The Dallas Park and Recreation Department is excited to offer the award-winning Dallas Outdoor Adventures program.

Located on 400+ acres of land, Samuell Farm is a perfect destination for field trips, birthday parties, team building, and corporate retreats. We are proud to offer seasonal adventure camps that focus on giving kids the opportunity to experience outdoor activities and build a foundation for the love of the outdoors. Our property is also home to city-wide special events held throughout the year.

EXPLORE STATE PARKS Parents, if you are ever looking for somewhere your kids can spend their day during Professional Learning Days (student holidays during the week), then look no further. Explore State Parks is a program created for days like those! Your kids can spend their day with us as we travel together to Cedar Hill State Park for a day of exploring and hiking.

RECREATION CENTER OUTREACH Outdoor Adventures is proud to provide outreach programs to various City of Dallas Recreation Centers. If your kids participate in Out of School Time, then they can expect to have a visit from our team. Recreation Centers have the opportunity to sign up for the following outdoor activities at no cost to you. We hope your kids enjoy having us and learn something new!

Fishing/Backyard Bass Geocaching Nature Photography Survival Skills

*Recreation Center participation is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis

MOUNTAIN BIKING We have certified Ride Leaders who excel in teaching the foundational skills needed to mountain bike safely. Once you complete the pre-ride assessment, our staff will guide you through the trails at Samuell Farm.

Beginner and experienced participation is encouraged.

FISHING Did you know Samuell Farm has multiple fishing ponds? We have seen some big catches out here! If you are interested in learning how to tie fishing knots, explore different types of bait, and of course cast a reel then you will not want to miss this offering.

Tuesday, October 8 | Ages 10-15 Thursday, October 10 | Ages 16+ Cost: Free Time: 5:30pm-7:00pm

GEO-PHOTOGRAPHY A fusion of geocaching and nature photography, this outdoor treasurehunting activity will lead you not only to a cache, but also to a picturesque location at Samuell Farm where you can snap a photograph. Participants will take home a hidden treasure and a printed copy of their favorite photo.

ARCHERY Archery is a rapidly growing recreational hobby loved by kids and adults alike. Our Basic Archery Instructors and Trainer are certified through The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). Take aim and join our skilled staff members to learn the basics of archery.

KAYAKING Kayaking is a great form of exercise and also provides a relaxing experience. Our instructors who are certified through the American Canoe Association, are exceptionally trained to teach the basics of kayaking. This course will teach you safety, how to paddle, and even guide you through a beautiful lake-side trail at White Rock Lake.

Saturday, November 2 | Ages 10-17 Saturday, November 16 | Ages 18+ Cost: $15 Time: 10:00am-12:00pm Location: White Rock Lake

*Mountain biking, fishing, geo-photography, archery, and kayaking all include necessary equipment *Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult *Program dates are subject to change depending upon weather conditions

FAMILY CAMPING This program is designed to comfortably introduce families to the joys of car camping. Car camping is great because you can bring all the gear and food you want to make you feel at home (in the woods). We are proud to be able to provide top of the line camping equipment so all you have to worry about is what you’re having for dinner & breakfast. Our seasoned staff members will be sure to provide your family with a foundation for the love of the outdoors.

Saturday-Sunday, October 12-13 | All Ages Cost: $75 per family up to 6 people Time: 3:00pm-12:00pm Location: Cedar Hill State Park

*Camping equipment provided: 4, 6, or 8-person tent, cots (for adults), foam pads (for children), 2-burner stove, propane, lanterns, headlamps, and a cook set which includes pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils,

FALL BREAK CAMP School is out! Join us at Samuell Farm for so many outdoor adventures your camper will not want to miss. Our enthusiastic counselors will teach activities like archery, leather working, survival skills, mountain biking, nature photography, and geocaching just to name a few.

Monday-Wednesday, November 25-27 Ages: 7-15 Cost: $50 Shuttle: $15 Time: 9:00am-5:00pm

WINTER BREAK CAMP Give the gift of Outdoor Adventures Camp! An extended time out of school is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and learn something new. Winter Break Camp has the same offerings as Fall Break Camp and is available for two separate sessions.

Session 1: Monday-Friday, December 23-27 (with the exception of December 25)

Session 2: Monday-Friday, December 30-January 3 (with the exception of January 1)

Ages: 7-15 Cost: $80 Shuttle: $20 Time: 9:00am-5:00pm

ADVENTURE PACKAGES Looking for a place to have a birthday party, corporate retreat, or guided teambuilding? Outdoor Adventures at Samuell Farm is the perfect location.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION & FIELD TRIPS Outdoor Adventures offers a wide array of educational classes for 2nd-8th grade students. Spend your day with our educated staff who have been certified to lead courses provided by Project Wild and Aquatic Wild which is a learning resource provided by the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies.

Our classes range from weather systems to pond ecology and so much in between. We will be sure your day is packed with adventure and education!
