Nanjak Library

Location: Jakarta

Area: 3.750 sqm

Typology: Public Library

Purpose: Designing a public library that facilitates the need for educational space as a center of knowledge around the area.

Around the site, there are various schools and campuses so the design of this public library must be able to reach various elements and ages that access knowledge in this building.

Carrying out the ramp concept as vertical access, visitors are expected to be able to access books on each floor on foot. This is a symbol of the journey to reach the desires and curiosity that must be achieved by moving.

The façade which is cut at the corners is an adaptation to the bookshelves which must be protected from the sun but still get natural light.

Empennage Apartment

Location: Kemayoran, Jakarta Utara

Area: 4.015 sqm

Typology: Apartment

Purpose: To design apartments for millennials with middle and upper social classes using the interlock system concept from Le Corbusier

Kemayoran district in the northern part of Central Jakarta lies just at the border with the district of North Jakarta. At its heart is the large Kemayoran complex, once Jakarta’s old airport, that has been transformed into a sprawling exhibition area, named the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) venue surrounded by business offices. Moreover, the district is close to Jakarta’s oldest shopping centers, Pasar Baroe and Mangga Dua. The middle and upper social classes are scattered around the area so that the provision of studio and loft apartment types is considered to be able to meet the needs of millennials.

Lekuk House

Location: Jakarta

Area: 72 sqm

Typology: Compact House

Purpose: Design a compact house for a family of 3 family members equipped with a work space and a rooftop garden.

The space requirement for a family of 3 can be met with sufficient space. Provide space on the first floor so they can gather on the sidelines of their activities at home. as well providing home office facilities to fulfill the work of the parents.

Accommodating space requirements in limited land is very challangeing. But dont forget to provide a semi open space to keep getting good air flow and adequate lighting. Green open space also gives the impression of being spacious and airy.

Advantages of having a small house:

More energy efficient. Smaller homes are often more energy efficient because they have less space to heat and cool, which means they have a lower ecological footprint

Less cleaning and maintenance required. Fewer rooms means less time spent on cleaning and housekeeping

Comfortable and intimate

Cheaper. Smaller houses are cheaper

Changing our lifestyle. This is part of human adaptation to the environment
