the “TeaRoom” created for the Emperor of Japan. Summer is a true “festival” in all Lunigiana: hills and mountains shake winter’s cold and grey off and turn green and sunny. villages are again full of life, with festivals, traditions, dances and, above all, traditional and unmistakable flavours and fragrances. So Lunigiana is filled up with events of any sort, which we will go through as in a brief travel journal, which could be yours.

La bella stagione è un vero “festival” per tutta la Lunigiana: le colline e i monti si liberano dal freddo e dal grigiore dell’inverno per colorarsi di verde e di sole. E i borghi tornano a vivere fra feste, tradizioni, balli e soprattutto sapori e profumi tradizionali e inconfondibili. la lunigiana insomma si riempie di eventi di ogni tipo, che adesso andremo ad attraversare come in un breve diario di viaggio, che potrebbe essere il vostro.

We start with the first appointments in June: on 9th June in Regnano it is celebrated “Il Maggio”, an old popular tradition brought back to life by the Compagnia del Guiterno, with songs, poems and allegories that walk around in the older part of the village and welcome the arrival of the fine weather. Also, every Saturday afternoon the “Ambrosi” Museum in Casola hosts the event “Casola in Cultura”.

Partiamo proprio con le prime date di giugno: a regnano il 9 giugno si festeggia “il maggio” un’antica tradizione popolare con canti, poesie e allegorie che si aggirano nel borgo del paese e salutano l’arrivo della bella stagione con la compagnia del guiterno. tutti i sabato pomeriggio invece al museo “ambrosi” di casola l’evento “casola in cultura”.

A luglio e agosto l’atmosfera si scalda in tutta la Lunigiana: ancora a regnano il 13 e 14 giugno la sagra del pane, mentre il 28 è il momento della grande festa medievale “anno domini” a Regnano Castello. Ad agosto c’è solo l’imbarazzo della scelta: il “mercato medioevale a filetto” dall’11 al 15 agosto, nel borgo murato del comune di villafranca.

Il pubblico può seguire le tecniche di lavorazione artigianale sulle vie, piazze e vicoli in cui si aprono le “botteghe” dedicate alle esposizioni dell’artigianato locale; può riposarsi nelle “taverne”, divertirsi con spettacoli di piazza, giochi, animazioni, coreografie, rievocazioni storiche. E non possono mancare i figuranti in costume. La festa inizia alle ore 19 e prosegue fino alle 24.

in July and August the climate becomes hotter in all Lunigiana: again in Regnano, on 13th and 14th July, Bread feast, while on 28th it is time for the great medieval festival “Anno Domini” in regnano Castello. in August you are spoilt for choice: the “Mercato Medievale a Filetto” from 11th to 15th August, in the walled village, in the commune of Villafranca.

People can follow the hand-crafting techniques in streets, squares and alleys, where the “botteghe (old shops)” are open and dedicated to expositions of local handicraft; or they can rest in “taverns”, or entertain themselves with square shows, games, entertainments, choreographies and historical reenactments. And there is no festival without people in costumes. The festival is from 7 pm to 12 pm.

Agosto in Lunigiana significa un connubio unico fra letteratura ed enogastronomia: da non perdere dal 16 al 18 agosto il bancarelvino a mulazzo: tavole rotonde, degustazioni, convegni tematici dedicati al vino, alla gastronomia, al turismo, con concerti, testimonial famosi, musica e teatro.

Oggi il Premio è entrato a far parte, di diritto, fra gli eventi più importanti della nostra terra. due le sezioni del premio che ricalca la forma del Bancarella: una dedicata al vino ed una dedicata al libro di argomento.

La rassegna è stata ideata con l’Unione librai pontremolesi e l’accademia della vigna bianca e della vigna rossa.

August in Lunigiana means the union of literature and enogastronomy: it should not be missed, from 16th to 18th August, the BancarelVino in Mulazzo: workshops, tasting, lectures on wine, gastronomy and tourism, and concerts, celebrities, music and theatre. nowadays the Award has become, by rights, one of the most important events of our territory.

The Award has two categories, following the Bancarella’s model: one dedicated to wine and one dedicated to books on the same subject. The festival has been conceived by the Unione Librai Pontremolesi and the Accademia della Vigna Bianca e della Vigna Rossa.

A Montereggio la secolare tradizione dei librai ambulanti ha lasciato dietro di sé un’eredità forte tanto che Montereggio è davvero il “paese dei librai”, con un monumento a questa professione situato vicino alla Chiesa di Sant’apollinaire.

Il paese di Zeri ospita “musicazeri”, dal 2 al 4 agosto, festival di musica classica giunto alla quarta edizione: venerdì 2 agosto alle ore 21 il primo concerto alla Chiesa di Adelano (duo violino e viola); sabato 3 agosto alle ore 17 alla Chiesa di Coloretta lezione/concerto del pianista Sandro Ivo Bartoli; alle ore 21 concerto solenne a celebrazione del bicentenario della nascita del comune di Zeri (con il Controquintetto del maggio musicale di Firenze); domenica sera alle 21 alla Chiesa di Coloretta terzo concerto conclusivo.

Chiudiamo la nostra rassegna ricordando solo alcuni dei principali punti di riferimento della Lunigiana da non perdere: la fortezza della brunella di aulla, il castello malaspina di Fosdinovo, il castello di castiglione del terziere di Bagnone, il castello di terrarossa a licciana Nardi, il castello di malgrate a villafranca e quello della verrucola a Fivizzano, la pieve di sorano a Filattiera e il magico borgo di tresana. La necessità di indagare nuovi universi; la volontà di modificarne la morfologia e la percezione che si ha di essi nel tentativo di coglierne i significati più profondi.

Queste sembrano essere le prerogative della ricerca di philippe delenseigne, artista cosmopolita nato nel 1971 a Calais, ma che vive e lavora tra pietrasanta e berlino.

Quest’ultimo dato “geografico”, per quanto possa esser ritenuto superfluo, è in verità di fondamentale importanza per capire l’evoluzione della sua ricerca: l’artista infatti ha saputo cogliere l’essenza di queste due realtà, riuscendo nel difficile tentativo di farle confluire in una poetica fresca ed immediata. dalla città toscana ha appreso la lezione sulla plasticità della materia, delle sue infinite possibilità espressive, nonché delle relazioni tra vuoti e pieni, tra zone di luce e di ombra che caratterizzano il suo lavoro.

The need for exploring new universes; the will to modify their morphology and perception of them, in the attempt of capturing their deepest meanings. These seem the prerogatives of phillppe delenseigne’s study; he is a cosmopolitan artist, born in 1971 in Calais, but who lives and works between pietrasanta and berlin.

This last “geographic” fact, however it may appear unnecessary, is actually of fundamental importance to understand the evolution of his study: indeed the artist has caught the essence of the two realities, succeeding in the hard effort of blending them in a fresh and direct poetics.

From the city of Tuscany he learned the lesson on plasticity of material, its limitless expressive possibilities, as well as the relationship between void and fullness, between highlights and lowlights, which characterise his work.

Ciò è riscontrabile nel lavoro di ricerca sui video e sulle installazioni che Delenseigne porta avanti in parallelo alla produzione di opere bidimensionali, anche se l’utilizzo di questo termine risulta non del tutto esatto.

Difatti l’artista spesso modifica la struttura delle tele andando a creare delle estroflessioni o tentando di “scavare” quest’ultima nell’incessante sforzo di dar forma ai chiaro-scuri.

From the capital of Germany he learned its innovative and creative spirit, but at the same time authentic and never ordinary. That can be observed in his study on videos and installations which Delenseigne carries on simultaneously with the production of bi-dimensional works, although the use of this term it is not entirely correct.

In fact, he often modifies the structure of the canvas, creating swellings or trying to “dig” the canvas, making a constant effort to give shape to chiaroscuros.

The objective fact that catches the eye is given by biomorphic compositions which appear on the surface and distinguish the work of Delenseigne. The artist names them drops, because the creative process requires dripping drops of glues and plastic, which interfere with the perception of neutral background.

Il dato oggettivo che salta subito all’occhio sono le composizioni biomorfe che spuntano sulla superficie e che rendono riconoscibile il lavoro di Delenseigne.

L’artista le definisce drops (lacrime), proprio perché il processo creativo comporta il dripping di gocce di colle e plastiche che vanno ad interferire con la percezione degli sfondi neutri.

So there is a double interpretation: on one hand the dripping of extra-organic materials, and on the other hand the shadows created by the effect of the light on it.

La lettura dell’opera così diventa doppia: da un lato la gocciolatura di materie extra organiche e dall’altra le ombre create dall’impatto della luce su di essa.

“lacriMe” di colla “TEARS” OF GLUE L’alternanza dei due stati (l’uno fisico e l’altro ottico) regala allo spettatore un senso di armonia e profondità che difficilmente ci si potrebbe attendere dall’utilizzo di materiali così lontani da un immaginario collettivo di bellezza.

The alternation of two states (physical and optical) gives the spectator a sense of harmony and depth which are unlikely to be expected with the use of materials so distant from the common idea of beauty.

I lavori di Delenseigne affrontano tematiche vicine alla sfera più alta dell’umanità. L’andamento di quelle che lui chiama lacrime, così come le ipnotiche danze microcellulari dei suoi video, risentono necessariamente di una notevole forza espressiva generata dal continuo dimenarsi interiore dei sentimenti dell’artista.

Delenseigne’s works deal with themes related to the higher mankind sphere. The tendency of the so called drops, as the hypnotic micro-cellular dances in his videos, is inevitably affected by a great expressive power, produced by the continuous wiggling of the artist’s feelings.

Cos’è la vita se non un incessante turbinio di emozioni altalenanti? Evidentemente Delenseigne conosce bene questa lezione, ed è per questo che la genesi dell’opera è spunto sì di una sensazione personale, ma non vuol certo che rimanga segretamente custodita.

What is life if not an incessant turmoil of waving feelings?

Delenseigne, evidently, knows the lesson well, and that is why the origin of his work is a starting point for a personal feeling; but he does not want to keep it secretly guarded.

Il parco oceanografico fa parte della Città delle Arti e delle Scienze che sorge su quello che fino agli anni 60 era il letto del fiume Turia. L’acquario è composto da oltre dieci edifici diversi dedicati ognuno ad un diverso ecosistema.

L’intero complesso è stato realizzato riutilizzando un visionario progetto dello scomparso architetto madrileno felix candela e dalla sua apertura nel 2003 è già stato visitato da oltre 13 milioni di persone.

Complessivamente il parco si estende per oltre 110 mila metri quadrati e comprende più di 42 milioni di metri cubi di acqua salata per rappresentare tutti gli oceani del pianeta e uno dei più grandi delfinari mai realizzati.

The oceanographic park is part of the City of Arts and Sciences, which is built on what was, till the ‘60s, the bed of Turia river.

The aquarium is formed by more than ten different buildings, each of them is dedicated to a different ecosystem.

The whole complex was built re-using a visionary project by the perished Madrid architect felix candela, and since its opening in 2003 over 13 millions of people have visited it. As a whole the park covers a surface of more than 110 thousand square metres, and it contains over 42 million cubic metres of salt water, which is used for representing all the oceans of the planet and one of the biggest dolphinarium ever made.

Ognuno di questi ecosistemi tanto diversi l’uno dall’altro è riprodotto fedelmente e ospita centinaia di specie di animali e di piante. Difficile stabilire quale tra queste vere e proprie meraviglie sia la più impressionante.

Il padiglione dedicato agli oceani, per esempio, ha un acquario da oltre 7 milioni di litri d’acqua che permette al visitatore l’esperienza unica di passare dalle Isole Canarie alle Bermuda attraverso un grande tunnel sottomarino attorno al quale nuotano squali toro e grandi squali bianchi.

Each one of these ecosystems, so different one from another, is faithfully reproduced and hosts animal and plant species. it is difficult to say which one is the most impressing among those true wonders.

The pavillion dedicated to oceans, for example, has a 7 million litres fish tank, which allows the visitors the unique experience of moving from Canary islands to Bermuda’s through a great underwater tunnel around which bull sharks and great white sharks swim.

Durante il tour tra le vasche del parco oceanografico non ci si imbatte però solo in pericolosi predatori, ma in una vera e propria moltitudine di altri pesci, uccelli e tante altre specie animali in grado di affascinare un pubblico di tutte le età .

During the tour among the tanks of the oceanographic park there is not just the chance of encountering big predators, but also a true and authentic multitude of fishes, birds and many other animal species capable to fascinate a public of all ages.

Nel padiglione dedicato alle paludi e alle zone umide si possono ammirare i meravigliosi piumaggi, tra gli altri, degli ibis scarlatti e delle spatole rosate. ai tropici non passano invece di certo inosservate le tartarughe giganti di aldabra, le piĂš grandi al mondo dopo quelle delle Galapagos, mentre bisogna spostarsi nella zona artica per ammirare da vicino i giganteschi trichechi che si riposano placidi al sole.

Una visita al parco oceonografico di valencia non si può però concludere senza un passaggio al delfinario, il più grande d’europa con oltre 26 milioni di litri d’acqua e tribune in grado di ospitare 2mila persone.

La vasca delle esibizioni è grande l’equivalente di due piscine olimpioniche, è profonda ben 11 metri e crea le migliori condizioni possibili per studiare e osservare i delfini.

A breve distanza, inoltre, trovano posto altre quattro vasche che vengono usate per l’addestramento, la riproduzione e per prestare cure mediche ai cetacei.

Complessivamente sono più di 30 i delfini del parco che si esibiscono quotidianamente. Tutti gli animali del parco, come veri e propri atleti professionisti, seguono un rigido programma di allenamenti. Assistere alle loro esibizioni è un’esperienza fuori dal comune. guidati dai loro istruttori i delfini saltano, si immergono e, addirittura, sembrano parlare con il pubblico.

E’ stata senza dubbio questa la frase che più ha colpito gli opinionisti di tutto il mondo nel primo discorso del vescovo argentino Jorge Mario Bergoglio, eletto Papa con il nome di Francesco.

With no doubts that is the sentence which impressed the most the pundits from all over the world in the first speech of the Argentinian bishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio, elected Pope with the name Francis.

L’America Latina, da cui Papa Francesco proviene, è un sub continente in profonda evoluzione, che però continua ad essere forse troppo distante - “dall’altra parte del mondo” appunto - rispetto al dibattito geopolitico in Italia ed in Europa. ad avvicinarlo alla nostra riflessione proverà l’ottava edizione del festival convivere, chiamando a carrara dal 6 all’ 8 settembre, intellettuali, politici, giornalisti e uomini di cultura per riflettere sul tema.

Latin America, from which Pope Francis comes, is an entirely evolving sub-continent, but which continues to be too distant - “from the other part of earth” indeed – from the geopolitical debate in italy and Europe. To try and get it closer to our discussion there will be the 8th edition of con-vivere festival, which will gather in carrara, from the 6th to 8th september, intellectuals, politicians, journalists and men of learning to reflect on the subject.

A sottolineare il motivo della scelta è il direttore scientifico, prof. remo bodei, nella sua presentazione del festival: “spesso trascurata dai grandi circuiti di attenzione mediatica e considerata geopoliticamente meno rilevante per la forte influenza degli Stati Uniti, l’America Latina negli ultimi anni è andata acquisendo una maggiore centralità nello scacchiere globale, anche per il trend di crescita economica, come testimoniato dalla presenza di tre paesi dell’area nel g20, e per il consolidamento dei processi democratici”.

santiago morilla realizza a carrara un progetto artistico incentrato sull’ascesa e la caduta ciclica dei benefici economici dell’oligarchia finanziaria, per la Ii edizione di database, calendario di eventi ideati e organizzati dall’Associazione ars gratia artis.

santiago morilla has developed an artistic project in carrara based on the cyclical rise and fall of the economic benefits of financial oligarchy. The project has been conceived ad hoc for the 2nd edition of database, a calendar events designed and organized by the ars gratia artis association.

La mostra propone nuove soluzioni iconografiche per i templi dei nuovi centri del potere, attraverso la rivisitazione di frontoni e bassorilievi in marmo ispirati al modello classico, popolati da personaggi acefali, senza volto, privi della propria identità. video e fotografie sono il risultato della performance tenutasi a colonnata, dove le immagini, proiettate sulle bancate delle cave di marmo di Carrara, rappresentano figure colte nel momento che precede la caduta, inevitabile conseguenza delle logiche del sistema finanziario contemporaneo.

The show provides new iconographic solutions to the temples of the new centres of power, reinterpreting marble pediments and bas-reliefs inspired by classical models, and populating them with acephalous, faceless characters, deprived of their identity. videos and photographs are a result of the performance held in April in colonnata where the images projected against the Carrara marble quarry walls represent figures caught in the moment before their fall - the inevitable consequence of the logic of our contemporary financial system.

un week-end tra storia e svago A WEEKEND BETWEEN HISTORY AND LEISURE Michele Finelli

Tradizionalmente percepita come una città di passaggio, cui viene preferita la sosta nella località balneare di Marina di Massa, oggi Massa ed il suo centro storico rappresentano la meta ideale per un week end tra storia e svago.

Traditionally Massa is seen as a crossing city, to which is preferred staying in Marina di Massa, nearby the seaside; nowadays Massa and its town centre represent the ideal destination for a weekend between history and leisure.

All’inizio del XX secolo l’autore inglese Edward Hutton descrisse così il suo arrivo in città: “Ed ecco l’Italia, bella come una dea, delicata come una donna, abbandonata tra le montagne […] Qualcosa della semplicità e della gioia di vivere che conosciamo solo nel nostro cuore si trova in ogni piega delle montagne, ricoperte d’olivi e terrazze di vitigni e sentieri, dove l’agricoltore lavora fino a sera e il mais è o maturo o raccolto, e il suono del flauto danza come una fontana nell’ombra.”.

A cento anni di distanza Massa mantiene il fascino “remoto” evocato da Hutton. Il recente rifacimento di Piazza Aranci e Piazza Mercurio, cuore del centro storico, ha restituito ai cittadini uno spazio urbano in precedenza destinato a parcheggi.

At the beginning of XX century, the English author Edward Hutton described his arrival in town with this words: “Here is Italy herself, fair as a goddess, delicate as a woman, forlorn upon the mountains […] Something of the simplicity and joy of a life we have only known in our hearts is expressed in every fold of the mountains, olive clad and terraced with walks and vines, where the husbandman labours till evening and the corn is ripe or reaping, and the sound of the flute dances like a fountain in the shade”.

A hundred years later Massa maintains its “remote” charm evoked by Hutton. The recent renovation of Piazza Aranci and Piazza Mercurio, heart of the town centre, has given back to the citizens an urban space once used for parking.

Piazza Aranci è dominata dall’imponenza del Palazzo Ducale, la residenza barocca dei Malaspina; all’interno dello splendido cortile durante l’estate sono ospitati concerti ed eventi culturali. Piazza Mercurio è invece la più vecchia Piazza di Massa, in cui era ospitato il mercato. Da qui si può salire verso il Castello Malaspina che offre una vista spettacolare.

Piazza Aranci is overlooked by the imposing Palazzo Ducale, the baroque residence of the Malaspina family; inside its wonderful courtyard during the summer there are concerts and cultural events. Piazza Mercurio is the oldest square of Massa, once there the market was held. From here it is possible to go upwards to Malaspina Castle, which offers a spectacular panorama.

Per celebrare i 25 anni Ornellaia ha creato una serigrafia ad hoc ‘25th anniversary’ che sarà il logo in rilievo nel vetro di tutte le bottiglie dell’annata 2010.

Inoltre, ornellaia ha incaricato michelangelo pistoletto, artista italiano fra i più importanti e influenti sulla scena mondiale, di intervenire su una serie limitata e numerata di grandi formati sul tema della ‘celebrazione’: 100 bottiglie doppio Magnum, 10 bottiglie Imperiali e un unico esemplare di Salmanazar, alcune delle quali verranno battute a un’asta benefica sotto l’egida di Sotheby’s a Londra.

Pistoletto ha lavorato seguendo uno dei temi fondanti della sua opera e della sua riflessione artistica: lo specchio. tanto la spirale che avvolge il doppio magnum e la salmanazar, che il gioco di forme che muove e modifica le bottiglie imperiali, sono realizzati in uno speciale materiale specchiante che riconduce al lavoro dell’artista.

La spirale genera un senso di infinito e di aspirazione verso l’alto, mentre le etichette, ciascuna composta da 10 frammenti di materiale specchiante meno uno, rendono ciascuna bottiglia un pezzo unico.

Per l’artista lo specchio riflette nelle sue infinite realtà mutevoli tanto lo spettatore che l’ambiente circostante, includendo così nell’opera la dimensione del tempo, quello rappresentato e quello realmente presente.

Michelangelo Pistoletto’s creation encapsulates the fundamental theme of his art: the mirror. The spiral that entwines itself around the double magnum bottle; the sculpted, three-dimensional spiral on the one-of-akind salmanazar; and the varying forms of the imperial bottle labels are all made of a special reflective material that is intimately connected with the motifs that the artist has been developing since the early 1960s.

The spiral creates a sense of infinity. Labels are unique and represent a different composition of a 10-piece puzzle, each one with a different missing element.

For the artist, the mirror, with its infinite forms, reflects both the spectator and the surrounding environment, introducing into the artwork a temporal dimension.

L’ Enoteca non ha bisogno di presentazioni, la sua fama come la sua reputazione attraversano, da anni, tutti i continenti, con una Cantina, creata negli anni 70 che è “immensa, leggendaria, inimitabile” come la definiva Gino Veronelli.

Andrea Cerutti is one of the Chefs of the cooking brigade of Enoteca Pinchiorri, owned by Annie Féolde e Giorgio Pinchiorri. The wine house does not need to be introduced, its fame, as its reputation, has spread across every continent for years, with a Cantina, created in the ‘70s, which is “immense, legendary, inimitable”, borrowing the words of Gino Veronelli.

Andrea, 26 anni, nato a Cuggiono in provincia di Milano, con una passione per la cucina che è nata dai tempi del liceo, ha frequentato la scuola di Gualtiero Marchesi e da soli due anni è arrivato in Toscana, la sua regione preferita e lavora in una delle cucine piu’ ambite dai giovani chef.

Andrea, 26 years old, was born in Cuggiano, province of Milan. With a passion for cooking which dates back to his teenage, he attended Gualtiero Marchesi school and it has been 2 years he is in Tuscany, his favourite region. He works in one of the kitchens young chefs aspire the most.

Nonostante la sua giovane età le sue idee sono molto chiare, dice: “quello che mi piace di piu’ del mio lavoro è immaginare un piatto, averlo prima nella mente e poi riprodurlo nel gusto” e poi “ mi piace poter giocare con gli ingredienti come con un filo sottile, senza mai perdere la direzione, trovare sempre l’equilibrio tra tradizione e innovazione”.

Despite his young age, his ideas are very clear, he says, “what I like the most in my job is imagining a course, at first in my mind, then reproducing it in taste” and more “I like to play with ingredients as with a thin thread, without getting lost, always finding the balance between tradition and innovation.”

Risotto with asparagus and lavender flowers

Tempo di realizzazione: 45 min.

Ingredienti per 4 persone:

Preparation time: 45 Min. Ingredients for 4 people:

300 gr. riso Carnaroli 2 mazzi di asparagi verdi ( 600 gr. ) 1 limone 30 gr. di fiori secchi di lavanda per infusione 2 scalogni un sorso di vino bianco 40 gr. di parmigiano grattugiato 100 gr. burro 1 cucchiaio di olio di semi 1 cucchiaio di olio extra vergine d’oliva sale e pepe q.b.

300 gr. Carnaroli rice 600 gr. green asparagus 1 lemon 30 gr. dry lavender flowers ( for infusion ) 2 shallots 1 glass white wine 40 gr. grated parmesan 100 gr. butter 1 spoon full extra virgin olive oil 1 spoon full seeds oil salt and pepper.

Per il brodo: - Lavare e pelare accuratamente gli asparagi; coprire le bucce di acqua fredda, in un tegame, e mettere da parte gli asparagi.

- Grattugiare la pelle di 1 limone e aggiungerne 2/3 alle bucce nel tegame, insieme a 5 chicchi di pepe e il succo di 1/2 limone.

- Portare a leggera ebollizione schiumando regolarmente le impurità che verranno a galla e dopo 1 ora, filtrare il brodo e tenere al caldo

For the broth: -Wash and peel the asparagus; keep the skin in a pan and cover with cold water. Put the peeled asparagus on a side.

- Grate the skin of a lemon and add 2/3 of zest in the pan, with 5 pepper grains and the juice of 1/2 lemon.

- Boil slowly, skim the surface quite often and filter the broth after 1 hour of cooking. Keep warm.

Per la crema di asparagi : - Tagliare le teste di asparagi a 2 cm di lunghezza e mettere da parte.

- Sbiancare i gambi rimasti in acqua bollente salata per 3 minuti e raffreddarli in acqua ghiacciata.

- Rosolare lo scalogno tritato in pentola con una noce di burro, aggiungere i gambi e continuare la cottura per 2 minuti.

- Aggiungere un sorso di succo di limone e girare ancora prima di frullare il tutto accuratamente.

- Controllare il livello di sale e pepe e aggiungere un sorso di olio d’oliva extravergine.

For the asparagus cream: - Cut the asparagus tips at 2 cm. length and keep on a side.

- Blanch the stalks in boiling water for 3 minutes and cool them down in icy water.

-Sautée 1 chopped shallot with a little butter, add the asparagus stalks and go on cooking for 2 minutes.

- Add a small amount of lemon juice and stir again, before putting everything into the mixer.

- Once very smooth adjust the asparagus cream with salt and pepper, and an extra virgin olive oil shot.

i Per le punte di asparagi: - Sbollentarle in acqua bollente ben salata per 2 minuti; raffreddare in acqua ghiacciata; tagliare a metà per lungo e mettere da parte su carta assorbente.

For the asparagus tips: - Blanch them in salty boiling water for 2 minutes; put them into icy water, then cut them in half by long and keep them on absorbent paper.

Per l’olio alla lavanda: - Versare in una pentola 25 gr. di olio di semi e 25 gr. di olio d’olive extravergine; - Aggiungere i 20 gr. di fiore di lavanda e portare il tutto a una temperatura di 60 gradi.

- Ritirare dal fuoco e coprire con una pellicola trasparente per 1 ora circa.

For the oil flavoured with lavender: - Mix in a saucepan 25 gr. of seeds oil with 25 gr. of extra virgin olive oil.

- Add the lavender flowers and warm up until you reach 60 degree temperature.

- Take away from the heat and leave to infuse for 1 hour at least, and well covered.

Per il risotto: - Rosolare l’altro scalogno tritato in casseruola con 2 noci di burro, tostare in essa il riso, sfumare con vino bianco, bagnare con del brodo di asparagi caldo e fare ridurre, sempre girando il riso.

- Appena comincia a mancare la parte umida, aggiungere la crema di asparagi e/o il brodo, e ritirare dal fuoco dopo 14-15 minuti di questa cottura.

- Mantecare fuori dal fuoco con 50 gr. di burro, il parmigiano, il terzo rimasto di buccia di limone grattugiata e un sorso d’olio d’oliva extra vergine.

- Ancora qualche giro con le punte di asparagi per scaldarle e amalgamarle delicatamente al risotto ( obbligatoriamente “ all’onda “ ) - Controllare velocemente il livello di sale e pepe e servire, con una bella spruzzata di olio alla lavanda in superficie e qualche pezzo di lavanda infusa.

Decorare con fiori eduli, petali viola e gialli, a piacere e servire subito.

For the risotto: - Brown the rice with the other chopped shallot and a spoon full of butter; toast it, add the white wine and after a few minutes add some hot asparagus broth, stir in and reduce.

- Add the hot asparagus cream slowly and take away from the heat after 14-15 minutes of this mixing and cooking.

- At that point, add 50 gr. butter, the parmesan, the remaining lemon zest, still moving with a wood spoon, and in the end some extra virgin olive oil.

- Finish the preparation with the asparagus tips, stir again and make sure that the risotto is creamy and mild. Check about the salt and pepper.

- Pour onto the plates and decorate it with drops of olive oil flavoured with lavender, plus some edible flowers and serve very warm.
