PERHAM, Minn. – Mark Dombeck believes in doing things his own way while striving to achieve success. That has made dairy farming the perfect t for him. “There is no other occupation where you can do things so many different ways and be successful,” Mark Dombeck said. Mark, his two sons, Bob (38) and Steve (32), and his son-in-law, Jeremy Lachowitzer (36), have embraced that mindset to be successful and support multiple families on their 350-cow dairy farm in Ottertail County near Perham, Minn.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – For the past 20 years, the McWilliam family has taken their only yearly vacation during the beginning of the Minnesota State Fair. Their usual stops include the dairy barn to see the animals and the dairy goodness bar for a treat. This year, the rst day of their state fair vacation will also include the butter booth. MarJenna McWilliam, the 20-year-old daughter of Bruce and La Vonne McWilliam of Winger, Minn., was crowned the 60th Princess Kay of the Milky Way during a coronation held Aug. 21, the night before the opening of the 2013 Minnesota State Fair. “It was unexpected,” MarJenna said about her thoughts as outgoing Princess Kay, Christine Reitsma, placed the crown on her head. “This is a great group of girls and I was surprised to be in the top three. I can’t wait for this year to start.” Runners up were Katie Schmitt (19) from Rice, Minn., representing Benton County
