The Andersons have been milking for close to 40 years and have excelled at raising good quality Jerseys. The animals on the sale include 12 first calf, 12 second calf, 4 third calf and 11 fourth calf animals. Many of the Jerseys are milking better than 60 pounds, have strong butterfat and several cows have a somatic cell count under 100,000.

“They’ve always had consistently low cell counts,” Kevin Anderson said.

Some of the sires the Andersons are currently using include Jace, Hugo, Victory and Quest. The Andersons use a lot of young sires too; No TMR; Closed herd; Cows are currently being milked in a tiestall barn; “ They’re generally pretty easygoing. We don’t push them, just let them do what they’re going to do.

We’ve always had mostly Jerseys. Well, they’re all going to be hard to say good-bye to but there are a few that’ll be a little harder to let go than others,” Kevin Anderson said.
