2023 YEAR IN REVIEW DALLASSPORTS.ORG

A Message from our Executive Director

A Message Executive Director

2023 was a BIG year for Dallas. After the momentum created in 2022 with major event announcements, more attendees able to attend our events, and a massive boom in economic impact, 2023 surpassed even our expectations.

The Dallas Sports Commission booked and hosted 69 events in 2023, attracting 2.2 million attendees and making a $1.4 billion economic impact on our city. These events also supported 4,987 jobs and generated $20 million in local dollars. Those astronomical results contributes to one of our main goals at the sports commission: positively impacting the quality of life for Dallas residents.

Throughout 2023, we saw our long-term partners soar with record breaking attendance and helped our new or returning partners reach new hights. Our team worked diligently day in and day out to create exceptional memories for every athlete, coach, referee, fan, and event planner who visited Dallas.

It was a massive year for women’s sports in Dallas as we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Title IX. Hosting the attendance, broadcast viewership, and economic impact record-breaking 2023 NCAA Women’s Final Four was an honor we won’t forget in a hurry. Athletes Unlimited raised the bar for their Basketball Championship. Grassroots events like the Dallas Cup continued to grow their girls divisions.

Dallas also stepped on the world stage as the FIFA World Cup 26™ brand was revealed. All eyes are on the growth of soccer as we inch ever closer to the biggest tournament of them all.

2023 was another year for us to go BIG. We had scores of BIG wins in the community through literacy programs like Read to the Final Four, the return of the in-person Dallas Regional Spelling Bee, and organizing the NCAA Women’s Final Four legacy court.

None of the Dallas Sports Commission’s BIG WINS would happen without our partners, stakeholders, or community. As we look to the future and our 10-Year Anniversary in 2024, here’s a BIG thank you for your support and passion for sports. Sports make a difference in everyone’s life and that starts with you.

Here’s to the end of our first decade well played.
