Mr. Akash Taneja, Zonal DC, KASEZ commented: KASEZ contributes around 30% Exports from all the SEZs in India. In this an important role was played by KASEZ’s Officers, Staff, workers, unit holders for participating in growth of KASEZ journey. KASEZ worksasamajorroletomanufacturing hub by “Make in India” concepts the vision of PMShriNarendraModi.

Exports in all has increased to 13,740cr and will touch above Rs. 15,000 cr. from the Zonal Office. The achievement of 61% Growth to last year is been credited to officers and trade Industries. Last year Gujarat SEZ represented by KASEZ, Exports stood about Rs. 2,45,000 cr. This year about 1 lac. cr. is expectedtobeincreasedalmost20%inthisfiscalyear.

KASEZ is all set to declare new infrastructure site like a new STB, New Water tank to fulfil water shortage to SEZ’s area. KASEZ has increased Oxygen plants during covid period and also supplied to all over India which is a big achievement. KASEZ has decided to deploy CISF in Zone premises for better security and woman empowerment as requested by KASEZIA. He also felicitates to all the Top Exporters by zone authority for highest exports from KASEZ in Financial year2022-23.

Mr. TV Ravi, IRS, Commissioner of Customs, Kandla-Mundra commented : Customs Introduced the important initiatives in the journey right from setting up EPSEZ to SEZ in India and started

Single window clearance under Single Windows system apartofvariouseaseofdoingbusinessmeasures.

Wealsointroducednew“DeshWheel”SEZActsetupfor SEZ unit for multi products SEZ in very short time will run and fully control by Custom authority of India. I Thank all KASEZ’sOfficersandcongratulatetoallthetopexportersof KASEZ.

Mr. Sanjay Mehta, IFS, Chairman, DPA commented : Deendayal Port Trust is a most important port of Country which has become a Mega port in very short time undertheconceptofPMGati ShaktiMasterplan.

DPA has appointed as a Chairman for Multimodal committee under Gati Shakti concept for Gujarat State. There are 3 major factors for economic development of Gandhidham Kutch i.e. Air connectivity, Rail connectivity and Road connectivity for Gandhidham city. Proposal has already put up to all concerned authority to be implemented shortly. All three connectivity plans is to be developed for overall growthofGandhidhameconomy.

We will upload on PM Portal for developing airport authority under Multimodal committee and get positive responsehopefully.

He said DPA is all set to establish Container Terminal at TunaTekrawithRs.5,000cr.investmentsandwillstartatthe earliest. That will be growth engine for entire economy of Gandhidham-KutchDistrict.

Tuna Tekra is to be developed as a modern mega port, and we will give proposal of 18 mtr depth in Tuna Tekra where the cape size Container Vessel will come in this Terminal.

Government has selected 3 Major Ports to build Green Energy for Hydrogen hub, i.e. Paradip Port, Tutucorin Port and Tuna Tekra Port. DPA is also working to make itself as Hydrogenhubaswehaveproposedexpressionofinterestin our portal recently and 10 companies are interested to come forHydrogenhub.

We are going to be a Mega port apart of Gati Shakti conceptbyPMShriNarendraModi.

The Zone boasts of being home to over 298 units focused on the export market.Itisthelargestemployerinthe Kutch District with an employment of around 28,000 workers out of which nearly 40% are female work associates. Major items of export from the Zone are chemical and allied products, engineering, metallurgical products, cosmetics/toiletry pre parations, pharmaceutical products, food, agro products, woven and knitted ready made garments,made-ups,sewingmachineneedlesandotherlight engineering goods as well as plastics Items. The Zone also has the distinction of hosting several units in the “Circular Economy” segment comprising of 17units in the worn clothingand23unitsintheplasticrecyclingsectors.

A number of warehousing units have come up over the years since the introduction of concept of free trade warehousing zone in the SEZ. In addition to generation of additional employments, these units are also earning valuableforeignexchange.Sinceitsinception,consistentand continuous growth has been the hallmark of export performance of this Zone with exports showing growth even during the testing times of the pandemic. From a humble export figure of Rs 7 lakh in 1966-67, exports touched Rs 9,172 crore in 2021-22. Further, during the current financial year, export has touched a new high of Rs 13140 crore up to the end of January,2023 representing an increase of 43.26% over the sameperiodinthepreviousfinancialyear.

Besides excellent infrastructure, its strategic location and proximity to the Ports of Kandla & Mundra make KASEZ one of the most sought after destinations for export-focused units. It is just five km away from Kandla Port, India’s largest public sector port, and 60 km from the Adani Port &SEZ, the country’slargestprivateport.

While ensuring that it remains a beehive of business activities,theKASEZadministrationhastakenstepstomake the 1,000-acre expansion of the Zone a green belt with gardens, vistas and fruit-laden trees which enriches the work environmentforallthestakeholders.TheAdministrationhas planted more than 5 lakh trees in the Zone using the famed Miyawaki technique to increase the green cover and to reduce the carbon footprint of the SEZ. Lease Rent reduction was given at the right time that have also boosted the Export figuresoftheZone,furtherdevelopmentof100acreslandwill also promote the trade and development in the Kandla SpecialEconomicZone.

Credit for the continuous growth in various fields of infrastructure development and export performances in

KASEZ as well as other SEZs in Gujarat, can be attributed to innovative initiatives and dynamic leadership given by KASEZadministration.

As a part of the celebration of the Foundation Day, various sports events, Blood Donation Camp and Mini Marathon were organized. In which more than 650 workers & amp; employeesfromindustriesaswellasstaff&membersoftheir families participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The sport events started with colourful opening ceremony on 26th January, 2023and culminated on 5th March, 2023. The winners of the various events were awarded with trophies&medalsinaspecial‘SportsAwardFunction’heldon 6th March, 2023. Time for Indian products to be the best in quality Globally : Piyush Goyal

MUMBAI : The Union Minister for Textiles, Commerce and Industry, and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Shri Piyush Goyal attended the Export Awards function organized by The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council(SRTEPC) inMumbairecently.

Addressing the industry, the Commerce and Industry and Textiles Minister said that “we have to study each Free Trade Agreement and understand requirements of other countries better. “Export Promotion Councils should open offices in other countries, such as in locations like Dubai. We have to thinkout-of-the-box.”

The Minister told the industry that we need to give special attention toquality.“The time has come for our quality to be the best in the world. This is the demand of consumers in India and across the world as well. The time for coming out with two different types of quality – domestic quality and export quality – is over. 2,000 products will come under Quality Control soon. We need to stop using low-quality products. We need to increaseourscale,focusonquality.”

The Minister observed that it is perhaps for the first time that the Prime Minister himself met with Export Promotion Councils and discussed the way forward including export targets. “Following last year’s record exports, this year, based on figures

available till now, we are confident of crossing 750 billion dollars ofexports.” The Minister said that itisamatter ofpride forusthatdespiteglobalheadwinds, wewouldbereaching this target.

The Minister said that unlike games like cricket, the state of business and industry is now such that the paradigm is one of win-win. “The Trade Agreement between India and Australia is a unity agreement, the two economies are very complementary. While Australia imports most manufactured goods, we get many of our raw materials like critical minerals from Australia. There is an investment opportunity for processing lithium and other rare earths and minerals, since themarketforthemisgrowing.”

MUMBAI - Honourable PM of Australia, Mr. Anthony Albanese said that Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) signed between India and Australia is a transformative agreement which will unlock the next level of potential in trade and investment. He was addressing theIndia-AustraliaCEOforumheldinMumbai recently.

The Honourable Prime Minister expressed sincere appreciation for the large turnout of Australian investors that came to India as well for the key Indian business houses that participated. He remarked that this is one of the most serious and high-profile delegations to visit India from Australian shores. He was very optimistic about the complementarities between both the nations and concluded by saying that this juncture is a turning point in accelerating economic co-operation and mutual benefits intherelationship betweenAustraliaandIndia.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal also participated in the CEO Forum along with Senator the Hon. Don Farrell, Hon’ble Minister for Trade and Tourism, Government of Australia. Shri Goyal noted that the current goal of doubling the bilateral trade must be reset by the industries and CEOs

present there as there was great potential to increase trade manifold between the two nations. He reiterated the growth potential of the bilateral trade and investments betweenIndiaandAustralia.

The Forum was organized by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in order to leverage the ever-growing trade and investment between the two countries. The forum was co-chaired by Dr. Anish Shah, MD & CEO, Mahindra Group and Ms. Shemara Wikramnayake,MD&CEO,MacquarieGroup.

A four-year extension MoU was also signed between Confederation of Indian Industry and Business Council of Australia in the presence of Hon Anthony Albanese MP. This partnership will go a long way in furthering the businessrelationship betweenthetwocountries.

In the fiscal year (2022), India is Australia's 9th largest trading partner. Major exports to Australia include petroleum products, textiles and apparels, engineering goods, leather, pearls, mechanical appliances, iron and steel and gems and jewellery. Indian Foreign exchange reserves grows by $1.5 bn

MUMBAI - After four consecutive weeks of decline, the Reserve Bank of India’s foreign exchange reserves rose by $1.5billionto$562.4billionintheweekendedMarch3.

TherisewaslargelyonaccountofanincreaseintheRBI’s foreign currency assets, which climbed $1.2 billion to $497.1billioninthelastweek,latestcentralbankdatashowed.

Reserves worth $576.8 billion as on January 27, 2023, cover 9.4 months of projected imports for the current

financial year,saidthecentralbank’sFebruaryBulletin.

From June to October of 2022, the RBI was a net seller of US dollars in the currency market as the central bank sought to rein in excessive volatility in the rupee’s exchange rate amid the Ukraine war and aggressive rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. The foreign exchange reserves increased by $28.9 billion since September-end to $561.6billionasonJanuary6.

Kind attention of field formations is drawn to relevant instructions in the Customs Preventive Manual 1987, Circular No. 36/95-Cus dated April 10, 1995 and 25/2016Customs dated June 23, 2016 whereby Board had issued guidelines relating to boarding of vessels by Customs Officers.

It is well known that all vessels arriving into the country report their arrival to the Customs and Port authorities. The Boarding Officer/s are usually the first to set foot on any vesselenteringtheIndianfrontiersandtheyarethecuttingedge functionaries of the Customs Service whose visibility extends to the shipping lines, terminal operators, logistic partners, custom brokers, businessmen, crew members /passengers, etc. The Boarding Officer acts as an Ambassador of our Country and is expected to seamlessly initiateandconductcustomsformalitiesandprocedures.

Keeping the above as an objective, and continuing with variousreformsundertakenbyCustomsthroughleveraging

technology so as to improve transparency & ease of doing business, to present more professionally the role of the Boarding Officer, keeping scope for upfront evidence in case of an offence or likely offence, and enhancing the protection of interest of the Customs Officer against frivolous complaints, the Nhava Sheva and Ahmedabad Customs Zones, had implemented, since August 2022, the sporting of boarding jacket fitted with Body Worn Camera (BWC) with video/audio recording facility by Boarding Officers while carrying out duties on board the vessels. Copies of the JNCH Standing Order No. 10/2022 dated August 11, 2022 and Ahmedabad Customs Zone Standing Order No. 03/2022datedAugust12,2022, areforreference.

Based on the feedback received from these Zones, the Boardhasnowdecidedtoextendtheuseofboardingjackets fitted with Body Worn Camera (BWC) with video/audio recording facility by Boarding Officers while carrying out duties on board vessels from April 15, 2023 with respect to theseacustomsfunctions.

Ruscon Quadruples Service Frequency Between India & Russia

MOSCOW : Multimodal transport operator Ruscon (part of Delo Group) has enhanced the capabilities of its direct regular container service between Russia and India via Novorossiysk.Thenumberofvesselsinvolvedonthesealeg was increased from one to four, with the regularity of shipments reaching four times a month. The route now also includesJeddahinSaudiArabiaasportofcall.

A regular multimodal service between India and Russia has been operational since July 2022, providing containerized cargo shipments from anywhere in Russia through Delo Group's terminals in Novorossiysk to the Indian ports of Mundra and NhavaSheva. The service rotation also includes the port of Istanbul. The transit time from Novorossiysk to Istanbul is two days, to Jeddah - 14 days, to ports of Mundra and Nava-Sheva - 22 and 24 days respectively.

Commenting on the expansion of the service, Ruscon's Head Sergey Berezkin said, "With the increase in the number of vessels, we are offering customers the best

delivery cycle in the market for optimal planning of the shipment schedule. This will reduce the storage costs in the ports of loading, as well as allow us to increase the volume of shipments. The additional call at Jeddah port will open up new opportunities for shippers interested in shipping to/from Saudi Arabia, which is one of the key states in the region."

Delo Group is Russian transportation and logistics holding, operating its own fleet and managing sea container terminals in the Azov-Black Sea, Baltic and Far Eastern basins, a network of railway container terminals, a fleet of containers and fitting platforms. The parent company of the Group is Delo Management Company. The Group’s stevedoringbusinessincludesDeloPortsholdingandGlobal Ports, a leading container terminal operator. APSEZ, JSW Infra, Concor, Essar among 10 entities submitting EoI for Container Transhipment Port in Great Nicobar Island

NEW DELHI : Ten firms that have filed expressions of interest (EoI) for developing & operating the international container transhipment Port atGalatheaBayintheGreatNicobarIsland.

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd, JSW Infrastructure Ltd, Dutch dredging contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, Container Corporation of India Ltd and Essar Ports Ltd are among the ten entities that have filed expression of interest for developing and running an international container transhipmentPortatGalatheaBayintheGreatNicobarIsland.

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd, Navayuga Engineering Co Ltd, VishwaSamudra Holdings Pvt Ltd and PDP International Pvt Ltd have also submitted EoIs for the project,governmentsourcessaid.

To be sure, the EoI is not a formal tender to pick an investor to build and run the first phase of the box transhipment port but is an exercise run by the government to seek suggestions from interested parties on ways to implementtheproject.

The EoI aims to finalize the project structure and qualification criteria after taking views of the interested applicants. Based on the responses received, Request for Qualification (RFQ)/Request for Proposal (RFP) and Draft Concession Agreement document will be prepared for biddingpurposes.

The planned container transhipment hub is strategically

located on the trade route midway between existing transshipment terminals (Singapore, Klang and Colombo) andfeederports,withnaturalwaterdepthofover20metresto help handle big container ships, besides having potential to capture transhipment cargo from Indian East Coast ports, BangladeshandMyanmar.

TheGreatNicobarIslandisjust40nauticalmilesfromthe Malacca Strait international shipping channel through which some 35 percent of the annual global sea trade passes. The economic scale effects in container shipping have led to a rapid increase in size for all types of vessels, from feeders to thelargeinter-continentalcarriers.Theproposedportwillbe designed to handle ships that can carry as much as 28,840 twenty-footequivalentunits(TEUs).

“The proposed transshipment port, with its deep draft, additional capacity, and greater efficiency, will provide an alternate option to shipping lines for container transshipment.Further,theproposedinfrastructurefacilities shall be such that the service levels and facilities match with that of the top global container transshipment terminals and neighbouringports,”agovernmentofficialsaid.

The Union government-owned Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Ltd (ANIIDCO) will helm the port on the landlord model wherein the common/ basic infrastructure would be built by the government while the cargo handling activities will be outsourced to specialists in the field for as much as 50 years. The private operator will befreetosetratesbasedonmarketforces.
