APSEZ becomes the 1st Indian Port Coronavirus pandemic a catalyst for to sign up for Science Based Targets Shipping’s Digitalization : Survey LONDON: The coronavirus pandemic is proving to be a Initiative (SBTi) catalyst for the digitalization of shipping, prompting ocean AHMEDABAD: Strengthening India’s commitment to the 'Paris Climate Agreement’, APSEZ has signed up for the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Through SBTi, companies are responding by committing to set science-based emissions reduction targets — across their entire value chain — that are consistent with keeping global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Committed companies have 24 months to have their targets approved and published by the SBTi. supply chain stakeholders to abandon manual processes and embrace automation to drive business growth, a new survey by transport management systems provider Haven Inc shows. The survey found that global business lockdowns had highlighted the time and cost savings available to decisionmakers willing to make the leap away from traditional management processes heavily reliant on paperwork. 35% of respondents said the use of manual processes caused delays, 30% said quotations took too long while 20% complained that booking processes were cumbersome. 42% of survey takers also reported they were now looking to upgrade their systems by investing in the further digitalization of their international shipment processes.
