COAST TO COAST

“2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made in perfect weakness.”

By Minister Sonya Hosey

I have permission to share the heart of my daughter

Wyntrane Hosey. Years ago, I watched her stand proudly in her Army uniform, which reminded me of the generations of family who served our country. However, she returned broken.

Wyntrane Hosey: “I felt the worst moment in my life was when discharged from the Army after serving three years. As a black lesbian woman, I often received unwanted attention from men who believed they had altered my lifestyle. A Sergeant First Class changed my life forever when he molested me. I reported the act and lost my rank. I was depressed and lost motivation and direction in life. I returned from Iraq believing that I had nothing. I became frustrated when I tried to achieve my goals.

After many years, I realized God designed me to receive and give grace, knowing it was for my purpose.

He shows power in our weaknesses, and these weaknesses can give opportunities for God to reveal his grace on our behalf. Therefore, in all situations, we can endure life’s work which lays the foundation for a better life.”

According to Pew Research, women are likely to have emotionally traumatic and distressing experiences while serving (47% vs. 42% of men), and their transition back into civilian life is equally challenging.

I am a proud mother who gives my daughter - a “Voice to the Voiceless.”
