Metro East Landmark Still Rockin’ Your Summer Nights!
Circa 1949
T
he Skyview Drive-In is a treasured landmark in the Metro East that reminds many of us of every aspect of our lives: childhood and the playground with our parents, high school days with our friends, special dates and occasions, and now taking our own kids and grandkids. The memories are as vibrant as the trademark pink screen and glowing neon sign “back in the day.” Steve Bloomer, current owner with his son-in-law George Johns, was just 1-1/2 years old when his grandfather opened the famous outdoor movie theater. “I literally grew up in the business,” he said, noting the fact that his family owned 17 movie theaters in the area at one time. In fact, they have been a Metro East anchor for family entertainment for much of the last century. Remember the Midway, the Rex, the Dreamland, the Ritz and BAC to name a few? The Skyview weathered a tornado in 1955 and a wind storm in 1981, but recovered each time to be better than ever. And now the family has great plans for even more improvement including a possible third screen next year. “We are the only drive-in the entire St. Louis region with the exception of Litchfield,” Bloomer said. Only playing first-run movies, “you can see the hottest new releases every weekend.” Surveys have shown that the Skyview draws from at least a 30-mile radius with 35% to 40% of their business coming from Missouri. “We draw quite a few from South County,” he said.
This summer get ready for the X-Men, Super 8 and Green Lantern (these three already playing); then Cars II, Transformers, Zoo Keeper, Harry Potter, Cowboys and Aliens, and more. “I think the big movie of the year will be Super 8,” Bloomer said with a smile, obviously a film fan. “You can’t go wrong with Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg on the same movie!” You can’t beat the price of admission – see the coupon on this page for a two-for-one promotion - especially when bringing the kids who are FREE 12 and under (two kids per adult)! And yes! The playground is up and running, plus the concession stand where you can use the coupon on this page for a FREE order of French fries! Box office opens at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday; 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Come early and enjoy the rich tradition of the Skyview Drive-In located at 5700 North Belt West, (618) 233-4400; www.skyviewdrive-in.com. COUPON REDEEMABLE ONE OF TWO WAYS

Bike Surgeon Expands To Offer Outdoor Gear And Apparel, Too!
C
yclists in Southern Illinois have been depending on Bike Surgeon for 30-plus years. The original store launched in Carbondale in 1974 and two years ago Bike Surgeon opened a store in Shiloh, and has since been the mainstream provider of all things cycling for the Metro East community. Located in the Green Mount Crossing Shopping Center in Shiloh, Bike Surgeon equips all levels of cyclists - from cruisers to kids to competitors, the Bike Surgeon meets your cycling needs. “We want everyone to enjoy the freedom and fun that comes from bike riding,” said coowner Jon Greenstreet. “Whether racing on the weekend or just enjoying the wind through your hair while cruising through the neighborhood, we know our customers love the emotions that riding evokes.” But bicycles aren’t the only big thing happening at the Surgeon. In early March, the store celebrated its eagerly anticipated grand re-opening. Now with twice the square footage, Bike Surgeon offers a nice selection of outdoor gear and apparel. The store now boasts a small in-house rock wall, camping gear, outdoor footwear, backpacks, sleeping bags, and technical clothing, just to name some of the new offerings - all of which were not available on this side of the river until the Surgeon’s expansion. The crew at the Surgeon also expanded their bike offerings with the growth of their custom bike program offerings from Specialized, Litespeed and Quintana Roo, the significantly larger 3D Fit Studio and the growth of their service area from two stands to four for quick turnarounds on their
prescheduled service. Whether it’s camping, hiking, riding a bike, or just strolling down the street with your family, Bike Surgeon is now the Metro East’s go-to shop for the great outdoors. “Bike Surgeon specializes in finding the right product for their customers,” said co-owner Chris Norrington. The crew at Bike Surgeon knows what their customers want - they are active members of the cycling community and work hard to share their appreciation of the outdoors. The Surgeon can often be found in the community hosting scout troop nights, supporting outdoor and cycling related events, and sponsoring local cycling groups and competitive teams. “It’s also important to assist in raising ‘share the road’ and ‘safe cycling practices’ awareness to help make our sport safer for cyclists and motorists,” said Norrington. The Bike Surgeon invites all cyclists to join in the shop’s coordinated weekly group rides. Every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. during the spring, summer and fall, the ride leaves from the shop. With two groups: “A” Group ~ 20MPH pace and “B” Group ~15 mph pace, there is an option that will provide you with an enjoyable ride and a great workout. Afterward, riders hang out at the shop chatting about their latest adventures and getting to know each other better. Check out all of the new happenings that are going on at Bike Surgeon by visiting the store at 3348 Green Mount Crossing, going to www.bikesurgeon.com, or taking a look at their Facebook page. FAMILY TALK ABOUT D RINKING video from Anheuser-Busch and Illinois distributing!
“The closest thing to Italy in St. Louis” Celebrating 40 Years On The Hill Today, Di Gregorio’s is owned and operated by Dora and her three surviving children: Frank, Toni and John, and now their children, too. Working together, the second and third generations have grown and improved the business.
F
or 40 years, customers of Di Gregorio’s have come from near and far to shop at the authentic Italian gourmet food store that contains homemade Italian sauces, meatballs, spedini, sausages, and other delicacies like spices, cheeses and sweets. “We want to thank our customers from the bottom of our hearts for 40 years of business,” said Antoinette (Toni) Ribaudo, daughter of founder Salvatore Di Gregorio who was born in Leuctra Freddie, Sicily on March 3, 1932. He and his wife, Theodora (Dora) whom he married on in 1951, moved to St. Louis with their two small children, Josephine and Francesco in 1954. In June of 1971, Mr. Di Gregorio seized an opportunity to open a small corner grocery store on “The Hill” where he and his family - which had grown to include Toni and her brother Giovanni - worked long hours. “It was just a mom-and-pop store when I started working here at the age of 11. I didn’t know it then, but my dad bought the store from my future husband’s cousin!” she laughed. Just a few years later, their homemade sausages made such a hit with customers that they were coming not just from St. Louis but other states as well. So they went into the wholesale and manufacturing business to accommodate. As the business grew, the family expanded their product line with items such as precooked sauces, meatballs, spedini, and a variety of sausage products. In fact, you might have had their products at area restaurants or even across the country and didn’t even know it.
Di Gregorio’s retail store which was remodeled and expanded in 2004 is located on the corner of Marconi and Daggett. The USDA inspected manufacturing facility is located on Shaw Avenue. The wholesale department that houses the main warehouse and offices is located on Marconi Avenue. “Di Gregario’s is a service-oriented, family owned and operated business,” said Toni. “And if we don’t make it ourselves, we carry only quality name brand products such as Iola, Stella, Stanislaus, Del Verdi, Barilla and Regina.”
Di Gregorio’s is located at 5200 Daggett Avenue in St. Louis; (314) 776-1062; www.digregoriofoods.com. Hours: 8 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Bed and Breakfast
nspired by his German ancestry as well as his grandmother who taught him to make wine, Dr. Paul Jacobs always had an idea that he would like to own a vineyard. That thought became reality in 1996 when he began planting grapes on the property just across the street from their Tudor-style family home in Pomona, Illinois that is now home to Von Jakob Vineyard. Now, the optometrist and his wife, Rhoda, give visitors the opportunity to “uncork the good life at two locations just a quick drive from the Metro East area: the first in Pomona and the newest in Alto Pass. Son Josh Jacobs, “who grew up around the vineyards particularly in the summers, has been working alongside his parents in the wine-making business. Summer Issue 2011
“Spend your Friday nights in Troy is the slogan for this year’s Troy Family Summer of Fun Series. Each Friday night, from the Friday after Memorial Day until the Friday after Labor Day, there will be an event at the Tri-Township Park. “This year we really kicked up this entire series, adding more entertainment and more movies than ever before, said Dawn Mushill, Executive Director, Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob Chamber of Commerce. “There are actually 23 events scheduled this year. The events include six movies, 17 entertainers, two city-wide garage sales, a Fall Fest, the City of Troy fireworks and the Troy Lions Club Homecoming. “These events are free to attend and all very family friendly, she said. “We encourage families to bring their blanket, snacks and enjoy the evening together. The events are on the north side of the Tri-Township Park in Troy. The entertainers will be in the gazebo and the movies will be on the ball diamond across from the gazebo. In case of bad weather, the movies will be cancelled, but the entertainers will be moved inside the Wiesemeyer Center. Although the entire series is sponsored by the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob Chamber of Commerce, many organizations come together to support this project. “This event would not be possible without the tourism funding from the City of Troy, the cooperation of the Tri-Township Park and the endless volunteers that come together to work at these events, said Mushill.
For a complete list of events, visit the Chamber’s website at www.troymaryvillecoc.com
Create A Resort-Like Setting In Your Own Back Yard Now you can relax with no travel required!
T
oday’s hectic world with busy careers, families and hobbies doesn’t always give us the time we need to just get out of town and relax. Thus, Scott Hesse at Scott’s Landscaping and Exterior Lighting proposes the “staycation” in your own back yard.
Hesse and his professional staff have been enhancing properties in the Metro East since 1990, transforming impressive designs to stunning landscapes. They are also a provider of quality plant materials including annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees and more. “The real trend right now, though, are pergolas, gazebos, pavilions and patios complete with fire pits,” he said, “a resort-like atmosphere you can visit every evening and weekend with no effort at all.” Whether a client needs a master plan to guide the development of an entire property or simply a professional start to a specific area, Scott’s goal is to give a vibrant, refreshing new look and feel to the home. Hesse offers a literal botanical garden at the site of Scott’s Landscaping on Old Collinsville Road with many different displays and examples of their work for clients to visit, sit and think about what they could with their own property. “We want people to come and stay for awhile,” he said. Offering all manner of landscape services like brick patios and walks, any size water feature, landscape lighting and more, Scott’s is the only garden center that can design, install and maintain the landscape after the sale. Interestly, Hesse was a math teacher for five years before finding a passion for landscape design. In fact, it was a basketball coach at his first job in Effingham who offered him a chance for some extra work at his business – Maxedon Landscape Co. “When I left Effingham, the coach made me promise I’d get into the business myself because he thought I had a talent for it,” Hesse said. “I miss the interaction of teaching, but I feel like I’m doing that with my staff and clients as a business owner.”
When a customer chooses to work with Scott’s, they get the convenience of working with one company throughout the design/build process, eliminating delays between stages of the project. Design and construction teams work together to keep the project running smoothly. Hesse will visit the homeowner and ask many questions like what will the space be used for; what are the homeowners likes and dislikes regarding plant and building materials and then we discuss what plant is best suited for particular areas. “All of the plants we offer are ‘zoned’ for our area, but there are some folks who want a colorful tropical or banana plant,” he said. “In that case, you can try to bring them inside in the winter, but they’ll likely need to be replaced the following spring.” Regarding maintenance, he said they provide something as simple as cleanup a couple times per year or a weekly program for a family that is just too busy to keep up with it or an elderly couple that needs a hand.
Scott’s Services Include: • Professional Landscape Design and Installation • Brick Patios and Walks • Specialty Gardens • Computer Image Design • Landscape Lighting • Holiday Decorating and Lighting
Scott's is located in Fairview Heights, Illinois on Old Collinsville Road just minutes from St. Clair Square: 5515 Old Collinsville Road; 618) 632-9338; www.scottsgardencenter.com.

Finally!
An Affordable Solution...
To Uneven Concrete Communities everywhere are plagued with uneven sidewalks and steps, sunken patios and driveways. These are more than inconveniences - they represent dangerous and unsightly conditions. Every property owner – residential and commercial - is looking for cost effective solutions to these vital repairs. Some individuals have had good ideas for dealing with these problems - Grover Miller had a great one. Over 15 years ago, Miller developed his first self-contained pumping unit to level concrete. Drawing on his 35 years of experience in the construction industry, Grover saw the need for a cost effective method of raising and saving concrete, and developed a unique piece of equipment to fill that need. By drilling a small hole in an existing slab (sidewalk blocks to airport runways!), an environmentally safe slurry is hydraulically injected under the existing slab and lifts it to its original position: Quick, cost effective and guaranteed. In 1992, Mr. Miller developed the adjustable piston and screener for the self-contained leveling unit, for which patents have been obtained. These, along with other innovations have allowed A-1 Concrete Leveling to provide a highly efficient and cost effective method for leveling concrete surfaces compared to traditional “tear-out” and “repour” methods. Four years ago, Karen and Tony Goforth of Collinsville discovered A-1 Concrete and this innovative technology, and joined forces with the company.
“Our product combined with customer service gives a great competitive edge in the market,” Tony Goforth said.
The Differences Between Mud Jacking, Slab Jacking and A-1 Concrete Generally in mud jacking or slab jacking, a portable pump is carried or wheeled to the location of the area to be raised. A hole of up to 3-inches in diameter is drilled that can weaken the area and allow too much material to flow too quickly causing cracking of slabs.
BEFORE
AFTER
Modern concrete leveling techniques at A-1 Concrete utilizes a 1-inch hole to avoid weakening the slab or raising the slabs too quickly. A pulverized limestone that is denser than soil is used at a slower, safe pace. Benefits of Concrete Leveling Over Replacement • The process is completed and ready for use in a matter of hours. • Landscaping and adjacent areas are usually unaffected! • Concrete leveling reduces job time, energy utilization and environmental problems associated with concrete demolition and disposal. • Leveling usually represents a savings of 50 to 75% over replacement.

AFTER
A-1 Concrete in Collinsville is fully insured, licensed and bonded. Call (618) 344-9923 today for a free estimate or email a1thelevelers@hotmail.com.

Perfect Plants ‌ Love affair with impatiens remains in full bloom
I
mpatiens plants are the gardening world's Big Mac: fast, filling (especially if you need a fix for shade) and ubiquitous.
Impatiens is going "gourmet," as new hybrids and exotic species catch the eye of specialty nurseries and snooty plantaholics.
If nurseries touted best sellers in neon, impatiens would get top billing among annual bedding plants, generating more than a quarter billion (yes, billion) dollars in sales annually. But like fast food, impatiens has its critics. Yes, its species are so ordinary. And those colors - blinding oranges and fuchsias, are they really good for a garden's aesthetics? Doesn't relying on them reveal a lack of imagination, especially given all the shade plants out there? Whether you're fan or foe, take note:

industry communications manager at Ball Horticultural, the Chicagobased grower that originally brought impatiens to home gardeners some 40 years ago. "In a way, they are like petunias - always a reliable choice. Having new life breathed in to them keeps them interesting for people."
"Today's impatiens are not the same old impatiens," said Jessie Atchison,
Recent introductions, marketed under Ball's Simply Beautiful label, include impatiens with starred, swirled and striped flowers in softer colors like lavender, pale pink and peach. There are trailing impatiens, minis with dainty half-inch flowers and ruffled, double-flower varieties that resemble petite roses.

"The challenge we face today," acknowledged Atchison, "is improving existing varieties and bringing out new ones that have never been seen before. People are willing to try them because they are familiar." Simply Beautiful recently introduced Jungle Gold, a hybrid of I. auricoma with snapdragon-like flowers in golden yellow with a glowing orange throat. Fifteen years of breeding finally moved the species' flowers out from under the leaves, so they can be seen (see photo on this page). Plant impatiens when temperatures are moderate to foster root growth before temperatures climb. Mulch and water regularly to keep roots cool. In hotter areas, afternoon shade is a must. Don't allow the plants to wilt completely.

THE SUMMER SHEER SALE
To keep impatiens from getting leggy, don't over fertilize or over water, Atchison said. When you fertilize, use a slow-release product.
Sale Ends July 31, 2011.
"This is tricky for home gardeners to understand, but too little water leads to wilt, and too much water or excessive fertilization leads to large, leafy plants with longer stems and fewer flowers," she added.

New Countertops And Cabinets Installed In Just One Day!
I
f you are like most homeowners, the thought of taking on a kitchen or bath remodeling project can be overwhelming. You know that updating these two rooms bring the most value to your home, but where do you start? A quick trip to a home improvement store creates more questions than answers. The expertise and service you were searching for falls short. After a visit to the “high-end” kitchen retailer, you realize that high-end could mean higher costs and possible inconvenience. Fortunately, there is a better way. With the advances in technology, superior products are available that allow you to remodel your kitchen or bath without going through the mess and inconvenience of traditional tear out remodeling. A complete kitchen or bath makeover can provide new custom counters, backsplashes, shower walls and cabinet fronts in a few days. The update is completed without demolition saving your home from being filled with mess and dust. This is possible through companies that specialize in quality countertop, cabinet, and wall surface refacing – an innovative approach that cuts cost and saves time while providing cutting edge products. Beginning in the kitchen, gorgeous new granite or recycled glass slabs can be installed directly over your existing countertops. The slabs are ¼-inch thick and completely wrap and cover the old countertop. The new overlay granite and glass tops are heat, stain, scratch resistant and maintenance free (no sealing required). Unlike ordinary granite, these slabs have a lifetime warranty against chipping or cracking – quite simply the most durable high-end surface available. Next, a custom Italian glass mosaic backsplash can be installed. Your kitchen now has the updated look showcased on HGTV! Tired
cabinets? A fresh set of doors with matching trim can be installed to your existing cabinets. Change your color and style in just a few days, and at a fraction of the cost of traditional remodeling. Turn your bathroom into the spa of your dreams. New vanity tops with coordinated shower walls and bathtub surrounds can be installed over existing tile. Custom Italian glass mosaic accents can be added providing the perfect touch to your new private oasis. Chipped or discolored bathtub or shower pan? A fresh, new acrylic liner can be installed directly over the old tub or pan providing an easy cleaning surface while avoiding tear out and expensive plumbing work. Pick out an updated vanity sink and faucet, and your project is complete. In today’s economic climate, it is important to maximize and retain your home investment with a quality kitchen and bathroom remodel. Take advantage of the technically superior products available today. Only durable, fully warranteed granite and glass surfaces that do not require to be sealed provide the value that smart homeowners and savvy homebuyers require. For more information on quality, no-demolition remodeling visit Granite Transformations website at www.granitetransformations.com/stlouis. Call to schedule a free in-home consultation with a qualified Design Consultant - 636.728.1100. Liposculpture and Men
Six-Pack
Abs!
Swimsuit season is upon us and it's not just the ladies who are looking at the latest swim fashion: men are shopping for summer attire as well. With the warmer weather, guys are out running, doing yard work, enjoying outdoor sports and more. Often, no matter how hard men work out, there is just no ridding ourselves of those stubborn love handles. Metroeast Surgery and Cosmetics has the solution to assist male patients in obtaining the desired results for the flank area, leaving a more sculpted and toned abdomen. Dr. Keith R. Thomae uses a tumescent local anesthetic meaning there are no IV medications, there is virtually no blood loss, and it is a painless procedure during which the patient can listen to their iPod. When the procedure is complete, the patient will enjoy excellent one-to-one nursing care ensuring a smooth transition into recovery. Our male patients who have undergone the flank liposculpture report little to no discomfort, with most stating that the mild soreness lasts approximately one week. With the ability to return to work and normal activities quickly, liposculpture is viewed as an optimal way for the patient to obtain the body they want with minimal downtime. Flank sculpturing by liposculpture permanently removes localized areas of inherited fat cells difficult to eliminate by exercise or diet. Dr. Thomae uses a small stainless steel tube the size of a thick wire connected to powerful suction which is a much safer procedure than traditional liposuction to remove unwanted fat, resulting in improved body contour. The patient receives tiny incisions which require no stitches, making the incision sites virtually invisible. For more information and to schedule your consultation with Dr. Thomae, call (618) 654-8100 and visit the comprehensive web site at www.metroeastsurgicalspecialty.com. Metroeast Cosmetic Specialty is located at 1212 Broadway Suite B, Highland, Ill. 62249. At Metroeast Cosmetic Specialty, how old you are is your business; how old you look is ours! Business Profile Long-time Pharmacy Offers Fast, Personalized Service Situated on the corner of North Center and 159, Maryville Pharmacy has been an anchor in the community for 35 years. In fact, when Registered Pharmacist Gary Ceretto first opened, he was one of the few businesses in the area.
breast surgery, Ceretto said. “This includes many different breast prosthesis styles, partial prosthesis for use after lumpectomy or reconstruction, bras and swim wear.
“We saw this area as having a huge potential for growth, he said, noting that there were very few pharmacies in the vicinity for many years. Then the hospital added on, and business increased greatly.
Some of their exclusive services are natural hormone replacement, and human and veterinary compounding for doctors to choose a more precise medication for their patient. They also offer Oxygen and emergency, after-hour care.
Ceretto graduated from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in May of 1976 and realized quickly that he wanted to own his own pharmacy: so quickly that he opened in December of the same year!
Ceretto opened in Ginger Creek one year ago to support a more residential community and both locations have convenient drive through service. Gary Ceretto and his wife, Diane, are known for their community involvement and are members in area chambers.
The beauty of Maryville Pharmacy – now with a second location in Glen Carbon at Ginger Creek – is the personalized, fast service each and every customer receives. “When it comes to our customers, we know that when it comes to healthcare, patients need more than just a filled prescription and usage advice. Our customers are friends and we can take care of their needs accordingly, he said. Maryville Pharmacy also offers many health-related medical equipment and products including a unique mastectomy and lumpectomy boutique. “We are able to supply the most extensive collections of intimate items for women after

rays in sunlight causes 80 to 90 percent of all skin cancer cases. A common misconception is that if it is cloudy, there is no chance of any damage being done to your skin. This is far from the truth as UVA and UVB rays easily penetrate the clouds and cause damage to your skin, even if it doesn’t result in a visual burn. You should pay special attention when playing in the water as the reflection of the sun’s rays on the water can increase the amount of UV radiation you receive.
Here are a few ways to help prevent skin cancer: • Seek the shade, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. • Do not burn. • Avoid tanning and UV tanning booths. • Cover up with clothing, including a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses. • Use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day. For extended outdoor activity, use a water-resistant, broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. • Apply 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessive sweating. • Keep newborns out of the sun. Sunscreens should be used on babies over the age of six months. • Examine your skin head-to-toe every month. • See your physician every year for a professional skin exam. For more information, visit www.skincancer.org.
Multi-Level Marketing: The Last Frontier To Financial Independence By Don Clair, PH.D.c and Roberta Jane Clair, CRP, CCI
Do you want a $300 a month raise? Would your boss give it to you? You are worth that and more, yet it does not happen. And really, it can’t unless you work for yourself. This is why I believe MultiLevel Marking (MLM) is the last business frontier that offers a truly level playing field. Your income reflects your effort and nothing more. Our training system has a proven track record to prove this philosphy. You are paid for your level of skill, your ability to teach, that’s why at the Clair Caring Center (CCC) we offer educational programs about health, nutritional solutions and business tools. At CCC we are looking for three people that want a $300 a month raise or more. The requirement is that you are willing to invest $150 a month in your own health. This is what MLM does: it teaches individuals to duplicate themselves and to help someone else replicate themselves.
At the CCC, we educate people to learn how to take care of their bodies, awaken to the dangers of what man-made chemicals has upon the body and lastly to inspire you to take charge of your own health. You have only one body, come and let us help you learn how to use what God provided for you to combat man’s greatest health challenges. If this message strikes home to you give us a call. But, only if you really want to earn extra income, are willing to be your own boss, and truly care about your health and those around you. And lastly, have a passion to live a long and prosperous life. Please call Don Clair at 618-939-3834 for more information. www.youngliving.org/ donaldclair

Today’s greatest concern is our health: we are being forced to become responsible for our own health. Our bodies no longer seem to respond to man-made drugs to fight off infections, diabetes, cancer and many others. That is why the world of Essential Oils time has arrived. The plants our creator provided to us and the healing properties they contain are being discovered in cutting edge research today.

are you concerned with hair loss? P
erhaps you’ve tried lotions, potions or considered radical or expensive hair replacement techniques. Maybe you’ve just ignored it. But the fact is, you are losing your hair. This condition seriously affects self-esteem, confidence and shapes how the world perceives you. Now is the time to do something about it. The onset of hair loss or hair thinning over the scalp has many possible causes – and just as many high-profile treatment options. While over-the-counter and prescriptive medications dominate the field, Low Level Laser Light Therapy – a technology that has its earliest beginnings in the 1960s – is on the fast track to take over this hotly competitive health category. Leading the charge in the Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) in the Metro East is New Generation Hair and Skin Center. “Hair loss is an unpleasant reality for 80 million American men and women,” said Heather Heintz, owner of the newly opened center in Swansea. “Most people who are suffering with losing their hair are predisposed to the formation of DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which causes the hair follicles to slowly shrink and die. The laser system is like a reboot for the hair follicles. LLLT accelerates hair restoration by stimulating cell metabolism and helping to repair damaged cells.”

Every potential client is first treated to a scalp analysis and evaluation, which is necessary to determine if a client is a suitable candidate. The scalp is magnified to see if the follicles are still active, a good indicator of success with LLLT. During the 12-month hair therapy regimen, clients sit under the illuminated hood for a total of 60 minutes a week, then less frequently over the course of a year. The average client sees results in approximately four to six months. LLLT – is a gentle light therapy that stimulates hair follicles to return to a normal growth cycle. The process is: • Non-thermal and non-invasive • For men and women • Safe, easy and all-natural • Results for all hair types For a free evaluation call 618-233-5558 or 888-317-3612 to schedule an appointment. New Generation Hair and Skin Center is located at 14 Park Place, Suite B in Swansea. Visit the web site at www.newgenhair.com; info@newgenhair.com
