Elaborating on these, he remembered the past days of with typewriter, old-fashioned and less available zerox machines and other types of technical hazards which sometimes stalled the entire shipping operations, caused delays.

Mr Ashish Sheth, who was on dais with vast experience in this industry and running a over 100 year old company CKB Group, compares past days with present era of digitization as the age of speedy clearance everywhere. He mentioned old customs day and the fringes of processing documents from one department to other with the logistics hurdles in every point from source stations to destinations. He also shares the crossing of hurdles in and outside of those days to introduce new era of automation to the older genres, as fresh investment forthebettermentofthebusiness.

Mr Samir Shah, who also gathers vast knowledge in customs procedures, shares his experience while working with the officials while adopting or introducing newer technology for government procedural changes. There is no time to stay back or step back from technological advancements citing financial stringers, otherwise you’ll have to stay aside from the track, he mentioned. We have to cope up with the government regulatory authority as he pointed out the introduction of icegate, e-bill, e-transaction of documents, Electronic Bill of Lading as well as GPS connectivity everywhere in trucks, warehouses, required forshipment.

Mr Prashant Popat, who also has a legacy of 97 year old company Velji Dosabhai & Sons Pvt Ltd, shares the old days, bottlenecks of handling a shipment from the client to its destination. Sharing his views and experiences on pre-digital era and to introduce the automation in his years–old family business, Mr Prashant said one shouldn’t take digitization either as bad investment or use of less-manpower, but as to serve the clients with much better way.

He also focused on to good ERP system, good connectivity, and strong IT team which are needed now a days for smooth operations. He also pointed out that the present digital era also much talked about the strong cyber security fortheentire system, otherwisethesystem willcrash atanymoment.

Mr Raju Anthony -VicePresident -Commercial - Abrao Group,shares his views with the audience that, they are always to eager to adopt new technology as well as their strong backbone who are enthusiastic over to cater the best and hassle-free shipment to their clients.

The digitisation changed the customers as well the service providers from top to bottom. The team should get acquaintance to the entire process of digitisation, different tools related to it as well as a digital mental setup to take data as new asset. Post the basic setup inside the company it’s very much needed to aware its customer’s step by step process as the company’s beneficially.

A much focussed customer-centric approach with digitally related team always moves a company in load-less smooth operations. Mr Raju expressed in detail about the escalation of Abrao Group as a total technology-driven company. He viewed that every company should feel the importance of digitisation notonlyasadvancement oftechnology butatechnology withhuman touch.

In a reply to a question from Mr. Mitesh Dharamshi from Parekh Marine, Mr Raju pointed about that there may be a future ready shippers platform like Cleartrip, Make-my-trip to provide better end-to-end solutions approach to the customers. So it’s necessary for one to get digitally-acquainted with the latest technology for better serviceapproach.

Commemorating all the views of panellists, Mr Shah expressed that we should techonologically-upgrade ourselves to provide customer-centric approach in a better way. He also pointed to enhancement of technologydriven manpower from the entry level itself. He also suggested for the entry of newer generations such kind of seminar.
