Process of Registering Ship will now be competed in 7 days : D G Shipping MUMBAI: The process of registering a ship will now be competed in seven days if all documents are in order, says D-G Shipping. In a digitalisation drive, the Government has made ship registrations online, pledging to complete the entire process within seven days. Earlier this exercise used to take up to one year. “Everything is online now. Within seven days, if all the
documents are in order, the ship will be registered,” said an official in the Directorate-General of Shipping, the Country’s maritime administration. Ease Of Doing Business It will help promote ease of doing business because ship owners were finding it difficult to get their ships registered. Container cargo handling at Major Ports drops over 30% in April-June: IPA NEW DELHI: Container cargo handling at India’s major ports tumbled over 30 percent during the April-June quarter of the current fiscal amid the coronavirus pandemic, as per data by ports body IPA. Container cargo in terms of TEUs (twenty foot equivalent unit) at India’s 12 Major Ports dropped 32.28 percent to 1.74 million in the the first quarter of the current fiscal, according to the latest data from the Indian Ports’ Association (IPA). In terms of tonnage, the container cargo declined 30.11 percent to 26.34 million tonnes (MT) in the quarter. Cont’d. Pg. 19

Mr. Mittal invited the Trade and Industry to share their views to increase the volume considering that there are many bulk commodities transporting from this area. He also emphasised that railway is now thinking out of the box and if required the Railway is ready to make friendly policy with the suggestions of the stake holders on issues such as pricing, discount and availabilities of special type of wagons.
