A Letter from the President Warren Sibley

In the middle of a hectic summer, as life ramps back up to “normal”, activities resume, and schedules fill, I’ve felt the overwhelming need to say, “thank you” to so many people. Thank you to the moms and dads who persevered with us as we tried (then failed, tried and failed again, then kept trying) to implement some sort of reservation system - on the fly - to allow for pool usage, while abiding by ever-changing guidelines. Thank you to the golfers who played in the midst of some of our heaviest sustained usage in recent memory, while at the same time dealt with cups sticking out of the ground, having to walk, single rider carts, no fivesomes, no range balls, no practice facility, no guests, “don’t touch the flag”, “where’s the rake?”, and more. Thank you to the tennis players who had to deal with no leagues, no water, no pros, no doubles, and all the worry about how to space and find your tennis balls. Thank you to all our regular groups of card players, early morning coffee drinkers, 19th-hole revelers, Wednesday night family dinners, and fitness facility users who had their routines upended. A huge thank you to all our employees who continue to come to work in the middle of a pandemic and maintain the high level of service we’ve grown to appreciate. Lastly, thank you to our executive staff for their ingenuity, creative ideas, and stick-to-itiveness which allowed us to set the standard for other clubs in our area, keep our workers employed, and our Club open. I realize we are not “out of the woods”. Covid isn’t going anywhere. Undoubtedly, we will have new guidelines that will temporarily change how we do things and cause us to alter our plans. We will do our best to keep you informed and updated. As a Board, we will continue to look to the future and strategize on ways to upgrade our facilities, improve our service, and enhance your Club experience. Plans and conceptual drawings for capital improvements are on-going and exciting. We hope to bring you scale drawings of significant improvements we are planning for the Club in the near future. Although it has been delayed, we had our annual Board retreat last week. We spent the entire day reviewing the last year and looking ahead to the years to come. We met with all the executive staff, our golf course consultant, clubhouse architect and chart a course for the coming months and years. In the middle of the craziest of times, Dallas Athletic Club is poised for some of its best years ever.

Thanks again,

Warren Sibley President

CONGRATULATIONS! Mr. Scott Johnson and his son, Morgan took the title in the Golfweek Father-Son on the Honda Classic Course in West Palm. The duo shot 5 under for the two days in the version of alternate shot called Chapman. Mr. Scott Johnson states that he “hit the best shot I’ve hit in 30 years on 18 off Morgan’s drive.” They ended up beating a mini tour pro and his Dad in a playoff. Congratulations to Mr. Johnson and his son, Morgan!
