MSC Smashes India's Heavy-Lift Cargo Record with 140-ton Transformer! MUMBAI: MSC India achieved another milestone in project cargo shipping solutions, with the loading of a 140-Ton transformer on MSC Regina from the port of Mundra, India. This is the heaviest ever breakbulk parcel moved on a Container ship from India, surpassing MSC’s previous record. The transformer is destined for a greenfield renewable power

development project in Zambia. MSC’s previous heavy-lift record was for the loading of a 115-ton transformer in 2018 at Port of Nhava Sheva. India is encroaching on countries such as China, Germany, South Korea and the USA, where pieces of more than 200 tons have been loaded successfully on Container vessels. Cont’d. Pg. 6

MSC Smashes India's Heavy-Lift Cargo Record with 140-ton Transformer! Cont’d. from Pg. 3 MSC has always put the customer at the center of its business, including by providing access to dedicated project cargo equipment to ensure the loading goes smoothly. Lifting gears were used to make this a successful loading using the right combination of special equipment. Loading a 140-ton parcel is a substantial process and requires immense focus and precision. Our teams demonstrated excellent teamwork and ensured synchronized coordination between the terminals, operations teams, stevedores, technical surveyors, and the shipper to analyze the all the technical aspects of the loading. We extend a special note of thanks to

members of the team at Adani Mundra Terminal who extended their cooperation as always. This entire operation was completed in the allotted berthing window, enabling us to maintain the vessel’s service schedule. The success of this operation has opened new doors for MSC to also cater to the heavy cargo category on Container ships. This sets an excellent example of what perfect co-ordination and teamwork can do. Once again, we raised the bar, proving the expertise and hard work can make the impossible also possible. We are grateful to all our teams who put in their best efforts, informed a MSC release.

FFFAI Convention in Chennai : More than 550+ delegates from India and Overseas to attend

Cont’d. from Pg. 3 The delegates include logistics industry stakeholders, representatives from different Ministries of the Government of India, and various State Government participation and industry experts. In this much awaited Convention delegates will have opportunities to interact with domain experts at six business sessions on current topics aiming to coping up the market trends/demands and expansion of the business horizon to surge. In addition, there will be B2B Sessions and evening entertainment /networking functions. “I take this as an opportunity to approach each of you to enquire about your safety considering the challenges that we have gone through and are going through for the past few years – a situation that no generation would ever have witnessed. With all the challenges, difficulties, restrictions, lockdowns one profession that defied all constraints and stood out was our logistics industry – to have consistently performed and delivered when the Country was locked down. World now realizes the importance and potential of our presence, our performance, and our profession,” said Mr Shankar Shinde, Chairman, FFFAI highlighting the importance of this Convention keeping in mind the challenging situation the industry went through during last two years. The FFFAI Chairman further pointed out that the logistics industry is currently witnessing rapid, significant and visible changes especially in the recent years. With India becoming a signatory to the Trade Facilitation Agreement there is an accelerated approach by the Indian Government – more so of the Ministry of Finance – to create a seamless, smooth and swift environment for global cross border trade. “The pace of trade facilitation is so dominant that adapting to such changes is becoming a challenge. Logistics industry is the core center for the success of the trade facilitations and a comprehensive rethink is required in our business environment and business model,” he added emphasizing the importance of the Convention theme. In his opinion, while India is taking strong strides and is emerging as one of the fastest developing economies with huge expectations to be in the first few top slots in the years to come aiming to become the USD 5 trillion economy by 2025, there is a need match this growth in all support activities. Galloping global trade requires support services to move to top gear, which is possible only with recast business model, digital enablement, innovative solutions and exploitation of technology to be a dominant global success story. “We have all these capabilities and more though our only

hurdle is to break the shackles of conventional mind set. With all the uncertainties around us, the only certainty is change and our willingness to accept and adapt to such change so as to remain relevant in every time zone. It is in this challenging backdrop that FFFAI will be holding our 24th Biennial Convention,” Mr Shinde added. Mr A V Vijayakumar, Convention Convenor and Immediate Past Chairman of FFFAI maintained that the mega event i.e the 24th Biennial Convention of FFFAI will be very exciting event as it is being organised after a long gap due to FIATA World Congress hosted by FFFAI in New Delhi in 2018. The 23rd Biennial Convention of FFFAI was held in 2016 at Kochi. Mr Vijayakumar informed that delegates would be tremendously benefited from this Convention thanks to thought provoking and well-structured six Business Sessions by the business session convenor and Chairman Elect Mr. Dushyant Mulani which include the following topics: Customs-Regulator to Facilitator; Industry Perspective & Expectation of Customs; WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement; International Best Practices; Digital Global Customs; Digital Transformation for Business Enhancement; Indian Customs Initiatives on Digital Changes; Importance and FFFAI Initiatives for Skill Development; PM Gati Shakti & Multimodal Logistics Operations; Asset Based Models-New Perspective; New Age Financial Model; Resilient Supply Chains; Global Supply Chains; Overcoming Disruption; Railways Connectivity & Integration; Aviation Industry for the Future and Next Generation & Youth in the Industry , etc. The inauguration ceremony, which will be held on August 12, will be addressed by Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon'ble Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Govt of India , Cabinet Minister of Ayush; Mr. Shashi Kiran Shetty, CMD, Allcargo Logistics and Chairman, NITIE; Mr. Vivek Johri, IRS, Chairman, CBIC; Mr. Amrit Lal Meena, IAS. The valedictory Session, to be held on August 14, will be addressed by Mr Shripad Y. Naik, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways. “We convey our gratitude to all who supported FFFAI to make this mega event happened very successfully. Our sincere gratitude is especially to all delegates, dignitaries, speakers, sponsors and media partners,” expressed the FFFAI Chairman Mr Shankar Shinde.

PM Modi urges Chief Ministers to slash Imports while boosting Exports NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged States to focus on reducing imports and increasing exports, asking them to identify opportunities and encourage people to use locally made goods as much as possible. His reiteration of the 'vocal for local' call has c o m e a m i d a burgeoning trade deficit and concerns over the widening current account deficit. Although goods and services (GST) collections have improved, there's potential for this to be stepped up further, Modi said at the seventh meeting of the Niti Aayog's governing council on Sunday, 7th August. India's upcoming G20 Presidency in 2023 is a unique opportunity to show that the Country is not just Delhi but every State and UT as well, Modi said. He called on States to set up dedicated G20 teams to derive the maximum possible benefit from the Presidency. India's merchandise trade deficit hit a record high of $31 billion in July, stretching the overall difference between exports and imports to over $100 billion in the first four months of the fiscal from $42 billion a year ago. The PM said States must focus on reducing imports, increasing exports and identifying opportunities for this, according to the statement issued by the Niti Aayog. "We should encourage people to use local goods wherever possible," he said. Vocal for local is not the agenda of one

political party but a common goal, the PM told the States, according to the statement. He added that each state should focus on promoting the three Ts - trade, tourism, technology - through Indian missions abroad. Modi said India needs to focus on modernised agriculture, animal husbandry, and food processing to become selfsufficient and a global leader in the agriculture sector. He asked states to focus on making India self-sufficient in edible oil production. India remains the world's largest importer of edible oil and is heavily dependent on imports. This, along with petroleum crude and gold, is among the country's biggest import items. "The Centre is targeting to reduce its edible oil import by half in the next five years," Niti Aayog member VK Paul said, briefing the media after the meeting. The States demanded an increase in the minimum support price for pulses and oil seeds to promote their cultivation at the meeting, he said. Modi said GST can yield more after the monthly collection touched the second highest ever at Rs 1.49 lakh crore in July.

Commerce Department Restructured; Multilateral & Bilateral Trade-negotiating Divisions separated • Withdraws power from Directorate General of Foreign Trade to make Foreign Trade Policy • Trade Policy Division has been bifurcated to Trade Nego a on Wing-Bilateral and Trade Nego a on Wing Mul lateral (TNM) to be headed by Addi onal Secretaries N E W D E L H I : T h e C o m m e r c e D e p a r t m e n t ha s restructured the organisation separating multilateral and bilateral trade-negotiating divisions to allow greater focus on ongoing talks for free-trade deals. It has also taken away from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) its power to make Foreign Trade Policy, leaving it only with the function of regulation and promotion of foreign trade. The Trade Policy Division has been bifurcated to Trade Negotiation Wing-Bilateral and Trade Negotiation Wing Multilateral (TNM) to be headed by Additional Secretaries in the Departments. The move is significant at a time when India is negotiating free-trade agreements (FTAs) with countries like the United Kingdom, European Union, Canada, and Australia. “The Trade Policy Wing/Division of DGFT, from the date of this order, will function as FTP division within the Trade Policy Wing of DoC (Department of Commerce) and will be responsible for foreign trade policy and all connected matters,” a Government notification showed. Earlier, FTP used to be prepared by the DGFT. The Ministry has now created wings of trade regulation and global trade promotion that will function under the DGFT. A Commerce Ministry official confirmed that the reorganisation had been conducted based on a report submitted by Boston Consulting Group. “So both the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and foreign trade policies will be under one Additional Secretary. The idea is to anchor related policies at one location instead of keeping it scattered. However, the idea is also to induct domain experts into the department. If that does not happen, the restructuring will be of little use,” he said.

The DGFT has been already working on the much-delayed FTP, which is now expected to be released by the end of September. Another former trade official said there might be a logic in separating the two divisions so that they don’t interfere in each other’s domains since in bilateral and multilateral negotiations, the considerations are different. “But one should not confuse form for substance. Our exports are not strong and resilient for reasons which are deep rooted in the economy. That cannot be changed by such restructuring. Sometimes, we diagnose the problem wrongly,” he added. The Government has been seeking to reogranise the work structure of DGFT for quite some time. In 2016, consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan submitted a report restructuring of DGFT, but it did not take off. “The effort was to convert DGFT into a corporatised agency like the Japan External Trade Organization. Governments in developed countries like Japan don’t carry out trade promotion functions. They do it through a corporatized body supported by the government. But our Government decided against it as in our environment it would become like yet another Government agency without any arm’s length functioning. There could also be duplication of work through the Government and the corporatized body,” the former trade official said. “Another idea was to hand over the implementation and adjudication function of DGFT to customs authorities because even now there is a dual responsibility. But the revenue department was not ready for it,” he added.

HYDERABAD: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (“APSEZ”), the largest transport utility in India, has announced its results for the first quarter of FY2023. “Q1 FY23 has been the strongest quarter in APSEZ’s history, with a record cargo volume and highest ever quarterly EBITDA. This is a 11% jump on a robust performance in the corresponding quarter last year that witnessed the post-Covid demand surge,” said Mr Karan Adani, CEO and Whole Time Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. “The company continued this strong performance in July and recorded 100 MMT of cargo through-put in the initial 99 days of FY23, a feat never achieved before.” This p e r f o r m a n ce w a s d e l i v e r e d b y b o t h the businesses – ports and logistics. The ports business, on the back of 8% Y-o-Y growth in volumes, delivered a 18% jump in EBITDA. The logistics business too experienced a robust growth, with EBITDA increasing 56% Y-o-Y. The EBITDA margin of the logistics business expanded 370s bps due to economies of scale and increased share of the GPWIS revenue stream. With APSEZ set to commission two new terminals in the coming months, this growth story will gain more momentum. The container terminal at Gangavaram Port will become operational next month, while the 5 MMT LNG terminal at Dhamra will be ready by December end. This LNG terminal has a take-or-pay contract with couple of O&G majors. The logistics business will also be boosted by the assets commissioned during the quarter. This includes a MMLP in Taloja, three agri-silo storge terminals with a combined capacity of 0.15 Mn MMT (one each at Panipat, Kanoj and Dhamora,), warehousing capacity of 0.6 Mn sq. ft, two new trains under the GPWIS framework and 125 trailer trucks for providing the last mile connectivity at three MMLPs (Patli, Nagpur, and Kishangarh). “Our strategy of connecting port gate to customer gate through an integrated utility model is starting to yield results,” added Mr Karan Adani. “We are confident of achieving our full year guidance of 350-360 MMT cargo volumes and EBITDA of Rs 12,200-12,600 Cr. APSEZ remains committed to its philosophy of ensuring sustainable growth in partnership with our key stakeholders.” KEY BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS – Q1 FY23 (YoY) Operational Highlights Ports Business • During Q1 FY23, APSEZ handled 90.89 MMT of cargo (including 9.09 MMT at Gangavaram Port), which is ~8% Y-o-Y growth. • The growth in cargo volume was led by dry cargo

(+11.2% increase), followed by containers (+3.2%), and liquids including crude (+5.6%). The automobile segment, though a small proportion of overall volumes, saw a 120% jump in volumes. • Both the Mundra and non-Mundra ports had a similar growth rate, and the non-Mundra ports contributed 53% to the cargo basket. • Mundra continues to be the largest container handling port with 1.65 Mn TEUs versus 1.48 Mn TEUs managed by JNPT during the quarter. Mundra, crossed 50 MMT of cargo volumes in the initial 111 days of FY23. Purchase order also issued for 107 tipper trucks. Financial Highlights Revenue • Consolidated revenue (excluding Gangavaram) was almost flat Y-o-Y at Rs 4,638 Cr, given the Rs 725 Cr decline in revenue from the SEZ business segment. This decline is well in line with our expectation and is factored in our full year guidance for FY23. • Cargo volume growth, improved realization, and addition of OSL enabled port revenue increase of 18% to Rs 4,090 Cr. • Revenue from the logistics business stood at Rs 360 Cr, a growth of 34% on account of improving container and terminal traffic, and also the bulk segment with overall increase in the rolling stock. EBITDA • Consolidated EBITDA (excluding Gangavaram) grew by 11% to Rs 3,005 Cr on the back of revenue growth for the Ports and Logistics business. • Ports EBITDA grew 18% to Rs 2,885 Cr on the back of growth in port revenues. • Logistics business EBIDTA grew by 56% to Rs 96 Cr, and the margin expanded by 370 bps to 27%. India’s Warehousing sector witnessing exponential growth owing to rising e-commerce MUMBAI: India’s warehousing sector is witnessing an exponential growth, thanks to the rising e-commerce segment, increased automation and robust manufacturing growth. This has opened up new and exciting opportunities for stakeholders in the sector with new concepts like multi-use facilities and consolidation of smaller spaces into larger integrated facilities. The growing acceptance of warehousing as a specialist sector is leading to several industrial houses opting to outsource their goods storage requirements. It also results in the monetisation of non-core assets such as, the lands of industrial houses. Growing demand TVS Industrial and Logistics Parks, the oldest, and one of the leading players in the organised warehousing space in the Country is also cashing in on the current trends by setting up industrial parks across the Country. Manikandan Ramachandran, the company’s Chief Operating Officer is bullish on the business potential of industrial parks especially when considering the India Warehousing Market Report 2021 that indicated a 19 per cent growth in annual transactions in the sector, more than

doubling to 76.2 million sq ft in the FY 26 from 31.7 million sq ft in FY 21. Setting up new spaces Sree Kailas Group, a leading player in industrial and logistical parks in South India, has already established more than 2 million sq ft of warehousing space in Chennai, Kochi, and Coimbatore. They have plans to establish logistics parks across Tier I cities like Chennai and Hyderabad, and Tier II cities such as Madurai, Salem, Trichy, Coimbatore and Hosur. “We are in the process of setting up a warehousing and industrial space at Sunguvarchatram near Sriperumbudur at an investment of Rs.150 crore,” said its Chairman S Rajkumar. The location, with its proximity to Oragadam — the auto hub of India — has a great scope for setting up the next generation of Grade A industrial and logistics parks, catering to the requirements of FMCG, e-commerce and industrial users, he said. On the slowdown impacting the business of warehousing spaces, Ramachandran of TVS Industrial and Logistics Parks said that, the warehousing sector continues to grow, and it is also not facing any challenges in getting new customers or financing for setting up warehouses.

RBI has taken steps to promote ‘Rupee’ as preferred currency for Global Trade: Nirmala Sitharaman NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken steps to promote ‘rupee‘ as the preferred currency for global trade in order to promote exports. Last month, RBI asked banks to put in place additional arrangements for export and import transactions in Indian rupees in view of increasing interest of the global trading community in the domestic currency. “RBI has put in place the arrangement for invoicing, payment, and settlement of exports/imports in

INR in order to promote growth of global trade with emphasis on exports from India and to support the increasing interest of global trading community in INR,” she said in the Lok Sabha. According to the Minister, the central bank has put in place the arrangement in order to promote growth of global trade by reducing the dependence on hard currency, with emphasis on exports from India and to support the increasing interest of global trading community in INR. She also noted that an increase in

exports may help reduce the trade deficit. The framework allowing invoicing and payments for international trade in INR is applicable for any partner country seeking to undertake trade with India in INR in terms of RBI circular. As per the RBI circular, the approval process is that for opening of Special INR Vostro accounts, banks of partner countries may approach Authorised Dealer (AD) banks in India which may seek approval from RBI with details of the arrangement.

Concor revenues grew 9.4 per cent year-on-year to Rs. 1,980 crore NEW DELHI: Container Corporation of India’s (Concor) revenues grew 9.4 per cent year-onyear to Rs. 1,980 crore, driven by growth in blended realisations to Rs. 19,528/TEUs (up 7.1 per cent yearon-year). Concor recorded volume growth of 2.1 per cent year-on-year to 10,13,048 TEUs in Q1 FY23, primarily due to steady jump in domestic volumes of 29.2 per cent to 228,191. Export Import volumes stood at 784,857 TEUs (down 3.7 per cent year-on-year). For Q1 FY23, EBITDA grew 9.0 per cent year-on-year to about Rs. 470 crore with EBITDAM witnessing contraction of 11 basis points year-on-year to 23.9 per cent). Margins were impacted due to increase in other expenses. Rail freight margin stood at 26 per cent for Q1 FY23 vs 28 per cent

in Q4 FY22, while operating margin came in at 23.9 per cent. Increase in rail haulage charges on account of reduction in exemption of haulage charges for empty containers to 15 per cent from earlier 25 per cent was effective from May 2022. The management took a price hike with effect from June, thereby passing the same to the customers. Delay in pass on of tariff hike marginally impacted Q1 margins. In the price hike, the management has considered tariff concessions to be eliminated soon. Consequently, Adj PAT grew 1 4 . 7 p e r c e n t y e a r- o n - y e a r t o Rs. 290 crore, on account of lowerthan-expected other income (down 27 per cent). Rail share at JNPT, Mundra and Pipavav of Concor was at 78 per cent, 42 per cent and 49 per cent.

The management has guided for healthy revenue/PAT growth of 10-12 per cent for FY23E on the back of strong volume growth across both the segments, healthy market share gains and pick-up in global trade. On the capex side, the management expects Rs. 550-600 crore to be spent in FY23. For the next 2-3 years, the company would be incurring major capex towards infrastructure, rolling stock, containers, and equipment. We are positive on Concor ’s prospects and believe that it is best positioned to capitalise on favourable infrastructure-related tailwinds. We remain positive on the structural growth story considering: continual market share gains in domestic segment; strong Export-Import volumes; and new strategic initiatives.

Exporters of wheat flour, maida need quality certificate for shipments NEW DELHI: Exporters of wheat flour or atta, maida and semolina will have to obtain a quality certificate from the Export Inspection Council for outbound shipments, according to a government notification. In July, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the commerce ministry, had stated that exporters of these commodities would need approval of the interministerial committee (IMC) on export of wheat for the shipments. “Export policy or items — wheat flour, maida, samolina (rava/sirgi), wholemeal atta and resultant atta — remains free but export shall be

subject to recommendation of Inter Ministerial constituted for allowing export of wheat,” the DGFT said on Monday, 8th August. “Export of all the shipments approved by IMC shall be allowed subject to issuance of quality certificate by Export Inspection Council or its EIAs (export inspection agency) at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata,” it added. It said provisions regarding transitional arrangement would not be applicable under this notification. “Necessary modalities with regard to quality of these items will be notified separately,” it said, adding the

notification will come into effect from August 14. Further, it said during the period from August 8 till August 14, consignments of maida and semolina will be allowed to be exported where loading on the ship has commenced before this notification and where consignment has been handed over to the customs (prior to this notification) and is registered in their system. In 2021-22, India exported wheat flour worth USD 246.57 million. In May, India banned wheat exports in a bid to check high prices amid concerns of the crop being hit by a scorching heat wave.

Colourful debut: Hapag-Lloyd’s first “Rainbow Container” has arrived! HAMBURG: After 175 years, Hapag-Lloyd is injecting a bit more colour into the shipping industry with the first Rainbow Container in the company’s history. This is just one of the many ways that we are displaying our commitment to more diversity, inclusion and tolerance. In summer, Hapag-Lloyd will also take part in the Christopher Street Day (CSD) Parade in Hamburg for the first time with its own “float” – a truck that will naturally be carrying the Rainbow Container! For a few days now, the CMR (Container Maintenance Repair) depot in Hamburg has had a colourful guest that is making the other reefers figuratively green with envy: Allow us to introduce... our very own Rainbow Container! We are particularly proud of this new addition to our container fleet, which Hapag-Lloyd wants to use to send out a signal in support of more diversity and inclusion. With the six colours of the rainbow painted on the container, we want to call for tolerance and openness for all people – regardless of their origin, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion or disability. “The Rainbow Container is more than just a symbol advocating for diversity. It’s unique, colourful and bold – and, in that spirit, we want to encourage all our employees around the world to be who YOU are! We aim to foster a corporate culture in which everyone feels welcome and where no one is excluded,” said Donya Amer, CIO/CHRO at Hapag-Lloyd. And, of course, this milestone along our path to more

equality must also be advertised and celebrated. To visibly demonstrate our commitment to diversity, Hapag-Lloyd will be participating for the first time in the Christopher Street Day (CSD) Parade to be held in Hamburg on 6 August. After a two-year break caused by the pandemic, the festive parade for more rights and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people can finally take place again in many cities around the world. To coincide with the CSD parade in Hamburg, the Pride flag will be flown above the roof of our headquarters b u i l d i n g o n t h e B a l l i n d a m m a g a i n t h i s y e a r. This celebration of diversity can now start -– and we are looking forward to it!

Cargo ships to pay 9 % more in Marine aids to Navigation dues after Govt revises rates NEW DELHI: The Union Government has revised the marine aids to navigation dues levied on ships arriving at or departing from a Port in India which translates into an effective 9 percent increase in rates despite the application of 18 per cent goods and services tax (GST). The marine aids to navigation dues will be collected on foreign going ships at Rs 85 per twenty-foot equivalent unit or TEU on Container vessels and at Rs 7.50 per net registered tonnage (NT) on foreign going ships other then Container vessels, according to a 28 July gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Water ways. On this rate, 18 per cent GST will be collected.

The new rates will take effect from 28 August 2022. GST was not collected on the lighthouse dues since its implementation in 2017 though it is considered a service to the marine industry on which 18 percent GST would apply. The Central Advisory Committee which recommends revision in marine aids to navigation dues felt that collecting 18 per cent GST over the existing rates would impose a “burden” on the shipping industry. “Hence, the Union Government decided to collect 18 per cent GST after reducing the existing rates so that the net impact will be half of the tax component to the shipping industry,” said a MoPSW official. “The GST on marine aids to

navigation dues is 18%. By reducing the dues, the effective net increase will be 9%,” he added. This is being done so that the shipping industry will not feel the full impact of GST on marine aids to navigation dues – the Union Government will bear half, and half of the GST will be added onto the dues. Bringing light dues under GST will benefit users also, added. This is the first revision in the marine aids to navigation dues which was earlier known as the light house dues under the erstwhile Light House Act 1927. The lighthouse dues will be called marine aids to navigation dues, per the new law. The new law was enacted to formulate rules and procedures for collecting GST, among other reasons.

DP World Cochin handles 60000 Kgs of Break Bulk Cargo on Container Vessel COCHIN: Utilising a container vessel service to ship critical break bulk cargoes are now becoming a new method of shipping. The Kerala Minerals and Metals (A Government of Kerala Undertaking Company) imports a Pressure Filtration Equipment of 60000 Kgs for their 5TPH Integrated Pressure Filtration and Spin Flash Drying System Project. The cargo arrived Sunday 7th August 2022 on MV Chennai Express /2224W Operated by Hapag Lloyd. In close cooperation with carrier, terminal and logistics service providers a solution is possible for the critical break bulk cargo movements. Addax Logistics was the Logistics Service Provider in Cochin to execute this Project movement for MB Projects & Logistics India Pvt. Ltd., an exclusive

partner of Martin Bencher Group – a Scandinavian shipping and freight forwarding company. Justin David John, Commercial Director in Addax Logistics said, “These days, it is beneficial to ship oversized and overweight cargo in container ships. A reliable shipping schedule, fixed transit times of container vessels, high frequency of departures, all-inone-shipping, are the advantages of shipping break bulk cargo in container ships. We often handle cargo for construction projects for the new building or expansion of factories.” “Container vessels operate in liner

services that allows for a reliable and long-term planning of ocean freight shipping. Also, commercially smaller lots will not attract the high inducement freight rates of break bulk vessels. Due to these apparent benefits, shipping project cargo as break bulk on container vessels are becoming more common,” he added.
