Negotiations on supply chain agreement under IPEF substantially concludes : Govt

DETROIT : The Commerce Ministry(MoCI)said,membersofthe 14-nation bloc IPEF have ‘substantially’ concluded the negotiations on the supply chains agreement, including improving logistics and connectivity; promoting investments in critical sectors and cooperation for mitigation of disruptions to ensure business continuity, on Sunday, 28th May. The IPEF was launched jointly by the US and other partner countries of the Indo-Pacific region on May 23 in Tokyo. The framework is structured around four pillars relating to trade, supplychains,cleaneconomyandfair economy (issues like tax and anticorruption). India has joined all the pillarsexceptthetradeone.

The talks on supply chains, clean economy and fair economy were held on May 27 in Detroit, US. Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal virtually participated in the ministerialmeeting.

“At this meeting, negotiations under the Supply Chains (Pillar-II) were substantially concluded; while good progress was reported under the otherIPEFPillars,”theMinistrysaid.

Theproposedagreementonsupply chains aims to increase the resilience, efficiency, productivity, sustainability, transparency, diversification, security, fairness and inclusivity of their supply chains through collaborative activities and individual actionstakenbyeachIPEFpartner.

IPEF partners will undertake the necessary steps, including further domestic consultations and a legal review, to prepare a final text of the proposed IPEF supply chain agreement.

Once finalised, the proposed agreement will be subject to IPEF partners’ domestic processes for signature, followed by ratification, acceptanceorapproval.

Under this pact, the partners also seek to improve crisis coordination and response to supply chain disruptions and work together to supportthetimelydeliveryofaffected goodsduringacrisis.

Apressstatementissuedafterthe meeting by IPEF members said that the proposed supply chain pact contemplates the establishment of three new IPEF Supply Chain bodies to facilitate cooperation among the partners.

Consignees are requested to collect Delivery Order for all imports delivered at Nhava Sheva from our Import Documentation Dept. at Nhava Sheva - DN210 / DN211 / DN212, D-Wing, 2nd Floor, NMSEZ Commercial Complex, Plot No. 6, Sector - 11, Opp. JNPT Township, Dronagiri Node, Navi Mumbai - 400 707 , India and Mumbai - 1st Floor, MSC House, Andheri Kurla Road, Andheri (East), Mumbai - 400059 on presentation of duly discharged Original Bill of Lading and payment of relevant charges.

The container detention charges will be applicable after standard free days from the discharge of containers meant for delivery at Nhava Sheva. The containers meant for movement by road to inland destinations will be dispatched upon receipt of required documents from consignees/receivers and the consignees will be liable for payment of port storage charges in case of delay in submission of these documents. Our Surveyors are M/s. Zircon Marine Services Private Limited. and usual survey conditions will apply. Consignees are also requested to note that the carriers and their agents are not bound to send individual notification regarding the arrival of the vessel or the cargo.
