AHMEDABAD: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (“APSEZ”), the largest transport utility in India and a part of the diversified Adani Group, announced its results for the first quarter ended 30 June 2021. The results are a validation of the strong fundamentals of the APSEZ strategy leading to a continued gain of market share as the company transforms into a full-fledged pan-India Ports & Logistics platform. “Our strategy of establishing a network of world-class ports to balance cargo across the east and west coast has been tracking precisely as per plan, thereby continuing to de-risk our growth as well as lay the foundation of a broader logistics platform. This has resulted in APSEZ accelerating its market share gain," said Mr. Karan Adani, Chief Executive Ofcer and Whole Time Director of APSEZ. "We have therefore raised our target cargo volumes to 350-360 MMT, which translates to unprecedented YoY growth of about 45%. APSEZ also became the first Indian infrastructure company to have raised a dual-tranche of 10.5-year and 20-year unsecured bond, further reducing our cost of capital to one of the lowest in the industry. I am also pleased to state that our goal of becoming the first port company to be carbon neutral by 2025 is very well on track." In July ‘21, as part of the capital management plan, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) successfully issued USD 750 Mn of dualtranche 10.5-year and 20-year unsecured bonds in global capital markets. APSEZ
became the only infrastructure company in India to successfully place a 20-year paper, an achievement that reinforced its unique business model underscoring the strength of its strong fundamentals. With this issuance, APSEZ has given a longer yield curve to investors and elongated its debt maturity to over seven years. The operations of the company continued to benefit from its networked economies of scale and the digitization initiatives that the company has been investing in over the past several years. Operational Highlights – Q1 FY22 (YoY) • APSEZ handled 76 MMT of cargo in Q1 FY22 compared to 41 MMT in Q1 FY21, registering a growth of 83% compared to 33% growth registered by All India cargo. This was on account of continued focus on handling multi commodities across various ports. • The growth in cargo volume was led by dr y cargo which grew by 104%, container by 69%, liquids (including crude) by 57% and the addition of new products including LNG and LPG to the cargo basket. • Higher growth in cargo volume compared to the overall market led to a gain of 310 bps in market share, which now stands at 28.6%. Also, Mundra, Dhamra, Hazira, Dahej and Kattupalli ports registered high double-digit growth. • In the container segment, APSEZ handled 2.08 Mn TEUs, a growth of 69% as against 4.87 Mn TEUs handled at all India levels, which grew by 51%. Container market share increased by
163 bps and now stands at 42.7%. • Adani Logistics, the largest and most diversified private rail operator in India, registered a 10% growth in rail volume (76,925 TEUs in Q1 FY21 to 84,717 TEUs in Q1 FY22) and 13% growth in terminal volume (57,191 TEUs in Q1 FY21 to 64,418 TEUs in Q1 FY22). Financial Highlights – Q1 FY22 (YoY) Revenue: • Consolidated revenue grew by 99% from Rs.2,293 Cr in Q1 FY21 to Rs.4,557 Cr on account of an increase in cargo at port by 83%, rail volume by 10%, and ter minal volume by 13% in the Logistics business. • Port revenue increased by 75% to Rs.3,339 Cr. • Revenue from the logistics business stood at Rs.268 Cr, a growth of 34%. EBITDA: • During Q1 FY22, total EBITDA grew by 82% from Rs.1,438 Cr in Q1 FY21 to Rs.2,620 Cr on the back of 99% growth in revenue and 6% savings in port operating cost. • Increased cargo volume, savings in operating cost, and operational excellence enabled port EBITDA to grow by 78% from Rs.1,324 Cr in Q1 FY21 to Rs.2,356 Cr in Q1 FY22. • During the same period, port EBIDTA of Krishnapatnam, stood at Rs.424 Cr. EBITDA margin of Krishnapatnam Port improved by 250 bps to 73%. • In Q1 FY22, the logistics business reported an EBIDTA of Rs.62 Cr, a growth of 42%, on the back of 34% growth in revenue. Adani forms holding firm in Singapore to invest in Global ports MUMBAI: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has set up a wholly owned holding company in Singapore to pursue potential port opportunities globally as India’s biggest private port operator seeks to become the world’s largest port company by 2030. Adani International Ports Holdings Pte Ltd was incorporated on June 16 this year around the time chief executive officer Karan Adani unveiled the firm’s global ambitions in a speech in the firm’s annual report for 2020-21 released that month. The new Singapore-based holding company, according to sources, will look after the international ports business outside of the ASEAN region for which it has formed a separate unit in the island nation in July 2017 named Adani International Terminals Pte Ltd (AITPL).
AITPL will act as a regional hub for investments in the ASEAN region and benefit from various trade opportunities available under the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (FTA). AITPL will serve as the network point for investments in container terminals in Singapore, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. AITPL seeks to strengthen the subcontinental ports ‘necklace’ through organic/inorganic initiatives, extending from India to Colombo and Myanmar with the objective to provide a South Asian logistical solution. “Such container terminals will be integrated with the existing ports / terminals on the east and south coasts of India, unlocking synergies through multiple entry / exit points for shipping lines with long-standing partnerships / relationships with APSEZ,” the annual
report said. India’s trade and foreign policy is focused on strengthening relationships with ASEAN countries as part of the ‘Look East Policy’. Adani Yangon International Terminal Company Limited (AYITCL), a 100% unit of AITPL was formed in February 2019 for carrying out business in Myanmar including building a $290 million container terminal in Yangon. APSEZ runs 12 ports and terminals across the western and eastern seaboards with a capacity to handle 498 million tonnes (mt) of cargo. In FY21, APSEZ handled 247 mt of cargo, accounting for 25% share of India’s EXIM cargo market. It has also set up Adani Logistics International Pte Ltd in Singapore as a wholly owned subsidiar y of Adani Logistics Ltd to look after international logistics opportunities.

Transworld Group plans to double eet within next two to three years Acquired four dry bulk ships in the last six months Cont’d. from Pg. 3
The total cost of the four newly acquired ships could be between $40 million and $60 million, said Mr. Ritesh S Ramakrishnan, Joint Managing Director of the Transworld Group, which owns and operates a diversified fleet of 25 vessels consisting of container, dry bulk and multipurpose carriers. These four ships are part of the handy-size bulk carrier segment. They have been acquired from Japanese, Vietnamese and European owners and have since been deployed on world-wide trading routes, he told. The company has tied up with European pool managers to deploy the ship on global trades albeit with a focus on the Atlantic basin. This is in line with the Transworld Group’s long-term strategy of becoming a significant player in the handy-size dry bulk segment. The vessels will ply between ports in Europe, Mediterranean, West Africa and South America with various cargoes such as grain, steel and fertilisers. In some cases, the ships will also carry salt and coal from the major exporting locations in Australia and Indonesia into China, he said.
When asked about the reasons behind choosing bulk carriers, Ramakrishnan said that although the Group is commonly recognised as a container feeder ship owner, the company had diversified into the dry bulk segment nearly ten years ago with the purchase of the first bulk carrier in 2012 built in China. This was soon followed up with taking deliveries of two more bulk carriers and our recent purchases are only a strengthening of the group's presence in this sector. “We have ambitious plans to double the fleet within the next 2-3 years and we are well on our way to achieving this goal,” he said. On the market for bulk transport, Ramakrishnan said that given the trade dynamics in the current Covid-19 pandemic scenario, this segment is very adaptable to various forms of cargoes and hence constitutes the ‘workhorse’ of the dry bulk movements along global trade lanes. As such, the segment sees less volatility despite major shake ups in the global economy. Besides, with factories around the world coming back to normal production levels slowly and raw material stockpiles depleted, there is now a very good scope for a healthy commercial deployment for years to come, he said.
A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S: Strong Container market expected until at least the end of 2021 COPENHAGEN: A.P. Møller Mærsk A/S (APMM) reports an unaudited revenue of USD 14.2bn, an underlying EBITDA of USD 5.1bn and an underlying EBIT of USD 4.1bn for Q2 2021. The strong quarterly performance is mainly driven by the continuation of the exceptional market situation with strong rebound in demand causing bottlenecks in the supply chains and equipment shortage. Volumes in Ocean increased by 15% and average freight rates improved 59% in Q2 2021 compared to previous year. Consequently, given the strong result in Q2 2021 and the exceptional market situation still expected to continue at least until the end of the full-year 2021, the full year guidance for 2021 has been revised upwards with an underlying EBITDA now expected in the range of USD 18-19.5bn (previously USD 13-15bn) and underlying EBIT expected in
the range of USD 14-15.5bn (previously USD 9-11bn). As a consequence of the higher earnings expectations, and despite increasing net working capital and higher instalments related to higher charter lease liabilities, the free cash flow (FCF) for the full-year 2021 is now expected to be minimum USD 11.5bn (previously minimum USD 7bn), while the cumulative CAPEX guidance for 2021-22 is unchanged of around USD 7bn. The outlook for the global market demand growth for the full-year 2021 has been revised up to 6-8% from previously 5-7%, primarily still driven by the export volumes out of China to the US. Earnings in the third quarter are expected to exceed the level for Q2 2021. Trading conditions for the quarters ahead are, however, still subject to a higher than normal volatility due to the temporary nature of current demand patterns, disruptions in the supply chains and equipment shortages.

For rst time, Dragon Fruit of Gujarat & West Bengal exported to UK & Bahrain NEW DELHI: In a major boost to exports of exotic fruit, consignments of fiber& mineral rich ‘dragon fruit’, which are sourced from farmers of Gujarat & West Bengal, have been exported for the first time to London, United Kingdom & Kingdom of Bahrain. In India, dragon fruit is also referred to as Kamalam. The consignment of exotic fruit exported to London was sourced from farmers of Kutch region and exported by APEDA registered packhouse in Bharuch, Gujarat, while the consignment of ‘dragon fruit’ exported to Kingdom of Bahrain was sourced from the farmers of West Midnapore (West Bengal) and exported by APEDA registered enterprises, Kolkata. Earlier in June 2021, a consignment of ‘dragon fruit’ that was sourced from the farmers of Tadasar village, Sangli district, Maharashtra was exported to Dubai by APEDA recognized exporter. At present, dragon fruit is grown mostly in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Andaman and
Nicobar Islands. West Bengal is new to taking up cultivation of this exotic fruit. Scientifically referred to as Hylocereusundatus, the ‘dragon fruit’ is grown in countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, the USA and Vietnam and these countries are the major competitors for Indian Dragon Fruit. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in July, 2020 on All India Radio had mentioned
about the dragon fruit farming in the arid Kutch region of Gujarat. He had congratulated the farmers of Kutch for the cultivation of fruit for ensuring India’s self-sufficiency in the production. His dream has come true when the fruit is being exported to the UK and Kingdom of Bahrain. APEDA is making efforts to export it to other European countries to get better price realisation to the farmers of their produce.

OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (PREV.) SARDA HOUSE, BEDI BUNDAR ROAD, JAMNAGAR-361008 F. No. GEN/TECH/PN/96/2021-Tech-O/o Commr-Cus-Prev-Jamnagar DIN No. 20210871MM0000888AED
Dated : 01.08.2021
PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 22 /CCP/JMR/2021 Sub. : Extension of facility of Direct Port Delivery from entity base to Bill of Entry base DPD—regarding Attention of the Importers, Exporters, General Trade, Port Terminal Operators, Shipping Lines/Shipping Agents, CFSs coming under the jurisdiction of Customs (Prey.), Jamnagar and all other stakeholders is invited to the Public Notice No. 14/2018 dated 17.05.2018 and the Public Notice No. 15/2018 dated 24.05.2018 regarding Direct Port Delivery (DPD) facility at Pipavav Port. 2. In this regard, Circular No. 14/2021- Customs dated 07.07.2021 regarding Improvements in Faceless Assessment Measures for expediting Customs clearances has been issued by the Board. The said Circular stipulates the following reagarding the Diret Port Delivery. "Enhancing Direct Port Delivery (DPD): Circular No.29/2019-Customs dated 05.09.2019 stipulates the eligibility criteria for availment of DPD by the importers. Since then a number of measures including advance filing of Bill of Entry have led to quicker turn-around time for the import cargo. The present decision to enhance the facilitation levels is also a step in this direction. However, while facilitation levels are going up, the DPD levels are not rising commensurately. This is primarily because the present policy is to have an entity based DPD while facilitation levels are linked primarily to Bills of Entry. Accordingly, in order to enhance DPD for faster Customs clearances as well as de-congestion of ports, Board has decided to shift from entity based DPD to a Bill of Entry based DPD. In short, in partial amendment to the said circular, Board has decided that, as a general principle, all the advance Bills of Entry which are fully facilitated (do not require assessment &/or examination) would be granted the facility of DPD. It is clarified that, this facility is over and above the present system of entity based DPD extended to AEO clients. However, the entity whose Bill of Entry has been facilitated for DPD would be required to adhere to the requirements of the ports/terminals/custodians for taking physical delivery of the container. Further, to optimise the ground handling by the ports/terminals/custodians, the ICEGATE shall modify the electronic message being sent to the ports/ terminals/custodians on arrival of the cargo, to additionally flag the containers granted (or ready for) DPD along with 1EC details. The flag would also indicate the requirement of scanning of specific containers, wherever applicable. This would be done at the stage of Entry Inwards to facilitate efficient planning in stacking and movement of these containers and thus quicken their turn-around time. Similar message would be sent to the importer/Customs Broker. The Pr. Chief/ Chief Commissioners of Customs are required to duly sensitise and co-ordinate with the ports/terminals/custodians and the trade for ensuring the effective use of the enhanced facility of DPD". 3. The above is brought to the notice of all Importers, Exporters, General Trade, Port Terminal Operators, Shipping Lines/ Shipping Agents, CFSs for availing the DPD facility on the Bill of Entry basis for expediting the Customs clearances at the ports of this Commissionerate. 4. Difficulties, if any being faced, may be brought to the notice of the Additional Commissioner(Tech) through email at cusjmradc@gmail.com. 5. This Public Notice should also be considered as Standing Order for the officers and staff of the department. Sd/(Dr Ram Niwas) Principal Commissioner

Myanmar Terminal: Adani seeks general permit from US Government agency MUMBAI: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has applied for a general licence from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of Treasury to run the container terminal it is constructing in Myanmar. This comes in the wake of developments following the military coup in Myanmar on February 1. “The company has applied to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of t h e U S D e p a r t m e n t o f Tr e a s u r y Operations for a general licence to operate the port as it is expected to create stable jobs, promote private commercial trade, facilitate the arrival of goods such as food, medicine and clothing for the Burmese people,” said APSEZ while announcing its April-June quarterly results recently. US sanctions The project has come under a cloud with the US imposing sanctions on 10 serving and former Burmese military officials responsible for the February 1
coup as well as on Burma’s military holding companies – Myanma Economic Holdings Public Company Limited (MEHL) and Myanmar Economic Corporation Limited (MEC). In May 2 0 1 9 , A d a n i Ya n g o n I n t e r n a t i o n a l Terminal Company Limited (AYITCL), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Adani I n t e r n a t i o n a l Te r m i n a l P t e L t d (AITPL), signed a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) contract for 50 years to constr uct a $290-million container terminal in Yangon on land leased from Myanmar Economic Corporation Limited (MEC). As per the agreement, APSEZ was to pay $90 million for land lease premium and $20,000 as an annual lease charge. “All negotiations and payments to MEC were made in advance of the imposition of sanctions on MEC by the US. APSEZ’s last such payment to MEC was made in August 2020, six months prior to the imposition of sanctions,” it said.
APSEZ has invested $127 million on the project till March 2021. APSEZ had previously said it is proactively drawing on t h e o p i n i o n o f O FA C a n d o t h e r stakeholders, and will factor in their concerns in dealing with the evolving situation. “ Fo r u s , n o t e n g a g i n g w i t h a sanctioned entity in any form, and zero tolerance of human rights violation is nonnegotiable,” said the firm in its latest annual report. “In a scenario where Myanmar is classified as a sanctioned country under O FA C a n d i f s t a k e h o l d e r s a r e uncomfortable or if stakeholders believe that continuance represents a violation of sanctions, APSEZ will abandon the project and write down project investments in full,” it said in the annual report. “The write-down will not materially impact the balance sheet as it is equivalent to about 1.3 per cent of the total assets of APSEZ,” it added.
Truck rentals increase marginally in July CHENNAI: Hinting at recovery in the transportation sector, truck rentals across the country registered a four to six per cent increase in July. A report by I n d i a n Fo u n d a t i o n o f Tr a n s p o r t Research and Training said the increase in rentals is on the support of 10 to 15 increase of factory output. It was possible even though the despatches in vegetables in regulated markets dropped by 10 per cent due to the monsoons and floods in various parts of the country. Senior fellow of IFTRT SP Singh said
overall lifting of lockdowns across the country has also lifted the business sentiments and trade and commerce. He said in the report that despite rains, cement transportaion, infrastructure projects and exports have been brisk to support fleet utilisation to over 75 per cent compared to June, 2021. The truck rental for popular 18-tonne payload multiaxle truck for full round trip for a Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi route saw a five per cent increase of about Rs. 6,000, when the increase in diesel price was about Rs.
700. Similarly, Delhi-Nagpur-Delhi route saw an increase of 5.1 per cent, DelhiKolkata-Delhi six per cent and DelhiChennai-Delhi 4.5 per cent in rentals. Singh said the heavy truck sales, despite a three per cent price hike, have gone up by 25-30 per cent on the low base of July. He said the road transport sector absorbed the vehicle, tyre and diesel price increase. “The transport being a dependent business and fragmented, takes time to recover. So far it is a mixed picture,” he added.
Andhra Pradesh: Master plan on anvil for logistics sector HYDERABAD: The state government is preparing a policy document to promote professionalism and excellence in logistics services and create employment opportunities. The government is planning to ensure integrated, seamless, efficient, reliable, green, sustainable and cost-effective logistics network in the state. The state government wanted to ensure multi-modal cargo movement for optimal use of all transport modes, by developing multi-modal transport infrastr ucture, including MMLPs. The state government has constituted a high-level State Logistics Coordination
Committee (SLCC) headed by chief secretary. The SLCC comprising special chief secretaries and principal secretaries of the key infrastructure departments has been asked to prepare a master plan for State and City centric logistics, providing actionable program strategies to align the state policy with the national logistics policy. The SLCC was also directed to explore ways to improve logistical efficiency which could also help improve GDP. “The committee has been asked to ensure predictability, visibility and tracking and tracing regarding cargo movement, and improve in-transit warehousing leveraging digital initiatives. It should also support modern trade
and e-commerce, and create resilient supply chain for effective emergency response through modernization of the logistics sector,” said chief secretary Dr Adityanath Das. The SLCC would democratise logistics services to benefit all sections of society, in particular, farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The committee has also been tasked with coordinating with multiple and fragmented stake holders across the Union government and states, National Logistics Councils(NLC ) and Central Advisory Committee on Logistics (CACL) besides an Empowered Group of Secretaries (eGoS).

Impressive order booking position to sustain Exports growth albeit logistics challenges: FIEO President NEW DELHI: Reacting to the trade data for July 2021-22, Dr A Sakthivel, President, FIEO said that the sustained growth in exports of about 48 percent with USD 35.17 billion over FY’ 2020-21 and by 34 percent over FY ’ 2019-20 yet again demonstrated the strength and resilience of the exports sector. This is the highestever exports recorded at least in the previous 9 years as per the data readily available with FIEO. It also is a sign that global trade is recovering fast, added Dr Sakthivel. FIEO Chief reiterated that the global demand during this period has also remained buoyant as the order booking positions of the exporters have still been impressive. Dr Sakthivel complimented the
government under the able and dynamic leadership of P rime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and also the Union Finance Minister, Union Commerce & Textiles Minister for showing confidence and trust on the exporters during these difficult times, who have not only continuously performed impressively but have also been able to showcase that the government’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat has given a boost to the sector. The FIEO President said that the top sectors, which performed impressively during the month compared to both July of 2020 and 2019 were Petroleum, Engineering Goods, Gem & Jewellery and Organic & Inorganic Chemicals. Dr Sakthivel emphasised that many
labour-intensive sectors were the main contributors, which itself is a good sign, further helping job creation in the country. FIEO President is of the view that though the government has announced a slew of measures to support exports, the need of the hour is to soon notify the RoDTEP rates to remove uncertainty from the minds of the trade and industry, besides addressing some of the key issues including priority status to exports sector, release of the necessary funds for MEIS and clarity on SEIS benefits, resolving risky exporters issues, augmenting the flow of empty containers and establishing a regulatory authority to seek justification of freight hike and imposition of various charges by the shipping lines.
