First Fold Experiment The main focus of this first project was to get aquainted with designing forms in three dimensions. Drawing the forms using shade and line weights sufficiently illustrated the different depth conditions. Repetition was key in order to sufficiently understand the concept of designing in three dimensions.

Water Works Water Works was an experiment to see how to circulate water between three main tanks and structural elements in an elegant and efficient way. The experiment also called for a connection between two other projects therefore creating a system that circulated water between nine tanks and structural elements.

Crossing Station/Bridge The Crossing Station is a place where vast numbers of people pass through to continue to their desired destination. It is designed to give people a quick and easy transition from one place to another. The concept here allowed the different materials used in the project to direct the people passing through the station. The assignment also called for a conceptual bridge that would connect two stations together. Both a destination and a place of travel was created.

Tenement Museum The many vertical elements used in this concept for the Tenement Museum took into account the hardships and struggles the immigrants faced when trying to start a new life in New York City. A central exterior courtyard space was also implemented to invite visitors to meditate and reflect on the people who effectively helped America.

Bird Blind A “Flanking” approach was used in this project to enable the viewer to experience the wildlife found in this area of Central Park in its pure, natural setting. The visitors would travel through three main observatories, each one more subtle than the last, effectively “surrounding” the natural environment.

Fashion Headquarters - Mark Fast A fashion designer needs an efficient space where design, production, and retail are all taken into account. In keeping with Mark Fast’s modern knitwear design themes, the headquarters for his work was conceptualized. Taking the idea of knitting and the intertwining of fabrics, the program within the building has each space directly relating to and intertwining with each other.

Red Hook Music Conservatory This project began with an in depth analysis of the way music is structured, analyzing different drumming patterns and rhythms in particular. What emerged from that analysis was an approach that took into account the two main types of music: raw and refined. The “raw” music would be contained in the school portion of the conservatory where a communal practice space would serve as the central hub for all students. The more dynamic and “refined” music would be presented in the form of formal performances in the main theater.
