A) I am done with the harvest. I nished up the weekend of Oct. 25. I still have to haul manure and plow elds.
A) Soybeans were nished on October 24th. I still have 75 acres of corn left to harvest; moisture level is still 28%.
A) Slow and steady. It’s going good overall, but we are having to dry everything which takes time.
B) I had 165 acres of corn.
B) I planted 20 acres of wheat, 120 acres of alfalfa, 45 acres of soybeans and 150 acres of corn.
B) We planted about 400 acres of corn and 120 acres of alfalfa. We also have about 250 acres of timber and pasture that we graze about 110 beef cows on.
A) Our harvest is going pretty good. We have approximately 80 acres of corn left to combine, which is getting done right now.
C) I chopped 80 acres and put it into a bag and a silo. I used 10,000 bushels for high moisture corn and 8,000 bushels I stored in town so it could dry down. D) No, I got it all in before it started raining. I have someone custom plant for me and he was able to get it all done in two days with his 12-row planter. E) I’ll remember how good the harvest was for all it went through – both dry and wet times throughout the year. There were times when I was combining that I saw the corn was 210 bushels per acre. It was unbelievable. I was really happy with the harvest this year. F) I enjoy seeing the end result of the crop. I like seeing if everything you did for the crop results in meeting your expectations for the harvest.
C) I’m selling the wheat and soybeans, and I’m feeding the corn and alfalfa. D) No E) I’ll remember the cold and wet months of April, May and June, and the hot and dry months of July, August and September. F) I enjoy combining. You see the bushels of grain and know that all your hard work during the year is paying off. G) We are a fth generation farm. My wife and I, along with help from our son and my parents, milk 100 cows and raise all our heifers. We sell our bull calves at one to two months old.
G) I farm with my wife, Terri. She and I take care of the morning milking and chores while the evening chores I do with an employee. We milk cows in a double-8 parallel parlor and house them in a sand bedded freestall barn. We farm a total of 380 acres.

C) We keep the majority of our crops to feed to our milking herd and to fatten out steers. We usually sell ve to six semi loads of corn, but our priority is to feed our animals. D) No, we got all our crops in. E) The crazy spring and early summer. We were late planting and then we had so much rain – about the middle of June we had 13 inches in four days. We got the majority of our corn in the eld in about ve days in the early part of May; all but about forty or fty acres. F) I like seeing the good yields, I like the cooler temperatures this time of year, but mostly I like it when we are done. G) My wife, Melissa, and I farm with her dad, Mark Ehrhardt. We have about 60 cows milked with robots, and the cows are housed in a freestall barn. We raise our own replacements and fatten out the Holstein bull calves in addition to the beef cows.

G) We live on a dairy farm near Lake Henry, Minn. This farm has been in the family for three generations now. We have over 100 cows, a little over 100 steers, and approximately 80 heifers.

“I love Udder Comfort.™ It reduces fresh swelling and improves cow comfort. I like to start using it before the new fresh heifers are calving,” explains Kayti Jo Lyseth, who has loved Jersey cattle since she got her first Jerseys at World Dairy Expo at the age of 12. We put it on twice a day, starting on the day before a heifer is due to calve, or when we see a heifer start bagging up. We also continue putting it on after each milking for 2 to 3 days after calving to ease the stress and improve comfort and performance.
“We also use Udder Comfort on our older cows for the first few days after calving. It reduces swelling in older cows, keeping their udders in high quality condition. This helps us have higher quality milk. “We use this product because cow comfort is our top priority, and this comforts the cow. When cows have less swelling and are more comfortable after calving, we notice we have virtually zero mastitis.”
