Awards Keith Stimson High Percussion Award
This award is presented to the highest scoring percussion section in memory of Keith Stimson, a former Plymouth Whitemarsh drumline member who died unexpectedly in his junior year at PW.
In 1987, Keith was attending Tech school studying Commercial Art. He loved working with other students and various school activities and was chairman of the American Red Cross Blood Drive.
In addition to band activities, he was a member of Colonial Players and appeared in his first production, The Sound of Music, as the youngest von Trapp son. He enjoyed working behind the scenes and especially loved working on the lighting for the school productions. He was the first student to program all the lighting for the 1987 spring production of the Colonial Players. Keith was a member of the rock group called “Silver Mane,” with their last performance at the cast party for the production of “ The King and I,” on April 4, 1987.
When not in school, Keith could be found outside enjoying his skateboard. Before he died, he auditioned and was chosen to be a member of the Bridgemen Drum & Bugle Corps, located in New Jersey. Keith had a zest for life, people, and a strong dedication to school activities.
Adam M. Wilson Overall Music Award
The Adam M. Wilson Overall Music Award, in honor of Adam M. Wilson, symbolizes his commitment to the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School music programs, including the marching band, concert band, jazz band, orchestra, chorus, and theater productions.
Adam was diagnosed with a rare form of Lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system, at the end of his sophomore year, after having successfully auditioned for the role of Drum Major with the Marching Colonials. He courageously fought the disease for 10 months while being home schooled during his junior year until he died in April, 2000.

Guidelines for Spectator Etiquette
Every student who sets foot upon this field this evening is a wi nner! Each has worked long and hard preparing and will now present to you for your approval the results o f their labors. It is you job as a spectator to give as much attention as is humanly possible and to acknowledge everyone’s efforts throughout the performances.
Each and every one of the students here today has given an enormous amount of their time and energies working hard striving for excellence. Each and every one of these performing groups will achieve to a varying degree and each and every one of these stu dents is deserving of response and recognition! The job of a spectator is to cheer wildly and enthusiastically for ALL the bands.
It is not proper to enter or leave your seat in the middle of someone’s performance. Please wait until the performance is completed before entering or leaving your seat.
The time to talk and comment is in between performances and definitely not while a band is performing.
It is proper and expected that all spectators will applaud fo r ALL of the performers. Some spectators have fallen into the habit of only applauding for their won child’s performance, thinking that the amount of applause that a group g ets might affect the score. Judges really are not affected by spectators’ applause.
Let it be known that air horns, cow bells and any other nois e making devices in the stands can actually be a detriment to a band’s performance. If the judges cannot hear the band perform, they cannot give proper credit.
Support the host school financially tonight. Buy a program, a soda and a hot dog. Let the advertisers and sponsors know that you saw their ad in the book and appreciate their continued support.
The Cavalcade of Bands, Inc.
VIDEO TAPING POLICY
Personal videotaping (cell phones, video camera, go pros, etc..) is NOT PERMITTED at all weekly contests and Cavalcade Championships. Each band will be permitted to have one person to record just their band’s performance at championships for educational purposes.
Anyone caught videotaping at championships will be asked to stop and if they fail to cease they will be asked to leave the premises by Cavalcade staff and not refunded their ticket price.
This is to endure Cavalcade, and all member schools, are compliant with all music, video and performance synchronization laws. There are serious financial consequences for anyone breaking these laws which the Cavalcade Board, Band Directors and Administration fully support.
Once again, personal videotaping (cell phones , video camera, go pros, etc..) is NOT PERMITTED at championships. Thank you for your understanding and complete compliance with this direction.
