MUMBAI: The 35th Annual General Meeting of the Brihanmumbai Custom Brokers Association (BCBA) was held on 18th September 2020 on virtual Platform, through CDSL. During the AGM held, BCBA has elected its New Office Bearers and Managing Committee for the term 2020-22. The following Members are the newly Elected Office Bearers and Managing Committee Members of Brihanmumbai Custom Brokers Association for the year 2020 – 2022. M r. K i r a n R a m b h i a h e a d s t h e n e w l y e l e c t e d Brihanmumbai Custom Brokers Association Team. This year BCBA conducted their elections online due to ongoing pandemic. E voting conducted on 16th September 2020 and total 801 members casted vote, many members appreciated the process. The meeting was started by President Mr. Karunakar Shetty. All the agenda points were taken up and completed successfully. The President addresssed all members who were present virtually. During his address he mentioned, “Over the years in my journey at BCBA I had the privilege of working closely with the stalwarts of the industry. Major Port Authorities Bill, 2020 passed by the Lok Sabha NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha recently passed the Major Port Authorities Bill, 2020 that looks to reorient the governance model in central ports to landlord model, whereby port infrastructure is leased to private operators. The bill aims at decentralizing decision making and to infuse professionalism in governance of major ports. The landlord model of port operation is widely followed globally.
Indian Exports start recovering while Imports remain subdued : Maersk The Indian containerised trade drops by 30% in the second quarter of 2020 as compared to the same period last year. However, as economies around the world start opening, India’s exports gain momentum and show signs of a V-shaped recovery. MUMBAI: The COVID -19 global pandemic has impacted global trade in many ways. The lockdowns in various geographies around the world, the closure of international borders and sudden demand-shock created an unprecedented distress in the global trade. However, as the economies around the world started opening in a staggered manner, the containerised trade has started showing signs of recovery from one of the biggest slumps in the modern times. During Q2 of 2020 (April to June), the Indian containerised trade contracted by almost 30% as compared to the same period last year.
