ASH MEDAL FINALS: HUNTER PHASE Phase 1 – Hunter: The Hunter Phase will be held first, the day prior to Phase 2 and 3. The order of go will be determined by a random draw. The score will be announced. The top ten finishers will return to the ring, mounted, for awards at the conclusion of the Hunter Phase.

To be shown over a minimum of 8 jumps. It is recommended that the course be a straight forward hunter course consisting of natural jumps. The course must include a combination, with a spread fence , hunter lines, and a long approach to a single jump. A numerical score will be given.

142. ASH Low Children’s/Adult Amateur Medal Final: Hunter Phase (2’6”)

MONDAY

ASH MEDAL FINALS FLAT/JUMPER PHASE Flat - The purpose of (Flat) is to prepare the horse for Jumping. Judges may require additional tests, besides those specified in division specifications. To be judged on rider’s position and seat as well as the correctness and effect of the aids. No Martingales will be allowed in Phase 2. No audible score will be given for Phase 2 3 - Jumper Phase: The order of go for the Jumper Phase will be in reverse order of the Hunter Phase with the winner of the Hunter Phase competing last. An audible tone will be used to start competitors. A Time Allowed will be used based on a speed of 360 yards per minute. The judge will give a numerical score for each competitors round. The announcer will announce the judge’s numerical score and then deduct time faults as follows: one point for each commenced second over the Time Allowed. Two refusals will be cause for elimination in the Jumper Phase.

At the end of all three phases, at Judge’s discretion, they may require additional testing from USEF Tests 1-19. All three phases weighted equally.

USHJA Zone 12 Horsemanship Equitation Championship The USHJA Zone 12 Committee created the Zone 12 Horsemanship Equitation Championship 3’0” to encourage and promote equitation and horsemanship with Zone 12 members. Open to USHJA Zone 12 juniors and amateurs USEF/USHJA members who have competed in an over fences class at the same show. This class will consist of the following phases: over fences, flat, practicum, and written test.

I. ELIGIBILITY A. An eligible rider must be a Zone 12 junior or amateur USHJA and USEF member in good standing. Horses or ponies must have entered and competed in an open equitation class over fences in this division at the same show. (2’9” Equitation, 3’0” Equitation or ASH Medal)

II. COMPETITION FORMAT A. The Zone 12 Horsemanship Equitation Championship will consist of the following phases: over fences, flat, practicum, and written test.

1. Over Fences Phase: To be shown over a course of eight or more obstacles at 3’0” (spreads not to exceed 3’3”) which must include two combinations one with an oxer and two changes of direction (change of lead) after the first obstacle. The course should be a jumper style course.

2. Flat Phase: riders will show as a group at the working walk, sitting trot, trot rising, and the canter.

3. Two or more tests of the top four competitors are required. Tests 1-18 (EQ111).

4. All riders will be required to complete the written test to be eligible for an award. Riders who fail to complete the written exam portions will not be eligible for the program. Riders must submit their Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Level One score for this portion.

5. Practicum: Riders will sign up and take a practical exam on the day of the Championship. The practical exam will cover topics in the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Study guide. https://ushja.org/programs/youth/documents/HQC_StudyGuide_10.23.17.pdf

III. AWARDS A. All phases will be 25% of the final score. All horses and riders will return to the ring for the awards ceremony. The winner of the class will receive a perpetual trophy. Ribbons will be awarded to eighth place.

The USHJA Zone 12 Hunter Seat Medal Equitation Championship and the related format and specifications are the sole properties of the USHJA and may only be held, conducted or used upon the terms and conditions specified by the USHJA. USHJA reserves the right to change language in documents related to the conduct of the USHJA Zone 12 Horsemanship Medal as necessary for the purposes of consistency and clarity. Any deviations from the class specifications for the USHJA Zone 12 Horsemanship Medal are not permitted without the express written permission from USHJA prior to the printing of the prize list.

710. USHJA Zone 12 Horsemanship Equitation Championship

2021 AHJA Costume Charity Challenge Riders will form teams: one will compete in an over fences Gamblers Choice, and the other in a Judge’s Command Flat class.

The teams will raise money for Children’s Lunchbox, and then ride with that money under their legs (in the form of vouchers).

The champion team will receive a prize.

For 2021 we will add a Costume Portion to this class. So teams, dress up for a chance for a special prize!

All tickets must be used in the Gamblers Choice and then the tickets left under their legs will continue on to the Ride A Buck (additional tickets may be purchased between rounds). If no tickets after Gamblers Choice, the team is eliminated and will not participate in Ride A Buck.

For more incentive, riders will be able to retrieve their lost tickets IN EACH PHASE. At the conclusion of each phase (Gamblers Choice and Judge’s Command), teams will be able to retrieve lost tickets depending on their placings. For each rider (team) they may retrieve the number of lost tickets for each team they placed above. For example, your team placed 2 nd out of 5 in the Gambler’s Choice. That team may retrieve 3 lost tickets before moving to Judge’s Command. Your team placed 1st in the Judge’s Command out of 5. Before overall Champion is awarded, that team may retrieve 4 lost tickets. If there is a tie, then the riders will work off until a ticket is lost.

All of the entry fees for the AHJA Charity Challenge are donated to Beacon Hill at the end of the show. And riders have up to one hour prior to the class to enter their team.

In order to participate in this class, riders are required to enter in teams of two: one rider to ride over fences and another to ride on the flat. A single rider may not participate in both phases.

Gamblers Choice: Run according to USEF JP 149, however full seat breeches are not allowed. Riders will have fences ranging from .65m to 1.10m worth 10 to 120 points each, no combinations and fences may be jumped both directions, but each jump may only be jumped twice. Riders must make up their own course and the fences are worth different points based on their height. No points are awarded for fences knocked down and those fences may not be jumped a second time. Riders have 45-90 seconds allowed to jump as many fences as they choose, in any direction or order, after crossing the starting/finishing line in any direction. Rider must return to the finish line when the bell rings, indicating the end of the 90 second time allowed. The Joker Fence, indicated by flags, may be jumped within 20 seconds of the starting time allowed. If jumped cleanly the Joker Fence is worth 200 points. If knocked down, the Joker Fence will deduct 200 points from the rider’s total at the end of the first phase.

Ribbons will be awarded for the Gambler’s Choice, 1st-8th.

For added challenge, competitors must ride with at least one ticket representing the total cash value of their entry fee tucked under each of their legs as in a Ride a Buck class. Unlimited tickets may be purchased for an advantage, as tickets may be carried anywhere under the rider’s leg without limitation: excepting glue, tape or other adhesives/fixtures (this includes saddle tite and other sticky sprays). Tickets must be carried under the leg and may not be carried under the rider’s seat. Tickets that are retained by the rider over fences may be passed on to the rider on the flat in order to increase the size of ticket bundles. Tickets that are dropped are collected and go directly to support Beacon Hill!

Judge’s Command: Riders will compete on the flat, following the judge’s commands. Full seat breeches are allowed. The flat phase will be directed at the discretion of the judge and may include USEF tests 1-19.

Ribbons will be awarded for the Judge’s Command, Ribbons 1st-8th.

Entry Fee: Minimum of $50. Tickets are purchased for $25 each, minimum two tickets per team, maximum unlimited. Each rider must have at least one ticket in order to participate in their phase, and additional tickets may be “purchased” between phases.

The overall Champion of the AHJA Charity Challenge is the team with the most remaining tickets at the end of the Judge’s Command class.

901. AHJA Hobby Horse Charity Challenge

HORSE SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesan performance RF222)and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

The Horse Show Committee reserves the right to cancel or postpone any class due to unforeseen weather conditions judged to be hazardous or detrimental to the safely and general welfare of the participants, mounts and/or facilities. The right is also reserved to combine or change the order of classes and to refuse to return any entry fee before of during the show without being liable for compensation. The Horse Show Committee reserves the right to itself to interpret all question and conditions in regard to or arising out of, or incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All question not covered in these Rules shall be decided by the Horse Show Management; its decision to be final.

Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith except where specifically overridden by the rules and specifications of the Alaska State Horsemen, Inc. This entry shall constitute an agreement and affirmation that the person entering this horse show as rider or owner hold harmless the competition officials, directors and other agents for any injury or loss resulted, directly or indirectly, from the negligent acts or omissions of said officials: will abide by the local rules of the competition.

USEF ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principles, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the “Federation”) and the local rules of the competition. I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as the final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horses taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competitions, sport, or the Federation.

Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocable waive and release any rights in

connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. The construction and application of Federation rules are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any action instituted against the Federation must b e filed in New York State. See GR908.4.

ASSOCIATION FEES AND INFO OWNER-RIDER-TRAINER must be members of USEF and USHJA or pay Show Pass fees.

USHJA Registry Fee All horses competing in Federation non-breed restricted licensed competitions with hunter, hunter breeding, jumper and hunter seat equitation classes must be properly identified and must obtain a Registration number from USHJA.

HORSE/PONY NOMINATION This $50 fee allows you to only pay for classes entered, even if entered and scratched, as long as done by 5:00 p.m. the day before. This is to allow riders to have more flexibility in the classes entered and not be financially penalized as long as done in an organized manner by 5:00 p.m. the day before.

When entries are sent in, the payment is for stall fees and a horse/pony nomination. Classes thought to enter are also listed.

Then upon check in and throughout the show, exhibitors may add/ scratch/change any classes listed on their entry form at no charge as long as it is done prior to 5:00pm the day before the class.

Example 1: entered Open Working Hunter. Realized that open was too high and wanted to ride in Low instead. Change upon check in for no charge.

Example 2: Want to add meter .95 Jumper on Thursday. If added prior to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, there is no charge, if added after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday will accrue a $5 fee.

Example 3: Want to scratch meter .95 Jumper on Thursday. If scratched prior to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, you will not be charged the entry fee for meter .95 Jumper, if scratch on Thursday, or Wednesday after 5:00 p.m. you will be charged the entry fee.

This allows riders and trainers to enter on a day by day basis. If add/scratches/ changes are done prior to 5:00 p.m. the day before there is no charge AND entry fees for scratched classes will be refunded. Exhibitors must clear their show bill by the end of the show, if not, the check lodged with the secretary will be filled out in the amount shown with no disputes allowed.

ENTRY PROCEDURE Please check for different entry dates.

For each horse/pony entered in the open horse show, send a $50 nomination fee and the stall fee (if a stall is needed) along with your completed entry blank.

1. The following fees for each horse must accompany the entry form: a) All stall and tack room fees b) Horse/Pony Nomination $50 c) If entering the Beginner/Novice Classes and/or Hunter Performance and/or Walk/Trot Equitation and/or and/or opportunity classes ONLY please send in stall fees and classes. No horse/pony nomination is necessary.

2. The entry form for each horse must include: a) Horse name and complete description b) All classes or divisions entered. c) All mandatory signatures, including legal guardian in the case of a minor exhibitor d) Copies of membership cards for USEF and USHJA for riders, owner and trainer e) A current (within 6 months) negative EIA, and documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine

Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. f) Microchip ID number.

3. Safe Sport Verification As of January 1, 2019 all USEF members 18 years and older, with a competing membership must complete Safe Sport Training in order to be eligible to participate in USEF activities, including competitions. Those who do not complete the training will be ineligible to participate in USEF activities, including competitions.

ADDS/SCRATCHES/CHANGES Adds/Scratches/Changes are made on an entry that has been received by the horse show office. The penalties will only apply if done after 5:00 p.m. the day preceding the class. Any add/scratch/change made on the app will be charged as follows, if done after 5:00 p.m. the preceding day.

1. Add a class in horse show office→penalty of $5 2. Gate add a class -> Penalty of $10 3. Change of horse in and equitation class/change of rider in a performance class→no charge 4. Scratching a class after 5:00 p.m. the day before will not receive entry fees back.

Any scratch made in the Horse Show office and accompanied by a licensed equine vet’s Certificate will be charged a penalty of $50.

Only entry fees will be refunded.

ACCIDENTS INVOLVING COMPETITORS Per GR1317, in the event of a fall/accident where the competitor is apparently unconscious or concussed, he/she is precluded from competing until evaluated by qualified medical personnel as defined in GR1211.5. If the competitor refuses to be evaluated, he/she is disqualified from the competition.

AMATEUR STATUS Adults showing in Adult Amateur/Amateur hunter or jumper classes must be Amateur Senior or Life Members of the USEF or Affiliate Members of the USEF. Non members of USEF must be in possession of USEF Amateur Certification

ARENA ETIQUETTE While the arenas are open for schooling on the flat and/or over fences, show management reserves the right to ask horses/riders/trainers to leave the arenas if their schooling is disrupting the horse show. Fences (heights, look and location) may not be changed during schooling. Horses and/or unauthorized persons are not permitted in arenas when a course is set or in the process of being set for an upcoming class. VIOLATIONS of any of the above will be considered cause for elimination from the show and/or a $100 fine.

CHAMPIONSHIPS ALL championships and reserves will be awarded according to USEF GR808, HU-7 and JP110. Ties in equitation will be broken by the most points earned over fences. Ties in Jumper will remain tied.

DIRECTIONS Off the New Seward Highway, take the Dimond Bouldvard/Abbott Rd. Turn south onto E Dimond Blvd. Continue onto Abbott Rd for 1.8 miles. Destination will be on the right.

DRUG FEES For every horse participating in any USEF recognized competition, a USEF Federation Fee $16.00 ($8.00 Drugs and Medication, $8.00 USEF) will be collected to provide research, inspection, and enforcement of rules regarding use of medications and drugs.

FOOD Due to Covid Protocols, no food service will be available.

FOOTING/ARENA Arena and schooling area is sand/pea gravel. Arena is 150 X 300 and the schooling area 150 X 75. Under no circumstances are horses to be turned out in arenas or round pen at any time.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS A current (within 6 months) negative EIA must be included with entries. Per GR845 Equine Vaccination Rule: At Federation licensed competitions horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management.

JUMPING ORDER Hunters and Equitation run with open cards. Jumpers and Medals are run with posted order.

LUNGING Lunging areas will be available on a limited basis. For safety, no lunging while riders are present. No lunging in the show arena.

MEASUREMENT CARDS All horses/ponies showing in the Junior Hunter Division must be in possession of an USEF measurement card or a copy of a valid measurement form, and same (in its original form) must be presented to the Horse Show Secretary. Numbers WILL NOT be issued before the above requirements have been complied with.

Measurements will take place 8:00 a.m. Day 1, please advise show secretary if you need your animal to be measured.

MINOR EXHIBITORS Parent(s) or guardian(s) of minor exhibitors shall hold the Horse Show Management and the Facility harmless for any injury to such minor. NO child’s entry will be accepted or number issued unless the entry is signed by a parent or LEGAL guardian

MISC. FEES A $100 Grounds Fee per show will be assessed to horses and ponies under the following circumstances: 1. Horses not entered in the horse show, but stabled, and 2. Horses entered in the horse show, but not stabling.

Except those entered in Opportunity Classes

MOTORIZED VEHICLES Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golfcarts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions.

Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent/legal guardian or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for

penalties against those responsible for the child committing the offense. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule .The unsafe use of personal electronic transport devices, as determined by the competition officials and management in their sole discretion, that do not require a driver’s license to operate, including but not limited to segways, hover boards, and single wheeled scooters is prohibited on competition grounds. Operating such devices in areas where people gather may be deemed “unsafe use” if there is a risk of harm to others. If the operator of the device is a minor, the parent/legal guardian or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating the device in violation of this rule is accountable and may be subject to penalties. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

NON NEGOTIABLE CHECKS Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $50. Upon notification of a returned check, accounts will be given three days to make full payment, including the penalty, which must be paid in certified funds, cashier’s check or money order.

OPPORTUNITY CLASSES Opportunity classes are for entry-level riders. All opportunity classes and divisions will have fence heights of 2’6” or below. Any rider that has shown in a Zone pointed division or a regular division, such as Children’s Hunter are not eligible. Horses entered only in these classes are still subject to and must comply with the Drug and Medication rules and are subject to drug testing.

Horses entered only in these classes are exempt from the Federation fee, including the Equine Drugs and Medication fee and are not required to have a Horse Identification (HID) or Recording Number but are to list the HID or Recording Number if the horse has been assigned this number. If entered in opportunity classes restricted to amateurs, riders/drivers/handlers are required to have an amateur status with USEF or pay the $30 non-member amateur card fee.

Riders/drivers/handlers entered only in these classes are exempt from the Federation membership requirements and are not required to pay a non-member fee but are required to list the Federation membership number if the participant is a member.

Except for ASH Opportunity Performance Classes: 111, 113, 110 all other Opportunity Classes are restricted to Juniors and Amateurs.

POST ENTRIES An entry that has not been received by the horse show office by the entry closing date will be considered a post entry. Entries received after the closing date will be charged a $75 convenience fee.

PRIZE MONEY Prize money will be divided 50%, 30%, 20% in all “B” rated classes and classics. The owner of any horse/pony exhibited in classes where prize money is awarded MUST provide a Social Security number before prize money will be paid. Prize money checks will be made out to the prize money recipient recorded on the entry blank and will be mailed or hand-delivered within 30 days after the show.

Prize money will only be awarded if there are three ribbons awarded in the class. USHJA CLASSICS WILL BE MAILED OUT SEPARATELY AND MAY NOT BE DEDUCTED FROM ENTRY FEES.

PROPER SHARPS DISPOSAL Sharps containers are available for the proper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments—please use them! Show Management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments.

PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR It is compulsory for all persons at Federation licensed hunter, jumper or hunter/jumper competitions when mounted anywhere on the competition grounds, to wear properly fastened protective headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured.

REFUNDS Full refunds of the entry fees may be refunded before the horse show. After the show starts, with a licensed equine vet’s certificate only, full refund will be given minus a $50 scratch fee and fees for classes already held prior to notification of the Horse Show Secretary, whether exhibited in or not. Scratches must be made in the Horse Show Office prior to the conclusion of the horse show.

Refunds will be mailed within 30 days of the close of the show.

Stabling and nomination fees will not be refunded after closing date of entries, no exceptions

SAFETY AND WELFARE The closest hospital is Providence Medical Center 3200 Providence Drive, 4.1 miles from the show grounds via Elmore Drive.

Providence Alaska Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center

SCHOOLING The show arena will be open for schooling in the morning according to the ring schedule. Fences may not be changed in any way during schooling, except in last schooling session.

SHOW OFFICE HOURS Show office will be open from 5-7 on Friday and 30 minutes before and after each show day.

Riders may not check out unless their stall has been checked by management. (bedding stripped out, swept, mats straight and area in front raked) IF riders wish to check out prior to their stall being stripped, they must leave a separate check for $50 with the show office that will be returned upon their stall approved by show management prior to 6:00 p.m. September 6 th.

All horses must vacate premises by 7:00 pm. On the 6th, unless prior arrangements have been made. All accounts must be settled up with the show office by this time.

SUBSTITUTIONS A new horse may be substituted for a scratched horse for $50

STABLING Stabling is provided Friday-Monday for $100. Stalls are a mixture of rubber matting and compacted dirt/D1. Stabling for Sunday night for those riding in Opportunity classes only is $25.

Horses must be kept in stalls, and under no circumstances are horses to be turned out in arenas or round pen at any time. Horse/pony must be hand held or ridden if they are out of their stall. One horse per stall and all horses must be in a stall or in hand. No paddocks may be erected in either the stabling or parking lot area. Horses are not to be left unattended tied to trailers, or lose in trailers.

Stall fees are due if a horse occupies a stall at any time during the day/night. For stabling a deposit of $50 must be received by the show office before numbers will be issued. This deposit will be returned if the following conditions are met: 1. Remove all manure, hay, bedding and trash. 2. Rake up and remove all spilled bedding from in front of stall area. 3. Rake gravel level inside the stall in preparation for the next occupant. To retrieve deposit, please find the show manager (may be busy at the end of the show) to get

HUNTER DIVISIONS SPECIFICATIONS FOR ALL HUNTER CLASSES Entry Fees All classes over fences are $20. Under saddle are $15. No division discount, and individual classes may be entered.

Hunter Over Fences To be shown over a minimum of eight fences the required height. To be judged on performance and soundness unless otherwise noted.

Classes to run with open cards. Sign up will be available at 8:00 a.m.

Hunter Under Saddle To be shown at a walk, trot and canter. Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required. May be asked to hand gallop at the discretion of the judge but no more than eight to gallop at one time. except Green Working Hunter, Long and Short Stirrup Hunter. Martingales not permitted.

In order to be eligible for the under saddle class, one must be entered in at least one class over fences. In order to retain points, one must complete a course over fences.

Champion and Reserve Champion To be awarded to two of the four horses scoring the most points over fences. In addition, only these will receive full points for ribbons won under saddle. Champion and Reserve Champion to receive ribbons, with the Champion receiving a sponsored award.

Courses Hunter courses will simulate fences found in the hunting field such as: brush, wall, in-and-out, oxer, post and rails, gate, coop, and panels. The area of the courtesy circle may be restricted by a mandatory line and will be indicated on the course diagram, as well as a corresponding barrier erected on course. Management reserves the right to adjust fence heights or spreads as competition warrants.

In Handy classes obstacles must simulate those found in trappy hunting country. The course must have at least two changes of direction and at least one combination. Horses may be required to trot over one obstacle toward the end of the course, may be asked to lead over one obstacle or open a gate while mounted.

Jogging Only divisions over 3’3” will be jogged as per the USEF Covid protocol. Horses will jog for soundness under saddle by trotting a circle on a loose rein at the end of each over fences performance.

EQUITATION DIVISIONS SPECIFICATIONS FOR ALL CLASSES

EQUITATION SECTIONS OVER FENCES Performance begins when the horse enters the ring or is given the signal to proceed after entering the ring. Except for refusals, jumping faults of the horse are not to be considered unless it is the result of the rider’s ability. The following constitute major faults and may be cause for elimination: 1) refusal 2)loss of stirrup 3)trotting while on course and when not part of a test and 4)loss of reins. Each contestant may circle once if desired before approaching the first jump. He or she may then proceed around the course keeping an even hunting pace. Any of all contestants may be called back to perform at the walk, trot and canter, or to execute any appropriate tests, held and judged in accordance with USEF EQ 113. EQ107.1.i.2: The following actions will result in elimination: Three cumulative refusals.

Equitation classes will be run with a random posted order.

All 3’0” Equitation age group sections will be combined.

Fences in Low Ch/AA Equitation and Stirrup Equitation and will simulate those found in the hunter arena, and poles must be the top element of a jump and gates are not tilted.

FLAT Contestants shall enter at the right and proceed at least once around the ring at each gait and on command, reverse and repeat. Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required. Entries shall then line up on command and any or all riders may be required to execute any appropriate test. To be held and judged in accordance with USEF Rule XXII, Article 2213. Test 1-19 from which the judge must choose for riders 3’0” and over. For riders 2’9” and under, long and short stirrup only tests 1-8 may be used. Except walk/trot, In order to be eligible for the under saddle class, one must be entered in at least one class over fences. In order to retain points, one must complete a course over fences.

MEDAL DIVISIONS

Qualifying classes for the ASH Medals may be held by any USEF Regular Member Competition recognized by ASH, and any USHJA Outreach Horse Show. Riders must be ASH members in good standing and recorded for the ASH Medals to enter and receive points in Qualifying Phases. Riders who place in the Qualifying phases earn points toward eligibility for the ASH Medal Finals Classes. The ASH Medal Finals Classes will be judged by an USEF “R”-rated Hunter Seat Equitation judge and held at the Alaska Hunter-Jumper Association Horse Show.

Points earned in qualifying phases held after that show will apply toward eligibility for next year.

Riders may not cross enter between any of the Medal Divisions.

This is a two phase qualifying event: Hunter and Jumper. During qualifying each phase will be conducted under their own specifications and pinned separately. Riders must earn 10 points in the Hunter phase and 10 points in the Jumper phase to be eligible for the finals. (Points will be awarded according to the Equitation point chart).

Qualifying Classes: (a) Tack tack per JP111. Only running martingales used in the conventional manner are permitted in the Jumper Phase, boots and conservative colored bandages are permitted in all qualifying phases. (b) Attire: Conservative-colored protective headgear in accordance with USEF rules is mandatory. Suitable hunter attire includes

conservative coat; shirt with tie, stock, or choker; breeches or jodhpurs; and boots. Spurs, and crops or bats, are optional. (c) Eligibility: Open to junior riders and adult amateurs on horses or ponies. (d) Class Requirements: The same mount/rider combination is required for both the Hunter and Jumper Phase. (but a rider may qualify on one mount and ride a different one in the Finals class).

Finals Class (a) Tack: Same as Qualifying Class. (b) Attire: Same as Qualifying Class. (c) Eligibility: Open to riders who have earned 10 points in Hunter Phases and 10 points in Jumper Phases. (d) Class Requirements: The same mount/rider combination is required for each section of the class (but a rider may qualify on one mount and ride a different one in the finals class. The judge, in consultation with the course designer, will design the courses for both the Jumper and Hunter Phases of the finals.

ENTRY FEE: $50 for finals.

ASH LOW CHILDREN'S/ADULT AMATEUR MEDAL ASH Low Children’s/Adult Amateur Medal-Hunter Phase Hunter Phase: To be shown over a minimum of 8 jumps 2’6”. It is recommended that the course be a straight forward hunter course consisting of natural jumps. The course must include a combination, with a spread fence , hunter lines, and a long approach to a single jump.

A numerical score will be given.

ASH Low Children’s/Adult Amateur Medal-Jumper Phase Jumper Phase: To be shown over a minimum of 10 jumps, .75m. A minimum of one double combination, with a spread fence in each.

There must be at least two changes of direction after the first fence. In addition, course should include: vertical-no ground lines; narrow jump-minimum width 8’. Liverpools and triple bars are not allowed.

An audible tone will be used to start competitors. A Time Allowed will be used based on a speed of 360 yards per minute. The judge will give a numerical score for each competitors round. The announcer will announce the judge’s numerical score and then deduct time faults as follows: one point for each commenced second over the Time Allowed.

Two refusals will be cause for elimination in the Jumper Phase ASH Low Children’s/Adult Amateur Medal Finals Class Phase 1 – Hunter: The Hunter Phase will be held first, the day prior to Phase 2 and 3. The order of go will be determined by a random draw.

The score will be announced. The top ten finishers will return to the ring, mounted, for awards at the conclusion of the Hunter Phase.

Riders will be asked to demonstrate the following as a group or individually: working walk, working trot sitting, working trot rising, working trot showing a lengthening of stride, working canter, working canter showing a lengthening of stride. Judges may require additional tests. To be judged on rider’s position and seat as well as the correctness and effect of the aids. No Martingales will be allowed in Phase 2. No audible score will be given for Phase 2 3 - Jumper Phase: The order of go for the Jumper Phase will be in reverse order of the Hunter Phase with the winner of the Hunter Phase competing last. QUICK GUIDE TO SHOW RULES ▪

All parking of trailers/cars is in parking lot. Cars and trailers may be driven in and out during non-show hours for loading and unloading only. Cars parked in the barn aisles and behind the barn will be towed.

Refrain from walking horses in area behind the arena during the horse show. It can spook horses in the arenas.

Lunging in Schooling area during morning hours. No lunging if rider present.

▪

No turning out horses in arenas or round pen at any time

▪

If out of the stall, horses must be in hand, or ridden if they are out of their stall. They may not be tied to stalls at any time, or left unattended if tied to trailer.

One horse per stall. All horses in a stall or in hand. No horses tied to trailer or left in parking lot.

No paper bedding or straw allowed

All arenas are only open according to the schooling schedule, they are closed and not to be used at other times. Other arenas are open for AHC members or those paying a day use fee. .

All horses must vacate premises by 7:00 pm on the 6th, unless prior arrangements have been made. All accounts must be settled up with the show office by this time.
